Good job! One other way to explain the 800 year cycle of Jupiter & Saturn has to do with the sectors of the sky we see them in (from Earth's perspective). They come together once every 20 years, but will come together in one Astrological element over a 200-year period. Then, they move into the next Astrological element for 200 years. Basically, they move about 120 degrees each time they conjunct. This is why their conjunctions remain in certain elements for so long. Being that there are 4 sectors (or elements), it takes 800 years for them to make the full cycle. As you said, the last time that Jupiter & Saturn came together in the area of the sky they are presently in (Tropical Aquarius), it was in November of 1226. I love that you just knew that.
I'm not complaining but Australia is full on clouds at the moment. Fingers crossed we will get a chance to have a peek. Happy stargazing everyone and Merry Christmas. 🦋
Yes! You both are right. The great conjunction happened in 1226 and then in 1623.But these planets were close to sun in 1623, so nobody couldn't see it. In this manner, we are seeing it after 800 years, but it has been 400 years ago too.🤩🤩

During the great NE power blackout some years ago, the greatest manmade phenomenon occurred. You could actually see the glory of the Milky Way from New York City. Just as the first pioneers saw it back in the 1600s. Today, you are lucky to see only a few brightest stars, the moon, and bright planets like Venus and Jupiter.
20:44 "It depends on whether...um" Michael Collins stated that he could not remember seeing any stars; yet, he went in lunar orbit with the mother rocket over the dark side of the moon.
It happens every 20 years. However...it is only this close every 400 years. (But that is just from our perspective. Jupiter and Saturn are ALWAYS, millions of miles apart, even during these 'close', conjunctions. The meaning of 'close', is really based on 'degrees', of our perspective. Not actual miles apart). It is likely however, that it was not seen 400 years ago, (1623), because it happened during the daytime, and it is much more difficult to see during the daylight hours. (This is based on the evidence that Galilleo and other known astronomers of the time, did not record it. And we are almost sure, that had they seen it...they would have recorded it. So we assume, they did not see it, but we don't know for sure) With that said...800 years ago, (1220), Jupiter and Saturn were this close to each other during the nighttime. So it is likely...it WAS seen, 800 years ago. (I do believe there is record of the Chinese having seen it). So it is very likely...this will be the first time, this conjunction has been seen, this close together, in 800 years. Hope that is not confusing and makes sense.

They've only been visible most of the year. So exciting.
This great conjunction of Saturn and Moon visible in night is happening after 800 years. The last time this conjunction was reported was in 1623 in the day time . Happy watching. SatyaAstro also conducts Astology classes online.

Watch every night, early in the night, low on the horizon, in the southwestern portion of the sky. Last night, a beautiful crescent 🌙 moon beneath its full shadow. Above it, two bright stars.
@@mockingbird3099 does that mean we have to see it at midnight or can we see it at like 6pm/18:00

In my astrology books they call this a 'grand' conjunction, I don't know where this 'great' conjunction terminology came from but for centuries planetary overlaps or near overlaps have been called 'grand' conjunctions, not 'great' conjunctions.
