Thanks Nick…….been waiting for this. I was going to come to show just to see this boat…….but things changed.
For me, it’s between this boat and Jeaneau nc 895. I love the side door and walkway to bow on jeaneau.
I’m 6’3” so it will come down to which has more headroom……..or possibly neither one. 🤷‍♂️
I haven’t seen either boat in person yet.
    Thanks…..great walkthrough !

Hi Tom, both great boats, I definitely recommend getting in both of them when you can and see how you fit.

Very well done and informative video, thanks. I'm not crazy about the materials used in the berths. It seems a bit intrepid to scoot up to the bow in a moving sea state. The idea of a wet head with wood components is nod good, having the electronics housed underneath the wood door in the wet head is worse. Is this boat available with Yamaha's Helm Master joystick? Good weekender or short hopper for a couple.

Great overview. My critique of the Cutwater was the too "classic" design. This update addresses that very well. However, I went with a 2021 Jeanneau NC 895 Offshore with twin 200's. The Cutwater has some areas with higher fit and finish, but is priced accordingly. The Jeanneau NC 895 Is a perfect weekender, we love it. It was a great value, as we ordered in 2020.

I've been trying to find someone with an NC895 in the PNW area for ages and make friends with them? Why? To go boating with them a few times to see how I like the 895. My wife and I have been eyeing this boat for a long time but we've always seen this boat either indoors or on a gloomy day. Would love to actually go out and spend the day on one to see if it does feel claustrophobic like my wife thinks or not.

$300,000 boat, with a 15” TV, I love the concept of the Cutwaters, however with 3 or more people, it takes a lot of coordination to use all the features, seats in cockpit, main salon, storage, accessing second cabin and using dining table in main salon. Boat is designed for use by four people, but is best suited for a couple, small kids would be a nightmare. Fit and finish is very good, great power plant, large sunroof in salon would be great. Is it trailerable with the extra width without a trip permit?

    • @seikibrian8641
      @seikibrian8641 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Where I live, a permit would be required. My brother just sold his Ranger Tugs R-29, and it required a permit to tow, too, but he rarely towed it; he kept it in the water at a marina. If frequent towing is expected, a C-248 or R-27 would be a better choice.

Cutwaters are well built and with a lot of thought for the end user, but....it is WAY too enclosed for southern boaters. The Jeanneau and Axopar boats have a more indoor/outdoor feel and are the new major trend for southern boaters. I mean what's the purpose of getting out in the gulf if your are in a tightly sealed container without easy bow access and a bow that sits up high and limits vision? Good move to go with twin outboards.

Are these sea worthy and well built boats? I've heard so much negative info on the Ranger Tugs, enough to make us purchase a different boat. But now we want something bigger. I've heard build quality on Ranger Tug is terrible.

    • @navajasrs2402

For what it's worth, so have I. My next-door neighbors are only recently off dock living after 30 years and have a lot of boating experience. When I asked about Ranger Tugs they were a very hard pass, going so far as to say if they were gifted a Ranger they would just sell it sight unseen and buy something else. When I asked about Cutwaters they both enthusiastically said they were *great* boats. I simply can not find the same negative critiques about Cutwater that I can for Rangers, which is very very odd for obvious reasons.
Must be said, there are is a large population of people very happy with their Ranger Tugs, and some of the negative sentiment out there against Rangers is wrapped up in some dismissive boat snob elitism.

@@kirkwilliams4942 What's more, I just finished a five day power boat training and the Fleet Captain of the charter company had very similar things to say: Mostly negative about Rangers, almost entirely positive about Cutwater.
      I just don't get it.
Also over heard a worker cleaning what must have been a five million dollar yacht in Friday Harbor saying he used to work at Ranger for five years and that they are disasters. They cram so much stuff into those little hulls and then just squash the deck down on top. To service, repair or replace common components sometimes requires drilling holes in bulkheads and maintenance is a nightmare.
Good luck with your choice Kirk.

@@navajasrs2402 Ah, we just sold our 2021 C-Dory. We had a small place on SJI near Roche Harbor. Long story, family death has changed everything for us for awhile but we'll be back. I was also ready another review of someone that has anew Cutwater for 4 years and says it held up terrible. Cheap construction, rusty stainless. Which would not surprise me if Ranger is building them. We got sucked into the Ranger Tugs for years and almost bought one. Then at a BBQ in Soodry Whooly I talked to two service guys that told me how junky they were. They really like most of the aluminum boats, Hewes Craft etc and the other NMI boats like the Sea Sport, We're looking either Sea Sport or Hewes maybe. We really like the Aspen Cat but the pie of those keeps climbing. We did a sea trail 2 years ago and I have not been on a more impressive boat. Top notch and I suppose worth the asking price if one had the funds.

Ranger has a huge following and in doing so I think they also have many “new” owners who do not read their manuals and having a huge following one is bound to have a lot of comments both good and bad. Give Jeanneau time and they too will have plenty of unhappy owners for example. A lot of stuff packed in these things

  • @navajasrs2402

Oh my god. Why are they still using that nasty off white Scamp fur on the guest berth?! Such a beautiful interior with high quality materials... and then just the nastiest uncleanable bargain bin mutt fur faux carpet in that one spot. And it's a spot where if, like us, you actually intend to USE it for sleeping you're right next to it, bumping into it.
    Ugh.
    Come on Fluid, it's . 😕
