I was afraid you bought another project until I read the intro. It just makes you appreciate your own machines that while are old, they work the way they are ment to.
Hello Jeff. Happy New year. We have a D4D with a manual gearbox. A lot of times you have to take the floor plates up and free rod's and leavers off. Oil and grease them. They stick with standing.
Merry Christmas and Happy New year to you and yours, Jeff Anderson. I got nothing on the fix, I watch you to learn that stuff but I can relate. A friend is building a home and has rented a skid steer from a sub-contractor on the job, the sub doesn't take care of the machine- "grease it when it starts squeaking," he said. Well, the builder is letting his "help" run the machine when I can't, I haven't operated the thing since end of September, and I was tasked with moving some dirt the other evening. Climbed in the machine, the bucket is looking weird; turn it on, pick it up- a pin is out of the quick attach on the bucket. Spend 30 minutes finding out the hydraulic quick attach pin is thoroughly seized on that side. I have no idea how long it has been stuck like that but I see wear on the pin hole on the other side of the bucket that looks fresh and wallowed. Good grief, it would have taken 5 minutes to fix if they had just said something to start with..... Anyway, Happy New Year! thanks for the videos.
Nothing worse than a machine that has been abused and not serviced and then it wont do what it is supposed to do. Have a good 2024 Jeff, greetings to you and the family, hi to Mr Griffy.
It's a Shame how some people take care of Equipment. They were decent little dozers. Bet the radiator cap is laying in the belly pan. Happy New Year Jeff Tom
Looks like my little D3B. The steering linkage is under my battery tray which requires removing the panel behind the ripper cyl. Maybe some break it loose spray oil under there would help otherwise I would have put the helper springs on the rods that run under the floor plates back to these mechanisms. I have droopy blade, noticed this one did not. I think my angle cylinders have some trapped air and need bleeding.
Such a cute little kitten Jeff. Too bad the owner is letting it go to ruin. Thanks for sharing Your adventures. Best Wishes to everyone at Anderson Construction...... See You next Year.
I’ve run those style dozers before…that’s the push / pull kind of steering clutches…you have the right kind of boots for it,so don’t know what the problem could be!
There is cams and cam followers under the floor on the peddles and they seize up and make the peddles stick. Makes for a good workout steering with your feet.
Happy new year jeff 😂 and family looks like you’re having a struggle with that D4 but thanks for the content all 2023 from the uk hope everything goes well for 24 and thanks again🇬🇧🇬🇧🇺🇸🇺🇸😎👍👍.
Hard to carve the turkey with a butter knife, especially when it's dull. Happy new year Jeff to you and yours, ps usually when you have to run the 4 retirement not far off 😊😊 thanks for your videos enjoying them.
awww aint it cute! an like KD its tryin to kill ya.. im sure KD is gona pitch a fit yer not supposed to drive any other dozer but her LOL hope ya have a great year to come Jeff thank ya for the videos
Nice little D4C dozer to bad it hasn't been maintained well enough to use by you. That's just wrong hopefully they will make it right for you to use? Looking forward to your next video stay safe Jeff Happy New Year!!
You dont need 1st gear, that's for novice beginners! I don't think that poor little thing has seen any maintenance since the assembly line. Every joint on that looked to be dry of grease, and was too clean to have been greased in the last decade and probably a big reason the pedals are sticking. Hope you got it figured out good enough to get it finished.
well since it would steer off to the jone's it would of been nice to run in first until I got the top flattened off as I sure didn't want to fall into the potato soup LOL
I think that little tyke has been used and abused without any concern for proper maintenance. Stay upright and dry Jeff, I bet that tater juice smells. Happy New Year.
i swear that there is nothing that can be more aggravating then trying to run a piece of equipment that is not working right especially when the controls arent working right i'm surprised you dont have a small finish dozer of your own like a d5 or d6 high track with a 6 way blade on it but you know your operation better as to what you need for working but having your own small dozer you could haul with petey may come in handy kinda like the backhoe but it is your operation and like i said you know what you need for it better then anybody else
like i said you know your operation and what you would want to add to it better then me and i understand how frustrating it is to use somebody elses equipment that isnt up to your snuff so to speak @@Jpaydirt
Jeff if that D4 is rental unit, they owe you some discount on the rate for all the time you have wasted trying to steer it and getting the trans to work in low. This doesn’t say much for their maintenance dept.
I doubt it, since he's talking about calling someone to put transmission oil in it, and bring a new radiator cap. Unless it was such a good deal he could sink a lot of money in it and still come out ahead, I doubt Jeff needs anymore projects right now. And unless it was bought sight unseen, because it was such a great deal, Jeff would have caught the missing radiator cap and burnt smelling oil.
Appears the D4 veers to the right & whoever more than likely wore the left brake-pedal out correcting it constantly. I've watched C&C attack this a few times on their vids, it generally worked best with two/one at each end of that pedal mechanism. You're alone as normal so... Thanx for thinkin' of us or 'Thanx for noticin' as ole Eeyore would say...
One claims Idaho as one's home, yet he mentions 'parmas' & 'kewl it with the boom-booms' like one might have seen other homes. You've created a puzzle, we await further clues...
Those Friken old D4c+d's were a miserable POS when they were new, I'd stick to a D3 and skip to a D5 or larger and not even consider a D4. Friken foot steering only was a stupid idea anyway. Should put KillDozer to good use and end that D4.
My understanding is CAT built a D3, you could literally haul it in the back of a 3/4 ton or 1 ton pick-up. When you lifted the access lid to the trany dipstick,I thought I seen DEF written in black sharpie. Lol those baby dozers operate different from those big popa dozers, lol operator error 😂😂. Happy New Year
Maybe frank slipped in and adjusted it for you just kidding old frank would never own or work on toyojoes junk not one of CAT best judgement probably bought off the gray metal market ! Anyway you'll figure it out you always do ! Happy new year too you and family and Mr. Giffiey
It sure would be frustrating wow all I can say is did they paye u to use it lol lol I ges u will get the job done because that's u ...just leave the cry sheet on the seat with your bill for time spent finding all the wrongs out lol lol ...
it ain't easy, to do it right you need to pull the floor board seat and battery plus other crap thats in your way. there is a hydraulic valve for each clutch with cam roller , plus all the linkage you have to free up and adjust
Ya sure got a right piece of iron there bro. Good video to start 2024 too. Safe travels. Ken.
Pedal steer is like hemorrhoids, you can get used to it but you’ll probably never enjoy it.
I was afraid you bought another project until I read the intro. It just makes you appreciate your own machines that while are old, they work the way they are ment to.
Looks like you need to keep the D9’s on separate sides of the lot. They’re getting to friendly.
Yea I don't know where or how to go about getting protection for a d9 your right probley best to speate 😆😆😆
Hello Jeff. Happy New year. We have a D4D with a manual gearbox. A lot of times you have to take the floor plates up and free rod's and leavers off. Oil and grease them. They stick with standing.
Mr Paydirt that why I hate to use other people's equipment. And I don't let other use mine.
Have safe and Happy New Year.

