"That's the sound of Mr. Hyneman having fun." 😂😂😂 Epic
I feel like I’m reliving my childhood watching these with all you fans around the world waiting for the next upload is so satisfying and nostalgic
The Netherlands checking in!
From france I was watching with my grandparents back then !
I’m from Canada my grandparents always had this show on when I would visit!
England here! 😀
Pakistan sends warm greetings!
28:14 "Perfectly tame racing car driver"... greetings to TG
28:36 "A little bit closer, Stig"
Rip Grant and Jessie
I saw Tori's accident coming the second I saw the setup. How did nobody say: "Well maybe we should prevent someone from hitting that window ledge."
Poor Tory, that must have hurt...
I thought exactly the same
Producer might have wanted the shot from the window. Hope Jamie gave him or her an earful over sacrificing safety for slightly amusing shots.
Dude, I literally just came down to the comments section to say the EXACT same thing!! It was OBVIOUS that was going to happen.
Tori was really lucky he didn't shatter his knee.
I knew Torry's going to have an accident the moment I saw him dangling against the window opening.
Besides that- 😂❤😂❤
28:13 You can't tell me that isn't a Top Gear reference...
[EDIT]: 28:35 Yup.... yup thats a Top Gear reference...
Even after all these years I still feel the pain of Tory's injury. What a legend!
I like these guys.
They dont just tell the myths, they put them to the test!
But. Who are the Myth busters?
I love the older seasons because the narrator, as much as the show itself, are both completely unhinged.
One of my favorite statements made by the narrator that goes somewhere along the lines of Jamie's specific finger that he uses to advise motorists while he's on the road, lol. I didn't get that when I was a kid, but now I fully understand it, lol.
What is your definition of older? This is season 7. If I was really really generous to you I would say this is halfway through the entire show. And that's huge reaching.
@@slovnicurling9808 A lot of people didn't see the first 4 seasons or so, and it was a much rougher production by comparison. I'm not sure when the show hit viral popularity, but it was probably around season 6 or 7, so for many viewers those are the early episodes to them.
i just watched that episode lol
@@Myzelfa ok I understand but how does it make season 7 an "older episodes"? If I start watcing Game of thrones from season 8 does it makes it older episodes? Doesn't make sense to me. But I guess this is one of the youtube comments where I just roll my eyes and move on. Not a hill I want to die on.
@@slovnicurling9808 It's older than season 16. Everything is relative.
I can't believe they didn't see the knee in the window incident coming
It's wierd to see Jessi Combs on these episodes.......but at least she will not be forgotten anytime soon.
Jamie had to bust out the Junk Jet for this one
damn I want a blue slush now.
Blue raspberry!
"You ready for 2 inches?" :)
The half-inch grip is really dangerous, btw, unless expert rockclimbers. The curvature of the fingers can cause "bowstring" failures, where the tendons rip from their moorings and go straight. I've come close to it myself. It was painful for weeks.
I guess that's why Grant let go almost immediately, not because of slippage. His nerves were sending him a message: we're outa here, stat.
The only time in history where a woman has been impressed with half an inch and 14 seconds...
@@NorrisHistoryCorner And the underrated comment of the year goes to.. drumroll @NorrisHistoryCorner !
"perfectly tame racing driver"? Oh i love that TOP GEAR UK Reference! And Adam calls him Stig? I love it!
My left ear really liked the narrator's lines here.
Me and my Dad used to watch Mythbusters religiously when it was on Tv
ah shit tory that looked painfull af
Yeah they should have looked at that and said why don't we move it over in-between the windows to begin with
Not sure how he didn't dislocate his kneecap.
I know I have a dirty mind when I giggled when Grant asked Jesse if she was ready for 2”!!
What a great show
I like Jessie, she reminds me of Tank Girl.
4:39 peak narrator lines holy shit
I remember watching this as a kid and getting annoyed they didn't test different ice types or a drink with all the ice frozen together, they always didn't test enough basic stuff.
