I couldn't put my finger on what it was about the gunplay that wasn't satisfying, but you articulated what I was feeling perfectly. The game definitely brings some fresh new things to the table, but as of right now, not sure if I'll be playing it a ton. I'm not a big fan of 3rd person shooters to begin with, but with all that said, still glad I gave the game a try and played a few hours.
Its the fast pace and how the game prioritizes mobility, yet the gunplay is very snappy and clunky. It doesn’t feel like it keeps up with the movement.
Sorry Merchant on this one, you are wrong. Wepons do have character, core mechanics are great. Optimization needs improvement, damage taken needs improvement. It is an early access, so lots of things need still some development. The NFT thing and meta loadout and P2W, I thought the same, but after 30 matches I won 10-13 matches without loadout in a team of only 2. Also having top loadouts and full epic gear, it cost in match currency so, for a full kited loadout you need to earn more money in the match to buy your loadout, it is not like Warzone, that all loadouts can be bought for the same in match money price.
That's exactly how I see it. I think it's a bit of a stretch to say that the game wouldn't last long because of the third person aspect, for example. Look at Fortnite or PUBG, the former in particular is still extremely popular, even though it has third person and elevation. Yes, the weapons could feel a little better and in other areas like in my case e.g. the server performance (lags, etc) needs to improve but as @nachoilf8226 and a few others mentioned, the game is in early access. You should give the developers some time before writing off the game, especially because they don't seem to have the experience like the guys from Apex, Fortnite or Warzone. Is it possible that the game quickly loses interest? Yes, of course. But I would give it some time to improve and give the developers a chance to show what they can do. For my part, I think the mechanics are amazing and changing the limbs is a unique selling point.
I kind of agree with him on the weapons the damage is unclear and I can’t tell which gun is more powerful . However there are a lot of things in this game that are pretty wild and original I think it’s gonna be a successful game but I felt a lot like what he described when I was playing it.
@@diehard7153 there are 2 gunranges, you can test there. To access, go to loadots and check the bottom of the screen, there is the key/button to access
I thought I was just being picky when I commented on the lack of seasoning in this game. Lack of satisfying sound and unique animation but excited to see how it’ll turn out. I trust in Neil Blomkamp’s relative process.
It’s funny how people complain about lack of good games out, then an early access comes out and streamers like this guy just bashes all of it. I enjoy the game. But games aren’t my whole life like these streamers whose only value in society is giving their opinions about the nitty gritty of games….
Well, we are just getting slop after slop. BUT, when a game like Space Marine 2, Elden Ring, Black Myth, or RDR2 come out... they receive endless praise. These games are following the old recipe for success, create a good (PASSIONATE) single purchase game... it will succeed. The principle of "Early Access" is flawed in itself, no need to ponder to these terrible practices. Be honest to yourself, you are no going to support this game after 12 months.
At least 10 it took me a couple days of 3 hour sessions to get everything down and adjust properly to how everything works now I'm cruising killing noobs and separating limbs
@@Thegamingmerchant mate, you are very soft on the game which you make your earnings off. I would've thought you were more welcoming of new games which aren't trading on the I.P. of others (Apex, COD, battlefield et al) history.

I agree your view on the gunplay, its why i switched from COD to APEX when Apex fist came out. But, i switched from APEX to this ever about a month ago when got to test it early. It certainly has some jank, but i really like the limbs mixed with the BR/Extraction aspect. It not for the limbs and the general freedom of movement, i wouldn't play it.
I found the game randomly on my feed like a week ago and the trailer really intrigued me. I like your pov on different aspects of the game. I'll still be trying out just to get a feel on if I'd play it more long term.
This game is amazing! Played for about 10 hours now and it's very addictive. If the dev team takes into consideration all the valuable feedback given in the first week already and improve what's possible, it will be huge!
It's not great right now. Things I can see them fixing are bugs like weapon change stops working and matchmaking is way too long. Larger issues are the clunky movement and hit reg seems to be way off.
