- The Livewell XL is Hobie's largest capacity livewell (for use on Pro Angler series kayaks only). The self contained system is feature rich, holds loads of rods vertically and keeps bait alive all day long thanks to the high flow pump, included 6V battery and charger, and round interior of the tank. Howie walks through the complete setup, and installation on a Pro Angler series kayak and gives some pro tips along the way that you won't want to miss.

Very nice, as a Pro Saltwater fisherman it is imperative to have livebait capabilities. Every tournament I've won was on livebait.
READ THIS BEFORE BUYING!!! The pump in this livewell needs to be primed or else it wont pump water inside. That means you can pedal as fast as you can 5-10mph and this pump will still not pump water inside until you prime it. Hobie should include a priming bulb with is. Others have had to design their own primer whether using a long straw and sucking the water into up and into the pump with their mouths, or using a small priming bulb inside the well.
Also, this livewell will make a complete mess outside of the water if it has water inside. The red exhaust tube does not seal well what so ever, not even if you manually press down on it, so you cant carry fish or bait in them while outside the water. For 500 dollars I am highly upset I’ve had to figure all this out on my own. Hobie should make this right.
Also, as if that isnt enough, Hobie designed a new power switch for this livewell because the original one kept failing. Its covered under their warranty, but this is just one more thing on top of everything.
So no announcements @ icast this yr??
When underway, can you stow the heavy duty cart when the livewell xl is installed as well?
I have a fully rigged PA 14 with this livewell and I am not able to get it to fill above 1/4 capacity, even with the c-clip attached (it doesn't even completely cover the opening...). Priming works most of the time with a pedal forward but I don't understand why I can't get my tank full. My sardines really struggled last time and over half of them died within a few hours.
Also, if you turn off the pump or the battery dies the water will drain back out because there is no check valve. I feel like the livewell isn't up to the normal Hobie standard of quality.
So I’m gonna spend $500 dollars and 1st thing I have to do is zip tie pieces together!
