ABANDONED ISLAND - Forgotten House on Lake Tahoe's Only Island

Fannette Island is the only island on all of Lake Tahoe. It is the site where in the 1920's, Laura Knight chose to build her famous "tea house" where she would bring guests for...you guessed it...tea! Today, all that remains of the structure is its bare stone skeleton. You can boat or kayak over to the island and hike up to the top to visit the remains.

Hey, just wanted to say thanks for both the history lesson and the geology lesson lol. I'm really intrigued by that tea room; if it had been mine I'd have trekked up there a few times a week just to sit and enjoy the view, even in winter, weather permitting. With a cup of tea of course!