Many companies nowadays tend to always rely on upscaling technologies as the new way of "Optimization". But forcing me to use DLSS or any other upscaling method at 1080p is just ridiculous. Especially when the majority of people play at 1080p / 1440p. The only way I got the game looking good, was to use 3k DSR resolution, and then DLSS makes its magic. This shouldn't be the way. I should be able to get a crispy clear image out of 1080p, without the need for the DLSS blanket. I know this is a free game, but unfortunately, I don't want this to become the norm. They got one job. They already save so much time not creating their own Engine. Even at 1440p DLSS looks horrendous, so I really don't know what they're doing. Upscaling is a cool technology, but it shouldn't go through that path. A new Anti-aliasing technology should be created ASAP instead.
The NFT part isn't directly tied to the game in anyway. It says it right in their FAQ. Why save the most troubling thing not only last, but without full context?
I think this is a prime example of you can’t actually know for yourself until you try because I couldn’t disagree more with this review absolutely loving it here regardless of issues
I got into a few games, always had insanely high ping, maybe 60-70 fps at best (with minimum settings on a 6700xt and a 7700x @1080p) and after like 5 games i just couldn't get back in anymore, i'd always get a connection error of somekind. This is not the state that you release, even an early access, game in. And it really sucks because i enjoyed the basic gameplay a lot, aside from the lag ofc.
There's zero gun feedback, it feels awful to fire a full auto gun. There's no like combat feel. I got 1 shot by somebody and had no idea they even shot me. no audio or visual anything. There's no indication when your armor breaks, you just die.
It reminds me of Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodhunt. There's plenty of good mechanics with a couple of cons that need work in order to make it a huge game on its final release. The cons are obviously the nonexistent enemy audio, and the most crucial is what Gaming Merchant brought up: the weapons. They feel slight compared to other 3rd person shooters. Need more identity, better bullet sfx, and punch to them. Enemy sound takes a backseat for now. If they focus on weapons, this game has big potential. The suit abilities and movement is pretty damn awesome. Optimization will get better over time.
As somebody with about 60 hours in the game already. I can tell you it feels way more rewarding than Apex when you do well in this game. Apex it's like "finally" but in Off The Grid I'm pretty much jumping outta my chair 😅
The game is really fun, movement mechanics are great, the cybernetics is a great idea but Idk if it’s just me or others are having lag issues and stuff like that. Now it is early access so optimization will definitely improve, never been a battle royale fan but I’m having a blast so far
There are minor glitches, but all these people complaining saying "its unplayable," i just dont get it. Maybe your PC is trash? Idk. But it runs fine on mine. I remember jumping in to apex on day 1 and dying instantly it sucked but there was something that just kept sucking me back in death after death. This game gives me the same exact vibes. It has extreme potential! I would like a FPS option with 3rd peraon dive mechanics like Apex but, its not a deal breaker for me in any way. Great game as is! Cant wait for full release.
7:30 is such a good point. Not everyone likes every game but you may be surprised at what you enjoy. Me and friends really enjoyed spellbreak, the skill gap was huge, the combos of weapons felt great. Maybe the community didn’t think so(it’s shut down now). Most likely BECAUSE it was a BR game when maybe it shouldn’t have. Looks like this may be the case here too. Doesn’t hurt to try it though (when it’s actually out lol)
That’s a pretty bad take, epic weapons are 72 GUNZ on average, you can make that in like 5 matches with otg pro, so you can buy a full epic build in less then a week of playing, other games take weeks to unlock the best gear
this review lost all credibility when you said "the game devs responsible for this game aren't game veterans and its easy to tell" receipts? sounds subjective to your "heaps" of game time (5 hours as you said) the fact you opened highlighting "everyone" is being sponsored to play it, kinda seems like someone didn't get the same deal and is pissy

Yeah I hate that stuff. Cause the majority people who get free access to promote, will never give honest thoughts, cause they want the developer to keep their emails on a list. So that they get included in future releases from that dev or w.e future events.
Agree with TGM on this one. 3rd person on a twitch shooter is really rough. Gunplay isn't great, aiming is brutal, audio is complete garbage, items all look very similar so looting isn't good either. I really wanted it to be good, but it sucks.
