Then a couple of years later I found out about Jessi when she broke the land speed class record the second time, not knowing she was the same one from Mythbusters. And I really started to admire her, because she was absolutely badass. Then when she had the accident I remember feeling it, and started searching a bit more about her, and found out she was this girl from mythbusters I never noticed almost, or didn't like. And this completely recontextualize all these episodes where she appears in, to me. She literally broke a damn world record 3 times. She is a perfect example of the insanely capable people that was involved with this show.

Getting those external coaxial connectors mounted to the PCB was an exercise in patience because we did it on the surface mounted assembly lines, but the mechanical support/ground leads had to go through holes, and none of the suppliers could be assed to make those leads within the tolerance required by the PCB. We ended up enlarging the holes by a factor of about 1.5 and mounting the connectors manually.
I love the older seasons because the narrator, as much as the show itself, are both completely unhinged. One of my favorite statements made by the narrator that goes somewhere along the lines of Jamie's specific finger that he uses to advise motorists while he's on the road, lol. I didn't get that when I was a kid, but now I fully understand it, lol.
What is your definition of older? This is season 7. If I was really really generous to you I would say this is halfway through the entire show. And that's huge reaching.

Regarding the "hanging on" myth, in what movie has the protagonist had to hang off a ledge indefinitely? It's rare a scene like that goes in for longer than a minute, so why were the conditions of the myth "hang on indefinitely"?

my biological dad is a survivor of the "beverage vs windshield" myth. at the age of 18 he was sitting on the copilot seat while on the highway and a drunk guy threw a glass bottle of beer at the windshield, i dont know much of the details except that they all thought he was dead/got shot in the face, his face was entirely covered in pouring blood but in the end he lost all of his teeth in his mouth. makes me wonder how much of the bottle actually penetrated the windshield because its a fact it shattered on impact aswell.
As someone who's done a tree top to tree top assault course where you have to wear one of those harnesses it does absolutely NOTHING to ease the brain. Monkey brain rules I'm afraid.

I've been binging these episodes as they've been going up on youtube and there were other episodes at this location where I was like "oh this is where Tory banged his leg on the ledge" him getting hurt were the most memorable parts of the show from when I watched them as a teen. Sure there are other moments too, but that shit makes me wince every time.

the worst part of tory's shinjury was that they could have done that test mere inches off the ground (and not directly near concrete), the effects of gravity are no different at the two heights, and there is an almost zero % chance of injury on the lower height hang...
Almost guaranteed they did it at a height like that to be gripping for the audience. While irresponsible, choices like this are what make or break a show a lot of the time.
They did explain why they did it from an actual height, for the adrenaline boost. Now that might be a bogus explanation but I'm surprised you didn't notice it.

@@Mikael404 That didn't need hindsight. That was completely avoidable and clearly something to anticipate. Anyone who ever fell from SOMETHING would have seen that accident in waiting. Just pure luck that it wasn't worse. And sure, freak accidents can happen and that's too bad. But this was not a freak accident. It had neon-signs pointing to the outcome from the get-go.
That doesnt matter though, even if thats not corrected for in the test, if you double the outcome of all of them, you're still gonna find the hardest one. That wasnt the experiment, so its not against the myth.

Truth is adding liquid gives more of the solid bits an opportunity to transfer energy before "bouncing off". Im not using plasticity here bc as far as I remember it only applies to solids.
