I'm not being a Supra 12 yr old fan, but the old engines like the 2JZ are a real gems, just look at how much it can do being so old. A beast made by Toyota.
While I can agree with your first half of sentence, this particular 2JZ is not even Factory anymore except for the Block itself. It's pushing 1200 Horses 900-100ish Torque because it's Built. Though it doesn't stop the 2JZ from being a legendary engine. After all people easily produce 600-700 horses on stock bottom end. Very few who got lucky and pushed it further
Head gasket and studs cam push 800 fine 1000 if you're lucky without head work your relying on boost stock rotating assemblys on many engines can handle a fair bit k24a2 will take 800 for a little while @@SentientOrang
@@BIGSMOKE-bl2lq What Head Gasket? Are you talking about NA-T route or the GTE? Cause GTE already has a thick headgasket made for low compression ratio, if anything that's the least of your worries. ARP Head studs would definitely keep everything tight and snug especially past 500 horses. Stock 2JZGE/GTE rods and pistons can handle 8500 RPMs just fine, but you'll definitely encounter valve float above 7000 rpms which won't be a great story, unless you get stiffer springs and retainers. 800 is a stretch, and 1000 horses on factory internals is CRAZY RARE unless the setup and tune is thoroughly and carefully planned. The average you can squeeze out of a 2JZGTE or a Non VVT-i GE bottom end is around 600 WHP. People who make too much torque at earlier rpms snap their rods at even around 500 horses, that's why they tend to use bigger turbos and tune their power at the top of the rev range just to be more forgiving internals & drivetrain. Let's be realistic when it comes to achievable power goals

3:41 i like this part. i like to think how the engine is doing all the combustion to make those force to push tires and stuff. Doesn't look much but its 80 to 140 - 220 then 260 in few seconds, the air resistance, the year when this car was built...could be any car but you know supra from nfs underground 2 was my fav so childhood memories. amazing
the sound at idle...before you even got into the drivers seat.....amazing. i bet the exhaust pulse hits like a hammer at 12 feet away. amazing car, amazing motor. i worked at toyota when these beasts were released to the public. even just the stock twin turbo kicked the crap out of every car north of $100k. I think the porsche 911 beat it 0-60 mph time but that was pretty much it except for the hand built exotics. they let people from the dealerships drive it at a local track here in wa state and they did not even flinch when all the guys brought it in with brake rotors just GLOWING red. car never missed a beat. never complained. never broke. just smashed lap after lap after lap.
Those Japanese can engineer stuff like nobody else. I appreciate it every time I'm either driving my unbreakable 97 camry or my equally reliable 08 ninja 650.

Drove around in one my friend's (a neighbour as well luckily) Toyota Supra which was a 850 HP one though he did plan (COVID-19 and other RL issues prevented it until now) to bump it up as high as he could without changing the external appearance of the car.
