In eastern Idaho, the Big Southern Butte route from Blackfoot through the Arco Desert was 96 miles unsupported (packing in water, ☕ 🍵 🥯 🥓 for 100 miles and 11 hours in the saddle) in sand, dirt, and huge rocks for my most difficult off-road route ever.
Nearly 200 km, with multiple stops (of course) on varying cross-country road conditions. Lots of love, cheers, & Mabuhay, from my end--the Philippines! #RideOn #KeepBiking
97 km from Sälen to Mora a race called Cykelvasan in Sweden. My goals were not to win but to make the whole thing. Those doing serious racing are doing it from 2-3 hours.
First of all, I ride my bikes for one sole purpose: Pleasure! The most amount of pleasure I can take from my rides is my goal! So, what do I think of Rich Payne achivements? He is an impressive, utterly relentless non pro athlete! And he is also insane!!! Lolol! God bless you, my friend! All the best from Coimbra, Portugal!
I think that's a bit harsh Peter...wether refering to me(hope not...) or to Rich Payne...Within his videos he contributed immensely to give me knowledge about a lot of realitys. And he is a true competitor. The thing, for me is, 24 hrs peddaling your bike, in various events...you're still trying to prove something to yourself! And at that age I wonder what... It isn't fun, it isn't good, it's horrible and dangerous! But, I'm not Rich...just hope he nevers injures himself.
@@luismartins9521 Oh it was fully intended as a complement!! Sorry if it didn't come over that way. What I mean by that is someone who approaches their sport like a professional even though they're an amateur. It was intended in a very respectful way. Absolute maximum respect. 👍👍
You should be very proud of yourself just simply for finishing ! Big shout out to your crew and volunteers the unsung heroes of any event .Kudos to all
..and this is why Rich is one of my inspirations when coming to epic rides. I watched all these and truly loved every minute of it. He shows us we can accomplish anything.
He's a top geezer is Rich, always comes across really well and his positive determination is inspiring. Thanks for all you do Rich, hats off and more xc please!
I did Strathpuffer this year. But as part of a relay team of 4. We were still absolutely destroyed. Makes your achievement seem so impressive Rich As an aside it was much colder this year, snow and ice on the ground and something of a winter wonderland to ride in. It’s a brilliant event. So friendly
@ I think I’ll do the Chiller 24 in November for variety sake. I can’t imagine better conditions at the puffer so I’d rather keep that perfect memory for.a while at least. I’m going to add in t’en under the Ben in June as well. I like to try different events, making memories I guess. Definitely got the bug for these endurance MTb events though , but it’s pairs or quads for me. Rich and the like are on another level. Big respect✊
Awesome Rich, I watched you do them all and even though the pain you went through was obviously visible you still made it inspirational. Well done to you and the crew. It can't be easy getting great footage & creating fantastic content in some of the gnarliest weather the UK has to offer. I hope you and Blake do some more challenges together. It's always nice to see a team supporting each other. Looking forward to the next, stay safe! 🤙🏻
In 2019, I did the Dragonslayer near Austin, TX. Three 30 mile laps of an IMBA Epic trail. Known for it's relentless gnar, it's a very difficult challenge, hardest day of life. Digging deep, for sure. Great summary of your challenges!
I enjoy all of your challenges Rich, my favourite was your coast to coast from St bees to RHB. Not the gnarliest, but one I've watched a few times over.
What and achievement Rich, what-an-achievement! And I didn't even know there's such a thing as 'annoyingly positive'. I do think the one that put you in the hospital should top the list Would you do any of it again, and which one would it be? And what do you think about night riding in terms of safety and has the safety aspect of it improved (or not) over time? (I'm against night riding for road biking but I don't know about night riding for MTB) My longest ride? Alice Springs to Adelaide over 7 days back in 99'. Craziest? You don't wanna know ...
Oof great question, I'd try another marathon WC maybe and i loved the exploring of north to south wales so watch this space. Annoyingly positive. Rich👊
Wasn't the 24 H in the OP AZ just after the Strathpuffer? Fantastic that you made it "across the pond" twice and had that redemption ride! Hope you or other GCN riders make it back out here! ...btw...we have had miserable conditions before...just say'in if someone is looking for an epic ride and wants to roll the dice and sign up!!!
Come and do the Convict 100 MTB race in Australia. Just over 2,000m of climbing over 100km and some of the trail was built by convicts during the early colonial days on the outskirts of Sydney
I trained for a 24hr race in 2022 that didnt happen. Later I wanted to do another long ride, but illness got me. It wasnt until 2024 that I got the ride done. In Missouri there is a trail called the Katy Trail. Its "flat" 240 miles that I aimed to complete in 24 hrs. The temps were crazy too. Started in 50F, went down to 36F, then up to 89F and finalized at 66F. I did finish the ride btw. It does test the mental toughness.
I am a newbie, wanting to build up. I have done up 30 on mtn bike mostly blues and greens. I was exhausted at the end. Hopefully can do a little longer ride later. A real inspiration you are about not giving up when the moments get tough.
I rode the capitol trail in Scotland on a single speed rigid 26inch steel mtb. Started out nice weather then it rained 2/3rds the whole ride That wore me down haha
All I have to say is cheers 🍻 mate .I am so jealous working hard at getting back into my formal self why did I smoke for 6years but smoke free now I'm a mountain biking machine would love to do 24hrs prove old dogs can do new tricks 🎉
These races are absolutely bonkers. When I've done a middle distance triathlon it's "only" about 6 hours and you are wasted. Going four times more is just crazy. Congrats man!
In July 2026, my buddies and I plan on riding across Canada for LPa awareness. This is a genetic blood disease that causes plaque build up in the blood. So essentially, it causes early heart attack and stroke. So, I guess my longest ride will be that one.
@@gmbnfor sure, she's probably the GOAT. Would be amazing just to see how the two of you would compare though, the stuff you've done is already way beyond us mere mortals, would be mad to see how it then compares to a absolute machine like Lael. And you're both hugely inspiring to see for those of us that still drag ourselves over epic mountain rides on acoustic bikes. Anyway, just a thought.
You are a mental mad man!! It's super human what you have accomplished evidence that we are created in the image of God. Thank you for sharing the psychological aspect and the difficulties you experience in such detail. I have such respect for you God bless you
What's the longest ride you've ever been on?