Jessie was so adorable, she should have been a guest more often😢😢😢
The styrofoam cup myth isn't crazy to me. Remember the NASA space shuttle break up on re entry from a brief case size of insulation smashing through the wing?
i've never winced so much watching something... why did they cut in tory's fall onto the window every minute 😢
Now that’s a real scream 9:32
Robert's off in the corner again...
Why is the narrator coming from the left. Is the audio mix broken or was it always like this?
Watching the episode made me sad: two of Mythbusters are already dead, Grant and Jessi. They were young.
Nice thinking on making the volume so god damn low that you can barely hear anything. Makes you focus more on the imagery
wtf is going on with the audio mixing in this episode
Ah yes… The episode where Tory got his leg f’d up hitting a ledge… OUCH.
Oh, and before I forget… RIP Grant Imahara and RIP Jessi Combs.
PS - Looks like I’m first to the party. 🙂
I've been binging these episodes as they've been going up on youtube and there were other episodes at this location where I was like "oh this is where Tory banged his leg on the ledge" him getting hurt were the most memorable parts of the show from when I watched them as a teen. Sure there are other moments too, but that shit makes me wince every time.
Climbing has come a long way since back then.
Love Jessy ❤️
I love how they didn't make a small containment area around the impact zone but just went "nah whatever, splatter all the soda over the entire shop, who caaaaares" xD That plastic they put up was really inadequate. Mythbusters is such a gem for just doing this weird shit in weird ways :D
Not surprised the "most replayed" part was Jessi's armpit tattoo
In what movie does the action star hold onto a ledge indefinitely? Longer than 1 or 2 minutes, sure, but indefinitely is a long time.
Lets increase their anxiety to max levels by including a 99.99 safe harness rig.
That doesnt matter though, even if thats not corrected for in the test, if you double the outcome of all of them, you're still gonna find the hardest one. That wasnt the experiment, so its not against the myth.
Owww Tory I know your pain, a blow to the shin hurts alot more than you think
well, now I know not to create air-powered high velocity soda can launchers, and especially not shoot them point blank at my friends and/or fellow humans!
Superb blend of entertainment and education.
You should work on thumbnails for your videos. I recommend choosing frames with explosions or those showing some action.
I don't think that climbing instructor was used again, how stupid do you gotta be to do that falling test with an open window below.
Why would they do it at a window...
Could someone please boost the audio signal on this channel? The difference with the ads (yes, i don't pay) is very noticable. Thank you!

Holy shit Jamie can show emotions?
Left ear only narrator ASMR whispering sweet sweet narrations into my ear.
His leg took a wack,i hope he gets a bonus payment for that
Why sound only came from left speaker?
only for the narrator
So, i see a lot of people asking why they stayed where the window was. First of all, we all are seeing this after it happened. So for us, it is obvous what the correct choice would be. Second, there is also a logic to have an opening nereby if/when someone drops, so that they can enter back in throught that and then get released from the harness once they are on a solid floor. Is this the best assessment, obviously it wasnt. But that is just one quick reasoning for why they did it like that, and they might have had more reasons.
They put a camera in the window too. They thought about having a different angle of camera.
What about the inertia of the steel plate?
The steel plate was a constant variable, doesn’t affect the readings in respect to each other.
@@pn8902 However, they never have an absolute value, and I did notice their wads differed. Indeed, much of what they do can be calculate mathematicallor chemically, but that would be less amusing? One thing not mentioned is that 60+60=120mph closing speed
Did no one think it was dangerous to have Tori holding over a window? Rather they´d moved it between the windows instead.
They did immediately afterwards. But it was indeed too late..
It's called hindsight they'll learn after getting hit and after that they teach people like you what you should be aware of so it doesn't happen to another one.
@@Mikael404 like the cannon incident
@@ShevkoMore Indeed even if you plan your safety protocol carefully, there is still chance for an accident. you can only hope no one got hurt and fix those damages.