Looks like the service truck guys greasegun wasn't filled for a while ! Have a Great 2024 ! Make sure Mr Griffy gets his treats !
Um grand paw well I grow up an be big like you .... 😆 I love it ....Jeff your a 🥜 😆 am used to hearing k dozer...is that thang even running... 😆
Nothing worse than a machine that has been abused and not serviced and then it wont do what it is supposed to do.

Tom
Somebody else had it last summer so wouldn't blame them, they keep their stuff in good shape

Oh, the rad cap is still with you. Happy 2024!

Happy new year jeff 😂 and family looks like you’re having a struggle with that D4 but thanks for the content all 2023 from the uk hope everything goes well for 24 and thanks again🇬🇧🇬🇧🇺🇸🇺🇸😎👍👍.
Jeff won LOL
People think
With that dozer you can take a 2 hour job an turn it to a 8 hour job!
Hard to carve the turkey with a butter knife, especially when it's dull. Happy new year Jeff to you and yours, ps usually when you have to run the 4 retirement not far off 😊😊 thanks for your videos enjoying them.
That's a dang good analogy LOL
You weren't nervous was yah
The eloquence of it
Where is mongo
awww aint it cute! an like KD its tryin to kill ya.. im sure KD is gona pitch a fit yer not supposed to drive any other dozer but her LOL hope ya have a great year to come Jeff thank ya for the videos

