Freda's label, Invictus was formed by ex-Motown songwriting hitmakers Holland-Dozier-Holland, with house band The Funk Brothers playing on it. Gordy was SO retarded not renewing HDH's contract-- Even more so when he tried to sue them for "exploiting the Motown sound" (He lost in court, but made sure he got the Funk Brothers under contract with a clause they only play for his label quickly afterwards ) Dunno why Payne didn't have more hits with a voice like that!!
When I was 8 I moved into Camelot. All my neighbors were black. And I’m incredibly glad. I’d hear these songs AT MY FRIENDS HOMES helping do their chores so we could go outside.