Looking at his amazing efforts mine seems a bit naff but I rode 117 miles on a wiggle dragon ride.( On a road bike I must add).
Have done Silkroad Mountain Race in Kyrgyzstan, 1900Km in 12 days.
97 km from Sälen to Mora a race called Cykelvasan in Sweden. My goals were not to win but to make the whole thing. Those doing serious racing are doing it from 2-3 hours.

Well done Rich, despite my years of experience riding I've learned alot from watching you race.
Rich Payne bringing the pain. He's definitely an endurance beast. Just remind him not to kill himself riding like he almost did. 😎👍
Grit and determination man, you truly are a beast. Which marathon is next?
We've got a few that we're looking at for this year! Still piecing some plans together right now

Rich, you should try an "Obr Drásal" race in the czech republic. Not 24h race, but tough one too.
Come do the Munga in South Africa! 1100km in 120hours! Get S.A. on the map and experience the Beautiful Karoo to Wellington!
Love the vids ❤️ keep it up 👍
Thanks! Will do
Good work rich! Longest I’ve ridden was 12 hours 4000m of climbing 😱 full on!

It would seem a rear fender might be some handy kit?
Incredible!
Great job Rich! 💪💪💪💪
Appreciate it!!
I think the man that doesn't feel the cold & loves endurance NEEDS to participate in the Iditarod on a Fatbike

Pain lover when you challenged yourself to the limits true bikers
Time to get into bikepack racing.
How about the Tour Divide? It's a ride/race down the continental divide (North America) from Canada to Mexico. It looks really brutal
Legend 👌
I think it is time to revisit the Megaavalanche for the team
You are a best!
You should come to Texas and ride in 24 Hours in the Canyon.
You should do Tour Divide.
Look like you’re gonna move on over to EMBN too
Next time take a mud guard in Scotland...:)
thought number one would be having to ride a road bike rather than a manly MTB. i'm a noob! lol
Reason for number 1 is that Rich has to put gloves on 🧤🧤😁

How about a tie up with Lael Wilcox, be amazing to see two of you take on an ultra ride.
That would be rad but Lael is another level! It would be a tough video trying to keep up with her for a day let alone a whole ultra

Well at this point the only thing left is the Tour Divide isn't it?

Strathpuffer on a singlespeed next time

3 days 6 hours 15min ???
