@@shannontaylor9541 Hi, I suggest all the Arithmetic Reasoning and Math Knowledge videos, they were very helpful for me to understand the formulas and how to calculate any of those problems. All the problems you see in this videos are in the official ASVAB and as well in any book that help you to pass the test ( Dummies, Kaplan 2019, etc ). I was scared about the Math and Arithmetic field but nothing is hard once you study and get it in your mind.

I took the ASVAB last year when my husband was joining the Navy and scored low but passing (I was at the recruiters office to give moral support to my husband, they said I should take the test in case I want to join). I'll be joining the Navy in the next two years and your videos are helping a lot with my understanding of the equations and the process needed to solve them. Math was my favorite subject in highschool, once you learn the formulas and how to set up as equation... it all just starts to click and when you get that correct answer it’s very rewarding and you just want continue to learn and test your brainpower. I can do the math but I cant for the life of me write the equations down for me to solve them.
The way they word the problems always gets me confused.
It sounds as if you need to keep practicing.

Pretty much these exact problems are on the test, just different numbers. If you learn how to work all these problems, you’ll learn how to work the problems in the test.
I sadly scored a 22 today.. Take it again next week. But i gotta work on arithmetic reasoning and word knowledge
rahmel askew Try what I did. Pause the video before he works each question, then try to solve it yourself. After you finish each question, see what you did correct and incorrect. If you must, do this for multiple videos. And for word knowledge, there is no substitute for reading, but since you are pressed on time, look up vocabulary flash cards online. You can also read the dictionary and find the words you learned in the there, in a thesaurus. You’ll get it, brother. Just keep working hard👍🏾

On the last problem dealing with coins. Imagine you have stacks of coins sitting in front of you. then, by using the answer choices provided(in this case imagine stacks of 5,6,7 and 8 quarters), determine the value of the stack(i.e. 5 quarters is $1.25). We know the total stack of coins is 11 nickels + X quarters + X nickels. So what i do is just toy around with the answer choices for like 30 secs figuring out the would-be total amounts IF that were the correct choice. This process worked faster for me than the way shown. Not saying it will work for everybody. Thank you for this series i plan on taking my ASVAB in the next 4 months to qualify for WOCS (warrant officer candidate school) to then go to WOFT( warrant officer flight training) to hopefully fly the Apache Longbow. I desperately needed this refresher on basic paper math skills.
Since it's a multiple choice test, you'll absolutely be able to use the answer choices to quickly solve several of the problems. In hindsight, I should have probably mentioned that in this video (I usually do). I wish you the best of luck qualifying for WOCS; it sounds as if you know what it's going to take to make yourself a competitive applicant, which puts you at a big advantage.

Honestly, shout out to you man. Thank you so much for helping me remember/understand how to do long division. I take the actual ASVAB at the end of this month and I've been nervous. But after watching this whole vid and pausing to work it out and then listening to you explain it, man I feel so much more confident. With the ratio problem, it’s slight confusing and I’m not understanding why you chose to add them and get “8”.. & how would you know to put it in joy place instead of rod. I’ve been pausing your video before you solve the equation and just doing it in my head and getting them right almost every time. Do you have to show your work for on the test to prove you know how to do it or no?
Nope. It's multiple choice, and the only thing graded is the answer you pick.
I’m taking my ASVAB next week. I got the book but it still didn’t make sense to me. This helped so much though. For the first time I actually feel like I understand what I’m learning. My only thing is being able to remember which formula goes with the questions. Hopefully I can remember.
If you practice enough, you should get to the point where you just inherently know the formulas you'll need for the test (e.g., area of circle, circumference, Pythagorean theorem, and the like). How much is enough? I'd say a minimum of 10 practice tests. Good luck!

If you look around my channel, you'll find videos in which I work out questions that are significantly harder! In fact, some of the questions stump me for a minute or two!
Your making me realize how different my solving process is from what they tried to teach me in school. Yay for Dyslexia! lol. I need to work on my wrote procedural memory... If they ask me to show my work in "A" school or "C" school I need to show them what they expect to see. XD

my problem is always that i solve problems in more of a real world kind of way. for instance on the distance /mph questions i just kinda already know what to divide and i start dividing, which was fine through some of my high school til things started getting harder and i started to need to use those formulas lol is this the way you mean as to how you get the answer a different way?

I was hoping that there would be more difficult questions, To be honest these were easily enough for me to solve on my own.
The ASVAB only covers up to 10th grade math, and the vast majority of it is centered around 4th to 8th grade math (e.g., long division, fractions, decimals, and the like).
I scored a 65 on the practice test at my recruiters office. I am shooting for 70+ on the real ASVAB

I’m trying to improve my GT score. I took the picat at the recruiting office and scored a 97 GT. However I fell short while taking the ASVAB, I scored an 88 GT. I’m a bit overwhelmed with the math, in particularly the MK section. What should I prioritize first/most when studying?
Hi! I'm taking the ASVAB but it's called Picat ASVAB, is that the same as the CAT asvab?
The Pre-screening, internet-delivered Computer Adaptive Test (PiCAT) is what recruiters use to determine if they're going to send someone to take the real ASVAB, and every potential recruit takes it.
If you score high enough on the PiCAT, chances are you'll be sent to MEPs to take the official test. If you don't score high enough, they may advise you to spend more time studying before you take the real test.
Either way, your scores on the PiCAT are not official. That said, the questions on the PiCAT are very similar to what's on the real test.
