    Good choice of vehicle, 300tdi's are an overlander's choice, mainly because they are easy to maintain. There are a few things to make sure ou do with it, but it will give you smiles per mile. but please, keep it serviced, clean underneath and any unfamiliar sounds, get them checked out. I've been working on Landys for 30 odd years and owned them for the last 25... and yes, the picture is a 1997 300tdi 110.

      Absolutely! One of the reasons we’re so pleased we’ve got this incredible vehicle. And totally agree and hear you on maintenance. We actually have a daily, weekly and monthly check list we keep to. And we’re keeping our eyes 👀 and ears 👂 open for any noises! Thanks for the advice. Hope to meet up with you and your 110 on some track in the future 👊

      @@AndOtherHorizons I'm sure you will! Someone had spent a lot of money on the truck, so you should have a really good base for the trip. Oh, happy to help (free consultation) if you have anything unusual, I do this already for serveral overlanders like Gusto and A2A, they are good people so if you get the chance to meet up with them, they have a lot of stories for the campfire. 🙂 I've been rebuilding and modding vehicles for 30+ years. and hold a lot of info on the Defenders. so the offer is there. Most important thing is you enjoy where you are and see things.

      ❤❤❤ amazing! We’d love to have your and your 1997 defender 110 as company. We travelled through the dolomites a few months back and loved it!!! We’ll have to revisit with Sully and say hi to you guys 🥳

    Greetings from Pontassieve, province of Florence, Italy. I have a Suzuki Jimmy 4x4 with a 1.3 LT m13a gasoline engine from 2001, all original, which I use to go to the countryside, the forest and the mountains on agricultural and forest roads used by lumberyards.

      Hi. Great to meet you. We love Italy and the Tuscany region in particular! Great to hear about your Suzuki jimmy and the tracks you take it on. It’s so awesome getting off road. Can’t wait to show you where we’ve already taken our beast to in the last few weeks. Stay tuned for next week’s vid 😬👊

    I have a 300TDi Defender , and am looking at going the other way, and getting a big German van, I’d be keen to know what your thinking is behind the switch

    • @AndOtherHorizons
      @AndOtherHorizons  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi! Great to meet you. And we totally get wanting to go the other way - the space and ‘luxury’ it gives you on the road is amazing! We just wanted to be able to get to more remote places - a go anywhere vehicle! And still managed to retain some comfort with the conversion on our Landy. Which we’ll no doubt talk about soon. Feel free to shoot over any questions you may have. 👊

      @@AndOtherHorizons we like the look of the 4x4 Sprinter vans. I don’t know whether to deck out the Defender for touring, or something like the Sprinter.

    • @overlandready
      @overlandready 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@davemangle6448 honestly, you'll have more fun in the Defender, you do have to be a bit more minimalistic, but it's better as parts are generally available off the shelf almost anywhere and if not can get something in a few days. it'll take pretty much any fuel and a lot of oils will do, whereas the vans like the Sprinter it'll have to have good fuel, the right oils and parts are not that easy to get once you leave the European continental boundaries. As for general day-to-day, the van is a nicer place to sleep, but not as much fun.
