Thanks for your review. This drone is for active people who want a drone to film them whilst they're moving around doing cool shit. It's not for the "typical" drone crowd shall we say.. I bought one, and will be selling my Mini 2 to compensate. I'm going to miss my mini 2 because I took it all over Europe, but to me, and for my use cases, this is the superior drone.
Thanks for watching! Solid summary regarding the differences between this and a standard drone. Spot on analysis. Sorry to see you part with the Mini. I’ve heard good things about it.

I found it two days after I made this video. Played around with it for my outro in a recent video and I kinda suck at controlling it while walking. Practice makes perfect, I guess.
@@moonshineandmarshmallows it takes some practice to get good at it. It’s kinda like backing up a trailer. I took it for my hike in Hawaii and on the beach and it was great.
@@CharlesLe-thephotographer love that analogy! Seems spot on. I’m hoping to get it out in the woods soon and see if I can avoid smacking it in to a few trees. 😃
I didn’t bring my whole camera set up with me, just a tripod for my IPhone so I wasn’t really in the app much. Hadn’t played around with it enough to realize there even was a dolly mode as I only ran programs from the device and not the app (until I noticed the firmware update). I actually found the dolly mode a few days after filming this. :-/ Thank you for the kind words!
@@moonshineandmarshmallows ahhh..gotcha! My order should be delivered tomorrow. I ordered the black device & I'm excited to play around with it. I just wish that the batteries lasted a bit longer but I suppose I'll get used to the shorter flight times in due time. 😀
It’s a sweet little device. The battery life is a bit short but they charge up quickly. I have a couple battery banks for outdoor trips and so far I’ve had plenty of flight time. Im just thrilled to be able to film with more depth than a tripod or selfie stick. 😆
@@moonshineandmarshmallows received my X1 earlier today & I luv it!! But do you know why it records separate video files for birds eye view & zoom out instead of one continuous file?? Kinda annoying....
@Reem_Geez I’ve spent a bit of time looking to see if they’ll fix that or provide an update for continuous recording. I’m told that the intent is to provide a zoom out and zoom in. Makes sense, but an option for continuous shooting wouldn’t upset me.
I can’t disagree with you there. I was thrilled to see them add verticals but that’s kinda the last big update they did. I’d like to see them add more features. The machine could certainly handle them!
I wish I knew. Every now and then, TH-cam only uploads an SD version of my videos regardless of how I filmed it. I’ve got an open help desk ticket on this. 🤷♂️
My ex wife would get so mad when I wore socks with sandals, especially when she made me go grocery shopping. Hey, the Romans wore socks with their sandals. Take it up with them.
None of my business, but that does sound like solid ex wife material right there! For better or worse, my wife lets me dress myself and just laughs at me all day.
Audio … nope, it records direct to the phone then it has AI in the app to cancel anything outside the voice audio and stitches that to the video. The drone has no mike. It will also kill other noise while doing it that was near the phone when the audio was recorded. Just to be clear
This x 100! Honestly I’m quite impressed with the noise canceling aspect. You can’t hear the drone at all! That said, I’d likely run a wireless mic to my phone while recording. When I did this video I just tucked my phone in my shirt pocket. It worked just fine but aesthetically it looks sloppy on film. Also, because the mic is closer than the camera, you will need to realign your audio with your video. That’s a quick process once you figure it out.
5 Flights and i have been unable to get decent audio with video and sync is terrible. I am ever so disappointed. Some how many video have managed to fool others in its perfection but its not not unless as usual I just got one of the bad eggs. For the price I feel rather hurt in the pocket.
I’m sorry to hear that. Honestly I don’t really use mine much for audio at all. While it’s a LOT easier to synch up post production on my laptop, I do a lot of editing from my phone and it takes forever to synch. I’ve love using it for adding some depth to my videos or getting some decent establishing shots without pulling out a bigger drone but now that I’m 6+ months removed from this review, I don’t use it nearly as much as I’d thought I would. 🥲
This was filmed at about 7pm on an overcast humid day. You can see that clearly by the standard non-drone footage. 99% of my review is on the features and options and very little is spent on the video quality as you can plainly see that for yourself. My final conclusion was “I’m not a tech guy but I like it and will keep it in my gear bag for future use”. That’s about as honest as a person can get as that is 100% the truth. THAT is my review. I never said anything about phenomenal picture quality, color lees, overexposure, saturation or anything else because my working knowledge is in real estate valuation and not photography. Final review: I like it and will use it. Period. Honestly. Thanks for watching.
@@moonshineandmarshmallowsActually, no. Whatever ground camera you were using showed none of that. Whether you were using a phone, dslr or something else, that footage was clear and properly exposed. The footage from that drone was as I described earlier. So that is how I judged your footage was from the 2 cameras you used. I know it's hard to say negative things when a company gives you free stuff. Dji is famous for not giving their stuff to honest reviewers.
@DannyFyffe so what you’re saying is that you could make an informed decision from the info you were provided? Not really sure what the complaint is. Again, my review was mostly an overview of features with the conclusion that “I like it and I’ll use it for some added depth to future videos”. Side note: perhaps I should have also reviewed the front facing camera on my IPhone 13 Pro.
@DannyFyffe also, I have no problem saying negative things regardless of where the stuff came from. I didn’t find too much negative about this from a (once again) non-tech guy who only ever bought one other drone and who could find some use for this in future videos.
Battery life is 10 to 15 minutes, made in China real cheap. If you are obsessed with filming yourself for some reason, it's £395 with two batteries and charging station with free shipping to the UK and Europe. Probably cost about 30 dollars to make.
Correct… although I’d imagine the R&D cost a few bucks too, and if we’re being honest, I can’t make one of these so I can’t begrudge anyone else making a profit on something I can’t do myself. Also, this is TH-cam… we are all obsessed with filming ourselves. It’s sorta the gimmick here.

Great review but I'm curious to know why no Dolly mode in your review video tho? That's likely the best feature.
