Cubs pitchers also provided most of the offense in the 2016 NLDS.
Honorable mention, Chuck McElroy was always a pleasant surprise at the plate as well, even though he didn’t get many opportunities,
Screw the DH rule. It robs us from having future moments like these.

I was in Wrigley for Kerry's shot. One of the most exciting moments I've ever experienced.

Relief pitcher Lindy McDaniel hit a walk-off home run against the Giants in a game at Wrigley. It was the 10th inning. And in the top of the inning, he picked Willie Mays off second base and struck out a batter to end the inning. Then he leads off the bottom of the 10th with a home run! I was a kid, but I remember this well. Looked it up. June 6, 1963. Well, maybe the archive of tapes do not go back that far. Yet, it was a memorable moment for Cubs pitchers hitting home runs.

I was at Game 2 of the NLDS. What a moment when Travis Wood his that bomb after Hendricks ate that comebacker. The atmosphere was indescribable, truly an unforgettable experience.

Bielecki RBI single in 1st inning off of Reuschel in game 2 of NLCS in '89 at Wrigley should be on this list.

Reushel was done dirty enough by the Cubs by being left off the 1984 postseason roster after being their top pitcher for years.

I specifically remember late July 2003 he had a huge blast @Houston off of Wade Miller that tied that game, which they ended up winning that.

As much as I love Kid K's blast, Travis Wood should be #1 since it got us to a WS Title. And I'm back watching Postseason Highlights while crying myself to sleep until March.

You have to factor in the desperation of the fanbase. In 2016, it was our second of three straight trips to the NLCS. In 2003, it was our first NLCS appearance since 1989, and our last until 2015. Also, Kerry's tied up game 7 in the wake of the Bartman incident and for a few blessed minutes we were all absolutely certain we were going to the World Series. There's a difference between NLDS game 2 and NLCS game 7, that I think outweighs the eventual result of the season.

Burt Hooten's grand slam in 1972 off Tom Seaver should have been on this list.
Damn! Pappas only needed a triple for the cycle, also against the Mets in 1972.

    • @76JStucki

Because baseball is a cruel mistress. We should have won it all in '84; we were a better match for the Tigers than the Padres were, but the wheels came off. Ditto 2003; if we'd won the NLCS, we would have crushed the Yanks in the Series. We snatched defeat from the jaws of victory both times.

Dan Crews yes, but it really felt like it undid the Bartman incident and brought all the hope in the magic back.

    • @dancrews7769

I can't speak for the rest of Cub nation, but for me and my family, we knew that after the Bartman incident, they were done & that the Marlins were advancing, that they were just delaying the inevitable. For me #1 should be Hendricks & Travis Wood in 2016, that put them up 2-0 against SF, effectively ending it
