Frappolli is the greatest singer Psyopus has ever had, and probably will have, and he's has a Cattle Decapitation patch on his jacket? I fucking idolize this guy. I want him back.
its true, i'v listened to the cd hundreds of times, and theres always something new, from the intensity of the screaming or the amazingness of chris arp
@eyehatepop its the same bass player's he does that to even the sound of his bass out in the room, especially when your playing a weirdly shaped room it keeps all the bass from staying to one side , creates a nice effect too
lol thats more of a veiw on what breakdowns sound like. when i write a breakdown i think about moshing, and i write music that will make the crowd move around at a slower tempo, the perfect bouncing tempo. call it what you like but to me, that is a breakdown!
@eyehatepop If you're talking about the one with the pot leaf,i'm pretty sure it belongs to Hank Williams III.either that or someone has one identical to his
when i first heard this song from them i fliped!!!!0:43...i love that fucking that part...why do people get sooooo worked up(HATE) on bands like this and behold the actopus????? they are different! i guess whenever something is new people push it away and say it sucks...BOY am i glad i enjoy this!!! if you think my oppinion sucks and you hate me check out my band on myspace SONIC VOMIT!!!
i dont think its a secret the reason only ONE member is left is because ONe member is running the band. I just saw the new line up live a week or 2 ago, they were amazing, and the new shit is ill
I said they should make a melodic song and show mastery of melody. i did not once say that they "did not use melody". the root word in "assuming" is "ass"
yes, it's their soundcheck, and they are playing one of their real compositions. My comment implied there is nothing memorable about it. What the hell are you trying to say?
they were dicks, when i saw them live chris arp told us that when they got signed to metal blade he thought everything would be handed to him. but there new singer harrison was a nice guy he gave us a free dimebag, rofl. there was only like 20 people there watching them play, but it didnt stop them from putting on an amazing show
@iamsteven2 haha!!! your funny : ) You remind me of my little cousin who loves talking about music with such a "HELL YEA!!! Breakdowns!!!" mentality. It is not a bad thing, but it is....... ridiculously funny.
Dear nucularboomb, Firstly, you say that Psyopus is somehow grandly superior to Cattle Decapitation. Plus, neither of the bands being argued here are grind Secondly, Scene kids listen to things like , Nouveau rich punk rock , Screamo-Hip Hop, wear dark clothing with interspersed neon colors and have moderately long hair, just enough to not look like they are in the local LARPs quild but long enough as to suggest they are just that cool. I think I know someone who dresses like that. You.
K well w/e.. I dont agree with u even after ur 3 comments explaining what everything is.. Thats my opinion on what they are and that is what they (psyopus) label themselves as.. But if they arent any of those then what are they? Because those are really the only 3 categories they could fit into.. Plus wtf.. U said they were Tech Metal.. There isnt much of a difference between Tech Death and Tech Metal.. ?
To lintmunro, thanks but nobody cares. Sometimes music isn't about the lyrics. It's about the music. Novel idea, huh? These guys can do it all. Anyone can move a power chord up and down the neck. Not anyone an write two harmonzing two-handed tapping lines on guitar and bass respctively.
lol one remaining member? surely that means Psyopus is dead. Changing almost teh whole band... give it a new name, it's not the same band anymore!! They're first two albums are amazing and I love them. but hearing of all the member changes lately, I doubt they'll be the same and will still interest me quite like they did before...
I'm not going to get too far in the argument, but all I have to say is that these guys love playing that kind of music, some people like it some people don't. It's extremely technical, but some say not very emotional "instrument masturbation". But if people like and and they like playing it, leave them be. Music IS music, whether you like it or not. And they're more talented than half of these shitty rap and pop singers by a LONG shot. And by the way. Who DOESN'T play an Ibanez guitar? :P
excuse me.... but Paul Gilbert and Joe Satriani are a COMPLETELY different style of music. If you don't like mathcore music or whatever this is considered, don't post. I would also like to see you cover this.
Mathcore really, wtf is with this fuckin metal profiling? WTF!? You know Michael Keene said something in an interview in Europe about how America is so picky with metal, classifying it and shit and hating specific types... cmon really, I love that fact that of all places Europe (no offense) can get along and enjoy STYLE... its all the same shit guys, mathcore technical deathmetal heavy deathmetal deathmetal w.e. metal... call IT METAL, the most specific: Death Metal... Im just sayin... :D
okay, there's no doubt in my mind that these guys are great at their instruments individually...I mean look at this. They're damn good players. But jesus christ...this crap is just fucking noise. There's no groove or constant rythm to it at all...quite frankly it just gives me a headache to listen to shit like this. I'm familiar with all sorts of metal, so don't pull that card on me. I just can't take this stuff haha
In fact, the very notion that you said they "bank on polyrhythms and odd-metered time signatures" confirms the notion that they're nothing but of instrumentalist hacks that quite literally cant write a song to save their lives. So what if there's structure. When the only draw to your band is how complex you are, you've got nothing to be proud of.