I find it weird that the pure soda was the lightest. I mean ice is less dense than water so I would think the one without ice would be the heaviest.
Plasticity
Maybe the cups haven’t been filled to the exact same volume. That could explain it. Otherwise I would also expect the cup with pure soda to be the heaviest since it should have the highest density.
Rock climbers be laughing at this I bet 21:13
Which episode does tory fall of the red bike head first, shown in the intro section? cheers
Gravity is a theory not law. sorry Adam!
Whats with the narrator dude only coming out of the left speaker, lol.
It's been the same issue for several past uploads.
@@atToebiscuit oh well, could be worse. Just surprised that its like that coming from proper TV people.
I'm thankful for all of these old episodes on YT, however you can tell from the constant sound issues in a lot of these episodes that the uploader only cares about ad money/money in general and doesn't care about Mythbusters/the quality of Mythbusters at all
they had the narrator gagged this time. or the roof of his mouth is coated with peanut butter
The narrator is pretty hard to hear in this one
One Mythbusters episode per day keeps a doctor away :)
32:22 Grant channels Sulu energy for this line
Too bad these got blocked in the US, good thing I have proton though.
Really? As an Australian, it's usually the other way around. The shows I wanna watch are copyright blocked in the US.
@atToebiscuit close the application
Connect vpn to a country the blocked content is available in
Reopen and load the link
It'll work then
I miss the narrator :c
I was thinking "why don't they chalk up before hanging on to the ledge?"
Pro climber arrives, chalked fingers. It does help a ton.
Its insane they didnt see the window as an issue. Thr moment i saw that opening I thought that is not a good idea.
Mythbust why the audio sucks in this day & age.
"the action hero who could hang on to that" no no, the guitar hero who could hold on to that.
grant and jessie died
The windshield not being properly glued can't take the force of the projectile as well as it could when it is glued.
As I hit a bird woth my windshield at ~100mph and the bird splattered and left no crack on the windshield, before I even watch the video, I would say its busted.
As I see the windshield isn't assembled correctly, especially in old cars they are under tension. That makes a big difference to just fixing them with ductape to the frame.
How the hell is 134 mph highway speed lol
Trouble is the myth says highway speed, 70 mph. They have doubled it which is not correct. A head on between two objects at 70mph will inflict the same damage as hitting a wall at 70mph...
Think about it in terms of energy. An object traveling at speed brings energy into the collision. A stationary wall doesn't bring any energy with it, so a collision into a wall will only have 70 mph worth of energy in the event. In order to approximate a collision between two 70 mph objects with a single moving object and a wall, you need double the energy that a 70 mph object would have, so you double the speed. Technically you should also double the mass if you're simulating two identical objects colliding, but for this sort of test, doubling the speed is close enough.
Kinetic Energy= 1/2 Mass x Velocity squared so a head on between two objects at 70 mph will inflict (roughly) the same damage as hitting at wall at 140 mph because the kinetic energy of two 70 mph objects is about the same as one 140 mph object.
How far would you travel going 70mph for an hour?
@@resurgam_b7 Adam and Jamie actually tested it and proved that what you just said is wrong. I can’t remember the exact episode though
@@resurgam_b7 Yes, an object traveling at speed brings energy but it absorbs energy also, and a car is a lot less heavy and has a lot higher plasticity than a wall so it will absorb a lot more energy. If two cars crash in a head on collision both wil absorb half of the energy present in the crash.
I think that's only the case when the 2 masses cancel each other.
A cup will not cancel the mass of the car. As a result, the mass of the car is added to the result minus the mass of the cup. The car will, therefore, add energy to the collision.
hey stinky spammers, guess what? this comment has more likes than you
This was far and away my favorite show as a kid. I always hated half the episode cause my thought process was "Come on! show me the bombs and guns and all the cool shit!" now as an adult I can really appreciate the more mundane stuff and be happy to see all the stuff I loved when I was like eight.
