Nothing like a 2 stroke triple oil injected. I owned a 73 550GT back in the mid 70's. I put Bassani expansion chambers on it and re-jetted the cards. Also put Pirelli tires on her. She was quick and fun to ride. I did a lot of cross country trips with that bike and never no problems. Also ran synthetic 2 stroke and never fouled plugs! Nice ride!
I just bought a 73’ resto project! From 10’ it looks pretty decent but up close it needs work. It’s a full restoration and a pocket full of cash. I’m having the engine gone through and sending the crank off to be rebuilt and turned for starters, no telling what I will find as it is not running. But it will be mechanically bullet proof when done. It’s borderline as far as resto back to original. So I think I’m going resto mod with upside down forks twin disk in the front and a box swing arm and disc in the back with spoke rims and gold rims to match the forks and new ohlins shocks in the back👍. It will be a modern old school bike and a blast to ride. And of course a set of race pipes with carbon silencers. Seat fenders and tank will be stock. It will look beautiful and be a joy to ride. It will be about the same price all in as I would pay for a new sport touring bike but it will be a two stroke!! Two strokes forever!
Thank you! Suzuki two strokes during that era were truly something special. I can only imagine how good they would have gotten if they weren't shut down by emissions standards.