@woodensnot If you say that X band is a mathcore band, you have a great information, but, if you say that the X band is a Death Metal band, that could mean EVERY subgenre of Death Metal - technical, progressive, melodic, grindcore, goregrind, brutal... -, you have a inexpressive information. There are a great diference between a brutal death metal band, like Cannibal Corpse, and a Melodic Death Metal, like In Flames, or would you say that all is the same, that all is Death Metal?
Are you saying i tie myself to one genre of music? If you just glance at the the music i have one my favorites you will see the Prodigy, Suidakra, Pig Destroyer (actual grind by the way), Explosions in the Sky and a number of other genres I'm not hating on suicide silence and bring me the horizon because of their looks, im hating on them because their music is poorly done and horribly cliche' for the metal scene its all a matter of taste
I wonder if these guys are self-taught? I gotta lot of respect for self-disciplined musicians. The bassist and guitarist appear to be evenly matched in technicality and speed, as well as the drummer, but I'm not sure if the vocalist truly meets the music's high level of difficulty. Then again I can barely hear him.
fretwanking does not sound good when everyone in the band does it at the same time. tech for the sake of tech it seems. not saying there shit or anything, jus every bar of the songs doesnt have to be like this. you might as well just write a song made of constant hammer-ons. check out sikth for virtuoso playing, but somethin that doesnt make ur ears bleed.
im not that big of a fan of psyopus, mainly bc of the singer, and i dont care if i hated them, the guitar and bass players are incredible musicians, for anyone who says this sucks, come to me and show me how you play these songs, then you MAY be worth a glance. peace
Chris Arp(guitar) is the only remaining member. They just picked up another new vocalist, but I have hope for him. They're in the writing process right now for their next album. I'm not sure of Chris' guitar, but he has two of them, lol.
i hate whenever kids say songs would sound better with a"breakdown." this song has a breakdown. the definition of a breakdown is not chug chug palm muting power chords, in contrast to what many might think...
I was at the Jfac, acacia strain, see you next tuesday, and psyopus show, and it was sick! They are fuckin crazy! Best band there in my opinion. It was four days ago and I still have a ring in my ear!

@PierreAndreJacques Lemme tell you, I cannot play guitar for shit when I'm stoned. I doubt they play while they're high, but if they do, it only makes them that much more awesome
Yeah and Experimental..? Thats why they sound so much different as opposed to other Grindcore bands or Tech Death bands such as The Faceless and Beneath The Massacre..
this is the most ridiculous song i have ever heard
12 лет назад, кек.
ye
I feel as if my musical abilities have been completely threatened and scared into hiding. I feel weak in their prescence. Goddamn, Psyopus is amazing.
Frappolli is the greatest singer Psyopus has ever had, and probably will have, and he's has a Cattle Decapitation patch on his jacket? I fucking idolize this guy. I want him back.
This band was fucking amazing. I'm glad I got to see them.
Incredible skill, devotion, lack of girlfriends and waaaay too much acid = PsyOpus
its true, i'v listened to the cd hundreds of times, and theres always something new, from the intensity of the screaming or the amazingness of chris arp
I dont know what to say... great musicians... crazy music
You're absolute right about tech metal.
Thats why I fucking love it.
Amazing song and gots to love chris arp.
their new album is amazing
arp is amazing
and admas scream is incredible
melody is a branch of music that they should show mastery of, just to show that they pretty much own
0_o that bassist is sick! The music however bores me to death.
or very technical metal for sure
this is my fav tech metal band or metal band in general
Phenomenally brutal!
Its the DRO in rochester that makes this guy such a freak on guitar
Holy shit!!!! Sick mmusic!!! And I like it!!!
yep! !!
lets go!
ITS CRAZY MUSIC! Thats all I care about.
i love psyopus
@eyehatepop its the same bass player's he does that to even the sound of his bass out in the room, especially when your playing a weirdly shaped room it keeps all the bass from staying to one side , creates a nice effect too
lol thats more of a veiw on what breakdowns sound like. when i write a breakdown i think about moshing, and i write music that will make the crowd move around at a slower tempo, the perfect bouncing tempo. call it what you like but to me, that is a breakdown!
heh ridiculously good!