Couldn't be more wrong... loadouts are bought with money found in chest or by mission..by chest as little as 100 coins sometimes when a purple loadout will cost 5000 coins plus... 1 how many chest can you possibly open in the first 5 minutes without risking your life... it's no different then your loadout falling from the sky in COD FOR FREE... you failed to mention the better the loadout is the more money it cost... by the time you Get the money you've seen multiple great items
Even though I hate Apex Legends (mainly for what it did to the Titanfall community combined with new players and EA), I think this might have been the most helpfull video on this game so far
Fun game. I disagree about all you need to do is go the highest building of the game and you'll win. There so much movement where you can traverse around the map pretty well. Still early access and performance needs to be worked on badly. I think there's something there for being a 3rd person BR game, we'll see. I dont care for the NFT stuff. If they do it right, it'll be like counter strike which has lived for so long in gaming. I dont know. lol
R5 5600x, 16gb ram, rtx 3070, low to medium settings, dlss balanced and around 30fps while dropping, 80fps edge map areas and 45-55fps combat and busy areas… am I doing something wrong?
I’m just not into 3rd person shooters. Fortnite is Ok, but it’s FPS all the way for me. It feels more immersive and you can properly ads. The game looks nice and I think it would be much better as an FPS. The dive animations kinda remind me of Revenants dive animation 😆
This genre is just too saturated.... it would be impossible to beat the giants that control it such as Apex, Fortnite... etc. The marketing was great, but they should have used the development talent to create a game that encapsulates what gaming used to be.... seems like developers are reaching success by following the old formulas.
Looks good but could get more optimized tbh , there's always a room for improvement. Can't wait really for what version 3.0 for gaming projects like sinverse has to offer
Games def got a shot. Apex, pubg, fortnite warzone players can each find something to make them feel at home. And for those who have been playing those games for years, otg is refreshing. I do agree with loadout builder as thats why i tend to stay off warzone. We need competition these devs have gotten too comfortable and lazy thinking their games arent going anywhere
The console version is poorly optimized with server instability, FPS drops and stutter, controller feel is floaty and inconsistent senses in setting. It has potential but after watching those paid PC streams, they got an optimized build compared to consoles.
Yea sadly i agree wont last long :( would make an amazing FPS Sandbox, sol player story-player game though the Lore :) with AI-NPC combat tech soon, can tweak combat to your skill level, etc, thats comming soon in games. hopefully here soon aswell? so dont have to deal with online leets, hackers etc "Internet is Dead" theory etc :) good review
Just needs a few optimisation patches and hell yeah. I am hooked. I am running 35-55 fps on a 4k 55' tv with a 3080 just fine. This game in my opinion is the best Battle Royale out.
The game is great I’ve been playing and uploading content since it realised but it could fail, hard if they allow it to go full pay to win. It’s early days so not a major issue rn but has the potential to blow up in their faces.
I dont think this one is for me. Played about 4 hours... and Outside of the fact that its Early Access, the breaking of bionic legs from a height is a bit too gimmicky for me. Its true about the gun feel too. The environments have way too many pointy bits sticking out that you can get stuck on and it looked very grainy. All things they can work on of course, but I will pass for now.
The thing that drew me in was that it’s 3rd person. Looks like the division, but I haven’t tried it. Once I saw Battle royale I checked out. Happy for those who enjoy them, but I just don’t anymore. Think they’ve seen their time and it’s just boring to play anymore.
It is good but the performance issues and it being early access is a big thing PEOPLE NEED TO UNDERSTAND it’s still a year or two off of fully being ready
Totally agree with you . This is gonna be a pay to win game and you can already feel that if you don’t have a good gym it takes 300 bullets to down someone
FUI, The only difference between rarities is the number of attachments you can put and those are for lower recoil and maybe better accuracy, not increased damage. Also, common and epic weapons do same dmg
I mean, literally any free game is worth downloading and trying, but after a handful of games I'm not that impressed. I like some of the concepts and it seems like a game that could potentially be fun if it looked and felt like a AAA game, but I don't think that's ever going to happen with this one. I fear the performance and bugs and overall look of the game won't improve enough by the time it's "released". Would love to be wrong here, as I've been on the lookout for a new/different game to play that isn't apex, but I don't think I will be

Don't know....hopefully all issues get fixed...just gotta let the devs know....other than that...awsome game....so good😊

I'm having fun atm and will see how long that last. This all depends on how the devs implement new things and how long it takes. Also, I'm assuming the cheating is going to be really relevant in the next couple of weeks and I would like to see how they handle that.

