I watch netflix every single day at night for around 1,5h with English subtitles. I started learning English like 7 months ago and my english from the very beginning improved to b1-b2. I'm so proud of myself. I'm 13 and I hope that I'll speak english fluently in the future.

But the only thing that stands in my way is my school english lessons. My teacher translate nearly every single word. It's annoying cause I'm trying to don't do that and just think in English.

The way to stop translating is to translate a lot into your mother tongue until it becomes natural and without realizing your head will no longer translate.

It’s something like a miracle i guess you can't reach b2 with just only watching Netflix, i mean for sure you are great but i think if you don't have a speaking practice and some grammar you can't be a truth b2, this just only my point

My 2 cents on the reason 1. It’s OK to find similiar sounds, words in the other languages you know in the beginning, but as soon as you’ve built a somewhat solid base for your new target language, start connecting new words around what you’ve already learnt. Our memory works best, when we create connections, so called hooks around the words, sentences or even situations. The stronger the connection is the faster our brain responds back with the right word, so it is crutial to start learning the language in this same language as soon as you have covered some bases.
