The Beijing Dance Acadamy is one of the best dance schools in China. And since everything in China is so competitive (due to the large population) you can imagine how hard these girls have to work to stay on top...

Wow! I'm loving how these girls get to do what would be commonly treated as men's technique. I especially loved the Kossack knee turns. Sweet!

@missWhatever1996 That would be because Chinese classical dance is Chinese traditional dance (which started in the royal courts as concubines performed for the emperor, and some of the dances would be about war victories) after the Western influence of ballet and formal training. To Westernized eyes and mindsets, Chinese classical dance could be described as a combination of acrobatics, rhythmic gymnastics, ballet, and martial arts.

@mssongslovers I think she definitely knows how to and she can. Its just a matter of how polished her techniques still are, with all the hiphop/pop dance she now dances. Chinese ballet and any dance for that matter, needs constant practice to maintain that kind of technique. I just wish SM or TV show producers would give her an opportunity to dance something like this, say in live concerts or something.

+okla That's actually Victoria at 1:45 ! I know that as I saw the exact same video which mentions that that is Victoria at 1:45 :)) And of course she can do ALL the moves , she is REQUIRED too ! If she didn't know how to do them she would not be in the academy anymore . In Beijing Dance Academy you start learning those moves before , towards 12-14 years old ^^ My friend from Beijing Dance Academy told me !

The only thing I would say is to point their feet more... bothered me a little. There's some other iffy technique in there but obviously it's not ballet.
That lost fouette girl blew my mind. And the stamina of the split-jumps - WOW. Gorgeous!

This was amazing...And to the hater below me (and TRUST that you are beneath me) I say:
How many dancers does it take to screw in a light bulb?
    Give up?
    100
(One to actually dance and 99 to say, "I could have done that better!")
It's ART, so who are you to judge?

  • @thepalacemaid

You are right, there is no doubt there are martial arts elements to it. Also I'd like to point out that some moves here resemble the butterfly jump---a very hard move for girls given the core strength required. It is well-known that Soviet-styel dance training is heavily gymnastic----what's shown here is even beyond that.

There is a fine line usually between Art & Sports
No line here it is just technique with no Arts
Some of the blending between the two dance culture are promising but nothing impressive here
The Chinese Culture is vase, wonderful & so creative, we see it true the Olympic how Arts, sports, discipline and creativity could amaze the human spirit, But this is just movements with no sole. No empress lot of the Technique was not that great, lack of timing, bad extension 6 .5 on 10 ...