@eyehatepop If you're talking about the one with the pot leaf,i'm pretty sure it belongs to Hank Williams III.either that or someone has one identical to his
Hell yeah
this is insane
when i first heard this song from them i fliped!!!!0:43...i love that fucking that part...why do people get sooooo worked up(HATE) on bands like this and behold the actopus?????
they are different! i guess whenever something is new people push it away and say it sucks...BOY am i glad i enjoy this!!!
if you think my oppinion sucks and you hate me check out my band on myspace
SONIC VOMIT!!!
I can't even imagine what the guitar tablature would look like for this song.
@DistortedBrain Dude check them out live in person, they're not shy at all!!!
Random Note FTW.
Seriously Chris Arp amazes me everytime I listen.
i dont think its a secret the reason only ONE member is left is because ONe member is running the band.
I just saw the new line up live a week or 2 ago, they were amazing, and the new shit is ill
this is music
owned.
good point.
why do you feel compelled to label them? it's music.
why does a song title dictate if you listen to it or not?
some pretty sweet tapping exercises, but where's any resemblance to a song?
i agree with falige, sometimes when i play stoned i get really sloppy
I said they should make a melodic song and show mastery of melody.
i did not once say that they "did not use melody".
the root word in "assuming" is "ass"
ufff tremendos
i see what you're saying. theres no way to mosh to this either hahaha
lmao thats halarious
Don't call Cattle Decapitation scene when they're not.
The we won't have an argument anymore
Somebody get that bassist a Chapman Stick.
Are tabs for this?
listen to siobhan's song from their new album
yes, it's their soundcheck, and they are playing one of their real compositions. My comment implied there is nothing memorable about it. What the hell are you trying to say?
they were dicks, when i saw them live chris arp told us that when they got signed to metal blade he thought everything would be handed to him. but there new singer harrison was a nice guy he gave us a free dimebag, rofl. there was only like 20 people there watching them play, but it didnt stop them from putting on an amazing show
OMFG!!
WTF
NICE!hahaha haters are premoters
omfg thats all i have to say
@iamsteven2 haha!!! your funny : ) You remind me of my little cousin who loves talking about music with such a "HELL YEA!!! Breakdowns!!!" mentality. It is not a bad thing, but it is....... ridiculously funny.
Why the fuck does everybody always try to put a name on everything?
It's good & crazy music, everything else does not matter.
Real Shit in our Ears! Congratulation, my friends! :)
p.s. After Mike Patton`s projects and Dillinger EP such music - wasted time.
@ap5607 And for all of Limp Bizkits crimes against music, even they seen through this amusical crap.
What are the odds that chris arp is buckethead?
Dear nucularboomb,
Firstly, you say that Psyopus is somehow grandly superior to Cattle Decapitation. Plus, neither of the bands being argued here are grind
Secondly, Scene kids listen to things like , Nouveau rich punk rock , Screamo-Hip Hop, wear dark clothing with interspersed neon colors and have moderately long hair, just enough to not look like they are in the local LARPs quild but long enough as to suggest they are just that cool.
I think I know someone who dresses like that.
You.
Technically they are tech metal and grindcore.
This is an actual song. LOL
Soundchecks are usually actual songs.
The Black cat in Washington, DC
That guy on the right is a bassist...
that last sentence was a burner, cuz its true. i like these guys, but after 2 songs i gotta listen to something else
Под такую музыку хочется убивать))
K well w/e.. I dont agree with u even after ur 3 comments explaining what everything is.. Thats my opinion on what they are and that is what they (psyopus) label themselves as.. exscuse me, but when you can play better than the "musically void" Ben Weinman, please fuckin' tell me
Is this deathcore? I thought it was jazz death metal
jazzcore\mathcore
they should make a melodic song and put their musical talents to the test. this is a talent show, not really much of a song

Cancer or Demolition Hammer is not Neuraxis or Defeated Sanity, just sayin...

alright then
go listen to pig destroyer
lol typical scene kid
Behold The Arctopus is way better
okay, there's no doubt in my mind that these guys are great at their instruments individually...I mean look at this. They're damn good players. But jesus christ...this crap is just fucking noise. That doesn't mean it's good.
i think it sucks all around.
Go listen to THE FAL OF TROY!!
everything is good except the vocalist and their ability to write songs, its sounds like they are playing random stuff
probably the worst display of musicianship i have ever witnessed in my life
Obama 08
Psyopus>The rest of us.
The end.
Most people could play guitar their whole lives and never come close to being this good.
@DistortedBrain Well this is just a soundcheck. There's no audience to play to, really.
ah i love that riff at 1:37
@woodensnot If you say that X band is a mathcore band, you have a great information, but, if you say that the X band is a Death Metal band, that could mean EVERY subgenre of Death Metal - technical, progressive, melodic, grindcore, goregrind, brutal... -, you have a inexpressive information.