@@rCrypto_Frog4148 full game releases in a month that ain't an excuse
Game doesn’t have anything to prove. Game takes it’s own route.
I agree with this message 👍
I kind of agree with him on the weapons the damage is unclear and I can’t tell which gun is more powerful . However there are a lot of things in this game that are pretty wild and original I think it’s gonna be a successful game but I felt a lot like what he described when I was playing it.
@@diehard7153 there are 2 gunranges, you can test there. To access, go to loadots and check the bottom of the screen, there is the key/button to access
stopped listening when he said apex legends is a masterpiece.
There are plenty of early access that get praises lol. This one just aint it.
This game has the vibe it's gonna go "Off the Grid" within 1 year

This game is AMAZING!
I’m doing good in the game , but not gonna lie the audio needs work, u also got issues with shooting system
I found the game randomly on my feed like a week ago and the trailer really intrigued me. I like your pov on different aspects of the game. I'll still be trying out just to get a feel on if I'd play it more long term.
Game is great fun to play with friends. Only thing holding it back is the performance
Not a fan of third person shooters but the base of mechanics, movement and the whole grinding for gear is amazing .
I hate that everyone is adopting the Battle Royale cuz this looks like it could be a really fun game if it had small map multiplayer
Could not agree more about the shooting mechanics. It felt like none of my muscle memory from years of shooters applied to this game
The game has not been officially released yet, so I would not tell people what I think of a game that is still being developed.
Thanks for the honest “first impression” video!
My biggest complaint is that gunplay feels sloppy and soft, not very immersive. That might make sense to some people.
That’s a pretty bad take, epic weapons are 72 GUNZ on average, you can make that in like 5 matches with otg pro, so you can buy a full epic build in less then a week of playing, other games take weeks to unlock the best gear
this review lost all credibility when you said "the game devs responsible for this game aren't game veterans and its easy to tell"
receipts? sounds subjective to your "heaps" of game time (5 hours as you said)
the fact you opened highlighting "everyone" is being sponsored to play it, kinda seems like someone didn't get the same deal and is pissy
He just gave his opinion as a veteran fps player, where the f did you read 'review' in his video title? He has the experience you don't have, so of course he can feel the game better than you, little timmy playing casually..
@@2Free2Play I’m not gonna lie I can’t review a game if u only play 5 hours, he’s absolutely wrong bout the game an too me he more so being a bad loser an not putting time to try an learn the game
@@2Free2Play A veteran fps player playing 5 hours and thinking it's enough to comprehend this kind of game is just stupid.
There are dozens of Arms + Skills, this is not the basic run and shoot like Apex and COD, the skill gap in this is huge. Of course if you play and gets destroyed like him in first few hours, you're gonna be like " i don't feel this game".
@@ThePeacefullmindI don't feel like you need more than 5 hours to get the 'bigger picture', the loop gameplay of a game, how shooting a weapon feels like, how it sounds, aesthetics, etc.. To get good, yeah sure, but we're not talking about that
@@2Free2Play actually you do. He s been mentionning many times that that weapons feels sluggish, you just need to stay on high ground, you dont know from where you re being shot. Well when u re used to Apex, of course u re gonna feel that way. its just a matter of getting used to it. Im a pro counterstrike player, i can assure you that you cannot judge off the grid in few hour. Its like playing Apex without knowing how to run and saying "the game feels slow".
Check any other review on internet, everyone is saying the game is incredibly fun. I wouldnt mind if he actually played the game 2/3 days and said he doesnt enjoy it, but playing few hours and judging it is biased and very unprofessional.
Worth Playing. Yes
Thank you for saving me a download
The dive animations kinda remind me of Revenants dive animation 😆
you should thoroughly read the user agreement
This genre is just too saturated.... it would be impossible to beat the giants that control it such as Apex, Fortnite... etc. The marketing was great, but they should have used the development talent to create a game that encapsulates what gaming used to be.... seems like developers are reaching success by following the old formulas.
