    Thanks for featuring this - I just acquired an Apollo 10 for a co-worker. It had problems reliably imprinting the 2, =, ½, q, and ' characters. Once I saw where the two screws were for disassembly, the lid was off & I loosened/adjusted the two plates straddling the left- and right-most 4 hammer/type arms. Simple success - all characters now strike clearly and reliably in both lower- and upper-case. The plastic cleaned up well & I brushed all of the dust, gunk, etc. from the machine. It's a silent (nearly) beauty, now, and my co-worker is really happy.

    I have an old 30s Remington but the new ink keeps drying out. Because I wish to write often I am bidding on one of these little machines...

    I have a 12. I love it. Same color. In fact, that's the primary reason I bought it, because I liked the look. However, as you noted, the platen is rather hard and could stand to be redone. Yet, despite that, the only time it tries to pinch a hole with a single sheet is the period. Thicker typing paper is a solution for that. One thing i don't like is that I also suffer from the space bar. It doesn't seem to be quite sensitive enough. So that seems to be a common downside of this model. Only problem with the case is that one latch is broken (it's still secure) and there isn't enough room for the cord unless you do it up JUST right. Common problem in those days.

    Hello. Please help me. I need to get replacement ribbon for this machine and I don’t know where to get it. Is there a special size? I’m new to the typewriter world. This is the machine a have.

    I found the crème/black version but it is called just Apollo 10 (no GT). I will look for your Etsy ribbons. Mine has a slightly wider ribbon. In addition, do you know the purpose of the switch above the power switch? I cannot figure it out. Are the tabs adjustable? Seems mine are preset. I found mine at a Goodwill for $15, however it was caseless. Despite that, it’s in pristine condition. Any idea where one could find a case lid?

      I just bought that exact one from goodwill yesterday, hints why I’m watching this video, but they where selling it for $60 but I ended up convincing them to $30, but if you found out the answers to your questions I’d be interested in what you found. I find it funny we both found ours at goodwill.

    Where were you able to acquire the ribbon? Love the blue/green color.

      I sell ribbon on my etsy site (lazydogtypewriters). You can also find it online at vendors like amazon quite easily

      Same. It’s wider. All I could find for mine was the red/black combination.

    I have a black & white UK version that is branded as an "Imperial 300 electric".

    "Nakajima Based" - is a slip. Nagoya based is what I meant to say :)

    You have any idea how to remove the platen on this one? I’ve been trying for a bit and haven’t found anything

      If memory serves the knobs twist off. I don't think there are set screws

      The left hand knob is left hand threaded, but is usually so tight that it’s hard to remove. I used a pair of rubber strap wrenches, threading one of the straps around the platen and the other wrench on the left knob, then “crack” the left knob loose by turning clockwise. I’ve had the platens redone with fresh rubber from JJ Short on my Mercury and blue Saturn both.

    HI, do you mind if I use this video in a link to sell this typewriter that I have? Would you know what the value of this typewriter would be? thanks so much!

    • @tpaynemm
      @tpaynemm 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I wouldn't mind you linking to it as long as you are clear that this is not your typewriter. Prices vary dramatically based on the market and based upon the machine having been serviced.