You'll have to see if the 9 can poop another 4 Jeff. lol Happy New Year & Keep Smilin
Maybe one in better shape LOL
Nice little D4C dozer to bad it hasn't been maintained well enough to use by you. That's just wrong hopefully they will make it right for you to use? Looking forward to your next video stay safe Jeff Happy New Year!!
Looks like a job for Mr plow and griff on the Yamaha 😀
Flat top on a dike? I seen one before it was purple though.
Have a great New Year Jeff
Merry new year Jeff
Hi. Jeff. Have. a. Happy. New. Year. From. Bill. S
Good afternoon from Southeast South Dakota
You dont need 1st gear, that's for novice beginners! I don't think that poor little thing has seen any maintenance since the assembly line. Every joint on that looked to be dry of grease, and was too clean to have been greased in the last decade and probably a big reason the pedals are sticking. well since it would steer off to the jone's it would of been nice to run in first until I got the top flattened off as I sure didn't want to fall into the potato soup LOL
We would have gotcha
If theres a plastic plug on each side of seat thats where you adjust the pedals
The Old reliable D9H eh!! Customer had a D4..he can keep it Too!
Looks like the brake switch is wired backwards and it is so far out of adjustment it doesn't matter.
Do the cheap fix and add a bungee cord I have seen other d4c temp fixed that way.
I think that little tyke has been used and abused without any concern for proper maintenance. Stay upright and dry Jeff, I bet that tater juice smells. Happy New Year.
There’s a bearing on the end of steering clutch valve
Prolly out and cam is hanging up on it
😂 run that spring up to the handhold handle
i swear that there is nothing that can be more aggravating then trying to run a piece of equipment that is not working right especially when the controls arent working right i'm surprised you dont have a small finish dozer of your own like a d5 or d6 high track with a 6 way blade on it but you know your operation better as to what you need for working but having your own small dozer you could haul with petey may come in handy kinda like the backhoe but it is your operation and like i said you know what you need for it better then anybody else
the only high drive I would own would be a D6T
like i said you know your operation and what you would want to add to it better then me and i understand how frustrating it is to use somebody elses equipment that isnt up to your snuff so to speak @@Jpaydirt
They think they can push dirt
65 komatsu didn't sweat
Rattle clat pushing marbles
You don’t have to be drunk to run that machine, but it helps explain the results right?
Jeff if that D4 is rental unit, they owe you some discount on the rate for all the time you have wasted trying to steer it and getting the trans to work in low. This doesn’t say much for their maintenance dept.
I was going to rent but the customer had this machine, my dealer wants 20K to fix the transmission, maybe I should fix it for them?
He probably has mother in law worthy of the bull pen
Nice pond dam…😂😂😂
That thing look like it got caught up in an barb wire fence and fought for it’s life trying to get out .
A shame to not maintain a machine. That'd be a handy size to have.
I see your problem-it's got a John Deere battery in it!
Looks like a rental.
I guess Idaho public school doesn’t teach Sex Ed? I bet KD didn’t have any jimmys!
Thanks for sharing Jeff! Happy New Years!
Feeling you pain , off to the recycling station for that
That poor thing should say tonka instead of CAT
Did you buy the 4 ?
I doubt it, since he's talking about calling someone to put transmission oil in it, and bring a new radiator cap.
Unless it was such a good deal he could sink a lot of money in it and still come out ahead, I doubt Jeff needs anymore projects right now. And unless it was bought sight unseen, because it was such a great deal, Jeff would have caught the missing radiator cap and burnt smelling oil.
The description states it belongs to the landowner
Yep just one hores power an it would have been to much for ya 😆😆😆 iv never run one so big 😆
Those are handy little things to have in limited work areas.
Don't want to be there
Waiting for the "Cat D4C digs a death ditch" video. It may be a bit small to do a death trench or pit.
My dad owned a few of them a D3 and a D4 h high drive and a ad6c and a D6 h Three of them and aD5m
Return to sender, not one of the better tractors they ever built
Appears the D4 veers to the right & whoever more than likely wore the left brake-pedal out correcting it constantly. Cousins from out of town? That's how it worked in my family.
the left pedal sticks in the release position so that's the issue
Joey can run it
There is a D6T sitting here if you want to use!
this one was free Dave LOL
Oh man, D6N woulda been the ticket in there! One of these days you're gonna surrender and buy one!
I kinda want a D6T
Hello, Jeff. I hope I'm finally subbed into you now. HNY etc. Phil
U buying that gem lol 😆
hell--a-caflopter?
At least that John Deere battery got it started
That's just lame Scott LOL
you and need to buy a little newer 1 and round out your fleet, it fit a spot like the backhoe does
Not the place you want to be running a slalom course! 😮
dont look like you looked her over to good before you got it
Maybe you can make a deal on that dozer with all the stuff that is wrong with it.
Tell if they give ta 5grand you will take it away for them 😉
7:07 Almost sounds like Glenn Hughes
Its probley scard jeff ... dozer probably done told it all kids stuff.... just wate camera goes off jeff going to put in ya mumhu 😆😆😆😆
RB Auction special? They should pay you rent.
Bro, that dozer is too big for you.
Do you fit in it
Those Friken old D4c+d's were a miserable POS when they were new, I'd stick to a D3 and skip to a D5 or larger and not even consider a D4. Friken foot steering only was a stupid idea anyway. Should put KillDozer to good use and end that D4.
why is that?
K-dozer must have eaten something nasty.
filter cake
Those models wouldn’t make a good yard ornament. It’s like fighting a gorilla all day.
Off to the auction with that cat
Been run hard and put away wet more than once!
Well, there's your problem. It's got John Deere batteries in it.
Happy New Year
Jeff, you silly, silly man.
I was ready for you to get the 14G up on that berm.
Shop Foreman Mr. Griffy approved.
thought about it, but it's to big
D4 needs a bit of love
👍

Happy New Year
Never seen a D3 of the size that would fit on the back of a 3/4 ton pickup.
Depending on what state your in and who you talk to its questionable to even legally towing a d3 behind a 3/4 or 1 ton truck.
Hey Jeffrey why cut the music!
Fortunate Son? because TH-cam would demonitize this video
it ain't easy, to do it right you need to pull the floor board seat and battery plus other crap thats in your way. there is a hydraulic valve for each clutch with cam roller , plus all the linkage you have to free up and adjust
Does the cab come off as an assembly
ok
Shame on you driving that little thing
Hiring you was like losing 3 good men. 😅
