You know , there is a certain magic about bands, like this, from the 80's. They are milestones in what was yet to come. These guys are underrated. You wouldn't really understand unless you were , of age, when this came out. Crunchy riffs and melodic vocals. Pure magic.

The early 80's were when what I term "Raw Metal" was coming out, before metal became all radio friendly with sappy pop ballads (although, I do like all kinds of metal or hard rock, regardless of the bands image).
I was born in 1990, so way passed that era, but I think the older I get the more I appreciate 80s heavy metal. Like you said, great riffs and great singing combo just sounds so tight.

Incredible to have such a resonating spearhead of a voice in that register. Usually the mixed voice of a guy that sounds "like a girl" sounds whiney, but Alex Madsen comes off as powerful.

When comparisons are made about which decades had the best music the 80's always get slammed. That transition from instuments to music saturated by synthesizers gets a bad rap. Some bands made great use of them...others didn't. Also the New Wave genre came out with some pretty weird stuff. Some of those bands were awesome...many were just bad. Whether it be MTV, VH1, Rolling Stone, etc etc, critics have all had a turn at bashing the 80's.

Oh yeah, they bashed heavy metal, as Michael Hersh said MTV, VH1, Rolling Stone hated heavy metal even at this time (1984). It was around 1986-87 that the big hair and heavy metal struck big, as far as the music media were concerned, as they were as always years behind what was actually happening in music. They buried metal in the early '90's as quick as they possibly could, but the interest in the bands continued whereas the interest in the shit they had promoted faded, so now we get to see many live shows, videos, etc. that we didn't back then because the idiot asshole sonofabitches wouldn't show it then.
Gosh - o -mightee this EARLY heavy metal is UNTOUCHED in my book especially groups like this that somehow stayed under the radar.......yes this stuff right here is the BEST heavy metal EVER offered !!!!!!!!!
I can't believe I ever imagined one day seeing a Witch Cross video. Frankly, a good vocal song. Hooks like crazy. Greatness...I hope these guys can enjoy how well the 80's are depicted by this cool ass production
Wow! I was NOT expecting this to be that good! The song started up and I immediately rolled my eyes when I saw the guitarists posturing. Then that chorus made me raise both my eyebrows! What I love is the "power pop" flavor to it. Like Cheap Trick on steroids.
i've read in Snakepit magazine that the band shot the video, and somebody subsequently "lost" the tape, and that band never got to see the video until it was uploaded on the internet, probably here :D so.. good job dude

I had this song on a cassette for 25 years without knowing who sang it. I contacted a Heavy Metal music journalist named Martin Popoff and sent him an MP3, he immediately responded with Witch Cross.. I found the LP on eBay shortly thereafter and it is fantastic. I heard ONE of the reissues and it didn't sound good at all (compared to the vinyl I recorded onto CD). I am hoping the 2CD set someone mentioned does a better job. This video version sounds great.

actually theres alot more to the witchcross old metal release then discussed. we worked it out so the band was happy and the old label can smile in the distance. we left it as a 'bootleg' to keep alot of greedy hands out of the pot from the past.

I like how the voice is cranked slightly louder than the guitars on this record. A lot of obscure albums around this time period consist of loud guitars and muffled vocals and drums, but here it's evened out
The remastering of the Fit For Fight album, Are You There 7 inches and the Last Train demo 86, there on the Hellsheadbangers 4 vinyl edition were taken from the Keltic cd release, in agreement with Keltic records and Jan Normark, the bass player of Witch Cross.