Basically, the movement is cool with being able to fly and grapple all over the place(the 3D verticality). Everything else seems low quality.
Been playing only SinVerse for a while now gave off the grid a chance and it’s worth playing
Its early days, watch this space.. If the devs take even HALF of your advice it might be a super fun playable experience
Looks good but could get more optimized tbh , there's always a room for improvement. Can't wait really for what version 3.0 for gaming projects like sinverse has to offer
I played it. The beta on ps5 im no good at it ngl. But I think I will stick with apex for my br game. I like the 3rd person view tho.
It has potential to be a big game. I like the uniqueness of it compared to other BR games
IMO, off the grid is quite good. Been playing it a lot alongside Sinverse and they’re both fire 🔥
Have to say the guns feel good in this game totally disagree that comment, however receiving damage needs to be modified for feedback
The console version is poorly optimized with server instability, FPS drops and stutter, controller feel is floaty and inconsistent senses in setting. It has potential but after watching those paid PC streams, they got an optimized build compared to consoles.
I haven’t on PS5, XBOX?
This is early access btw. Also from the start of this guy's video I knew he was going to be biased because he's an apex mark
Make it so you can only purchase nft weapons after reaching a certain level/rank.
this guy calling apex a piece of art is LAUGHABLE
i'm talking specifically about the gun mechanics in apex, call of duty, and battlefield
Apex is the best BR out there
If it wasn't, it wouldn't be so popular and so successful.
Keep huffing that copium 🤣
Apex really is the best , coming from an 15 year + call of duty player , it’s better than every BR ever and the ranked play is super competitive

'Even in battlefield' battlefield kills feel the best/most realistic.
It is good but the performance issues and it being early access is a big thing PEOPLE NEED TO UNDERSTAND it’s still a year or two off of fully being ready
Exactly! But I’m gonna support this game like crazy! I love it might stream it myself
Don’t see how you can say there’s no feel to when you take damage when you literally lose limbs whej targetted in different areas
Would love to be wrong here, as I've been on the lookout for a new/different game to play that isn't apex, but I don't think I will be
I really want to like this game.... but I feel like I'm not going to play it much longer.
Decent game, still a lot of time for improvement though, can't wait to play it along with Sinverse, especially with the latter's v3.0 coming soon
People keep saying it’s early access. Blah, blah, blah… stfu. That’s the problem with gaming now! Idgaf you lose all benefit of the doubt when you have micro transactions. The game is broken but the store works perfectly fine. Predatory practices have never been so clear!😂😂😂 I’ll pass on this 🐂 💩
So basically cod zombies without the zombies and 3rd person
Breaking News: Gamer dislikes early access game for being unrefined and not yet finalised.
In my opinion the performance of the game is just really bad
Add a first person mode and this game is going to be good
The optimization is alright, it only gets better too
OTG and sinverse is best games for me rn
How are you able to show videos of the game? I was told I’m not aloud to stream it or show videos because it would breach the beta agreement.
I like giving new battle royales a go, even though this one doesnt look like its for me i did enjoy the vampire masquerade battle royale during its time so idk
Give me more frames and I’ll love it, just hard to like actually enjoy it to it’s full potential when it releases while the performance is this low.
i played this with my buddy and zooming around the map and messing around with all the different cybernetics was supee fun
for those saying the jankiness will be fixed cause its early access
No lol, it wont be fixed, games dont just fix a core thing such as that so easily when they are this deep into development
if they are releasing early access with jank like this then it will be jank like this, only thing that is getting fixed are bugs
it looks like mobile game tbh
I don't have fun, because the specs are so HIGH that I won't even be able to play it even in the next 3 years xD
Also, there are rumors this is a Crypto miner, behind a somehow really fun game.
Sinverse should have the same pr as off the grid, both games are nice
It's a great concept...seems like a mix of the devision meets Cod warfighter. About my only gripe with the game so far is the cross-hair aiming downsight....I have even upped the anti on the reticule but still seems to be off. Don't know....hopefully all issues get fixed...just gotta let the devs know....other than that...awsome game....so good😊
I hope they introduce a firing range, to get one chance to learn the weapons and movement. I tried playing but hard time trying to get the feel. Also not sure if it's just me but I have no footstep sounds.
