Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn is my outright alltime favorite game, and weird choices aside, so much of that game built upon so naturally off of Path of Radiance that I found myself adoring it. The story, the worldbuilding, the characters, the gameplay... God, I fucking loved it. It was also the game that solidified Boyd as my all-time favorite character, watching him go from the cocky fool I trained him up to a beast of a unit back in PoR become a genuinely kind and selfless figure just... oomph. It hits hard man. There will never be a better way to describe to you what playing RD for the first time is like than this video. Great to see you do this video, man! Tellius is my favorite FE up there with Fates, so definitely gonna be enjoying this one!
Dear effing god Firescale, how the hell did you make a 4 hour video covering this game?! I just bloody finished it, my god that was a ride. Honestly when I heard you say you liked the Dawn Brigade I let out a little sigh of relief- I've never played RD myself (i am not paying 300 dollars for it thank you), but i know the full story and I've always had a soft spot for micaiah since shes one of the only mage lords in the series which I feel is a criminal sin. Also shes cute so..yea. also I swear you are one of the only people I know who uses 7th Dragon Music. Was incredibly happy when I heard Extreme Predator play during the Deghinsea fight. Top marks! Honestly I'm not the biggest fan of the Greil Mercenaries or Ike due to how much I have to listen to people sing his praises- hes by no means a bad character at ALL, but after numerous times I've had to listen to people talk about him I'm a little...jaded. (13 year old me getting into the FE series and looking up all the games and lords: I just wanted to know who Sigurd was! why is this about Ike! Again! This happened during looking up whoever Alm is too!) I was not expecting you to detail literally every character in the game (except Rolf, someone explain to me Firescale's panic plz), but it was a welcome addition! Hope whatever you make next, you have fun with it, as much as we have fun watching them!
I can't agree. You MUST Naesala. Here are my in depth reasons why: 1) Wheeling Corby 2) There's no need for another reason, because Wheeling Corby is a good song!
For the secret character, there is another thing needed for it to be recruitable. You must not use the black knight at the last chapter of the first book. Oh, and the debt is the thing with Adhnard's dragon in the end of PoR.
The thing with Largo, If i remember correctly, he lost an arm between games. That is the canon reason for him bot being playable. And the weird thing with Fiona is that her stats are so low, because they were the base stats if she were level 1. That is why she is so weak even for a level 9 cavalier. Also, have kurth and enna fight the dragons. They dont counter them, and as long as you can take 1 hp from dheghinsea, they will level up fast in that stage
Didnt have the chance to watch fully yet, but a lot of the unit analysis falls into the trap of "the Tower is the only metric units should be judged by", despite the fact of how many prior chapters the game has. Leonardo and Laura come to mind immediately, as Leo can actually do really well in part 3 even at base because of Lughnasadh + Crossbows. Whereas for Laura, you said shes "just an early healer you'll bench once better options arrive", but besides 1-8 and maybe 1-E, name me a chapter where you even want to bench her. In part 3 she has free deployment and healing is valuable in defensive situations, whereas in part 4 due to the split armies she has effectively free deployment due to how few healers there are in RD, and defensive stats wont matter if she never sees combat.
Oh 100% I am doing that. And I totally agree with your points on Laura and Leo. But I disagree that it's a trap to think that way. The way I see it, the tower is far and away the biggest decision in the game, forcing you to pick 10 out of every available unit in the game. While the midgame lets you freely deploy the large majority of the units you have available at that time, especially on the dawn brigade and Crimea chapters. The later Ike stages do have a fair bit of choice, but Ike has so many good units to choose from on those stages it almost doesn't matter who you use. So I guess I don't really see the point in min/maxing until you're actually forced to cut more than a handful of characters.
@@firescale2091 Its a case of missing the forest for the trees because by focusing solely on how units end up you ignore what the units can do for you beforehand. For example you called Mordecai terrible when his 32 base defense is damn near impregnable for a lot of enemy types, even in say 4-P, 4-2 or 4-3 on Hard. And the point about the endgame falls apart even further when you consider the coveted 34 spd cap isnt even relevant for E-1, for E-2 it only matters on Ike, E-3 only for Dheginsea, whom not everyone on ur team is gonna fight anyway, for E-4 the AS threshold to double the boss is 36, so 31+white pool does it and for the final boss, while with 34 spd and white pool u can double the auras, the amount of people who will benefit from it is limited to begin with. And some points about endgame potential are straight up wrong. For example you claimed Edward gets the best endgame stats, but thats actually wrong as his res is garbage, which you cited against others but not him. And yes BEXP is a thing but Zihark/Mia would need less of it to cap, while starting way better. I'd say item transfers and the part 4 army split are far more valuable decisions than picking for the Tower, people just deluded themselves that just because its the ENDGAME it has to be the most valuable. And keep in mind my entire analysis up to here assumed Royalless Hard, as with Royals you can just slam em in and then they destroy the bosses.
Man this is a game I really wanna get around to. I haven't been spoiled on it yet so i wont be watching this one. Hope i can come back and see it told long in the future!
around 49:00, it was Mangs or Mekkah who had a perfect Fiona going into end game, and was still one of the worst units in the army. (Granted, this was the Japanese exclusive maniac mode, so massive grain of salt)
That maniac mode is us hard mode. They mistranlated it. Japan had normal, hard and maniac in PoR, and they removed maniac from the us/pal release, adding easy mode. They wanted to retain this naming convention. So, they changed the jp names(normal, hard and maniac) to the one we have. Also the reason why easy mode save data from PoR breaks the game, as they forgot it existed.
Ah, Radiant Dawn. I have mixed feelings about this game! Path of Radiance is my favorite in the series and I was really excited going into the sequel, but it just felt... Rushed. Seriously - You discover an ancient hidden kingdom of laguz *before chapter five.*
When its more than an hour , its going to be good
Oh boy, a 3 hour monstrosity! My favorite!
I'm not even complaining lol, I'm hyped
Thank you for this. I love the path of radiance/radiant dawn duo games. And I miss them very much...
I stumbled on your videos and I love them!! ❤️ keep up the good work
So that's where you've been. Great job on this.
Also, chef's kiss for Lucifer's theme for Rolf.
This vid is really fun! Can't believe you didnt show base stats when talking about units though!

I missed you man. You're my favorite channel.
Bless you for this three hour video as I try to finishing knitting a hat lol

I got to 1:07 until I realized this video is 3 hours😂 thank you for carrying me through work

Man brought edward, aran, laura, AND fiona to his final team?? DAWN BRIGADE ENJOYERS RISE

You can very easily import save files on emulator to acess ng+
Wow this is almost as long as enemy phase in the actual game
An remember everyone, Muarim is Ike's little sister. At least my copy of RD says so, so it must be true.

I didn't understand the bit about Rolf. Is he good or is he not?
Fire Emblem 10 is an SRPG. No need to use an outdated racist term to define it.
I really really hate this game but am excited to watch!
My equivalent game is Kingdom Hearts. But like all the Kingdom Hearts games. No one will ever be able to convince me that Kingdom Hearts is bad.
They named it Crimea 💀
What's so bad about Rolf?
To have the story and character design go from this to whatever the hell engage is...how far this series has fallen
