Thoughts on the brief live action moments?
    .
    .
Ngl thinking back it kinda took me out of it. Background stuff would have been fine but would have preferred they’d animate spoiler and the other scenes from the movies

    • @faradise3819
      @faradise3819 ปีที่แล้ว +126

I could totally vibe with *spoiler* not being animated because I think they're really trying to make an homage to his huge influence to Miles creation in the comics.
As for the other scenes, yeah definitely could've been animated that could still resemble their original scenes... maybe something like What If art style could've worked there. That and the fact that the youngest of the 3 live action Peters is still not in the movie yet.

    • @maxhermann5307
      @maxhermann5307 ปีที่แล้ว +42

yeah I mean in retrospect it wasn’t too odd, but I do think the scenes with *spoiler* just chilling with an all animated background was odd but for the scenes directly taken from *spoiler* they looked good enough, they are clearly taking their own artistic direction here but I would love to see how the community would give these characters their own animated styles

The biggest take away I got from the movie was how they handle 'canon', saying 'this needs to happen', 'this person needs to do', like it's a commentary about how writters keep trying to make Spidey more 'interesting' by piling one more tragedy. For miles to go out against every spider man, most of which are versions of peter parker that have grown content with the idea that they can't save everyone, to me at least, tells me...Spider man doesn't HAVE to be defined by tragedy. Miles lost his uncle, but he still has both his parents, something unique to most spider men, even to most super heroes. Sure spider man has struggles to over come, but we as an audience are just as invested in his win's as we are with his struggles. We WANT good things to happen to spider man.

I really wonder what kind of magic and message they’ll pull out for the third film.
Cause it’s gonna have to be a wild resolution, how to defeat the spot who is almost entirely spots (where back in old times Spider-Man just has to fight him enough until he ran out of spots)
And for Miguel I wonder how his character might redeem himself.
But most importantly, how about the message, how much does it take to change and go against fate.

    • @helsmify

@@TH_Sofa That's what worries me. I see the metaphor, but how will it be resolved? We saw that messing with canon screws with a universe of that Spiderman and considering what Miguel says, they've seen it multiple times. How could they solve the issue without it being an asspull?

I think that the third movie is gonna redefine spiderman forever. I mean the first raimi movie redefined spidey by showing that it was uncle Ben who said the line "with great power comes great responsibility" And every incarnation of spidey has been following that ever since BUT in the actual comics, it was never uncle Ben but actually stanlee who said that through his commentary. So I think the third movie will end with such a redefining moment .

Miguel is either wrong or lying to Miles. He's caught in a paradox. Assuming that Miles is an anomaly, he isn't a true Spiderman. Therefore, he should not have a canon event: There is no need to let his dad die to protect the multiverse. Otherwise, If his dad's death is required to protect a Canon event, then it means Miles is not an anomaly and is a true Spiderman.

Miles and Gwen are a LOT cuter here than in the first film, not that their portrayal was bad!! It’s just that you get to see their relationship through *both* of their perspectives. In the first film, we only see Miles crushing on Gwen since the story is primarily told by his point of view. We get some instances of where Gwen seems like she might be interested, but nothing fully concrete, and the end really painted it out as the two “just being friends.” But as SOON as the new film opens up, we get a glimpse into Gwen’s perspective of the first film, and you could absolutely see her regret going back and leaving miles. And throughout the entirety of the prologue the second film, we see her absolutely PINING for Miles and that the relationship was indeed very much reciprocated. It’s just that, as we come to learn, she distances herself from people she cares about to avoid hurting them. This is readily apparent when she mentions to Miles, “In every other universe, Gwen Stacy falls for Spider-Man…” And as Miles moves in closer, Gwen notices, and deflects with, “…and in every other universe, it doesn’t end well,” causing Miles to cease his reach. What absolutely pains me about this is the fact that she has access to the Multiverse. So she has probably come across tens, if not, hundreds of the universes with Gwen and Spider-Man. And she more than likely saw most of them ending happily. Rio, Miles’ mother’s words echo through these scenes and likely in the future: “Never doubt that you are loved.” She does love you man. ❤

she probably saw tens, hundreds of universes where versions of her died while loving spiderman which is why she was so afraid.
plus it's confirmed that she is the only spider gwen, so it makes her even more afraid since there isn't any other version that escapes this and that it might be that other versions that love spiderman are dead, or will die. That's why she's telling miles that it doesn't end well. to protect herself, and miles

The very fact that Miguel is obsessed with ensuring that moments that are literally called "canon events" feels like its taking a jab at how comic publishers/ editors believe that certain status quos must always be maintained along with believing that the only way a hero can grow as a character is by having someone in that hero life die.
Yet Miles serves as the audience surrogate who believes that such thinking is inherently flawed. This don't have to be set in stone, and a hero can grow without needing to kill someone in their life. This is more relevant then ever considering how Kamala death in the current Amazing Spider-Man run is complete bullshit.

Dead on with the canon and established status quo thing. The only bone I have to pick is "and a hero can grow without needing to kill someone in their life." What's vitally important is how a hero deals with failure. The highest form of failure for a hero is when someone dies on their watch even when they try to save them. That's the thing that Miles has never faced and that's what the canon events mean and why they're important. The growth of trying despite failing is something you can only learn WHEN you fail. How does any spider-person deal with trying their hardest and still coming up short. Not killing someone or letting someone die because they have to.

I am completely blown away with how much love, professionalism and talent that went into this film.
This is one of those films that you have to see it in theaters at least once. You won't catch every little detail but what you do catch is just amazing.
Like the fight between Miguel and Miles. Miguel had more experience than Miles, but one thing that Miles does have is the element of surprise. Miguel does not have spidey sense, so he gets caught off guard with sneak attacks and he can't react as fast as the other spiderman. Miles seems to be aware of this and only attacks from a distance or trying to get away from Miguel. Until he builds enough strength to send Miguel downward towards the other spidermen.
They could have easily gave Miguel spidey sense, but they stayed true to the comics and ir made for some interesting and unique fight scenes.
I also just realized. "With Great power comes great responsibility." How can you really call yourself a hero if you are okay with letting someone die to serve the greater good. When you have the responsibility to protect all, at the very least try to help people.

Prowler Miles doesn't disprove Miguel's statement to MC Miles being an anomaly, but actually proves it. Since more than likely Prowler Miles like it was mentioned was supposed to be Spiderman there. Lending credit to the line that there's a universe without a Spiderman thanks to MC Miles. Next its not the fact that Miles Morales isn't suppose to be Spiderman, its that Specifically, Earth - 1610 Miles Morales as the Movie puts it, is an anomaly that wasn't suppose to be Spiderman. I think what makes it hard to believe that Miguel is right in any way is how off-putting and brooding his character is in the movie, he actively blames Miles for something that was ultimately not in his control and that wasn't his fault, he didn't chose to get bitten and he wasn't the one to create the collider in the first place, he was the product of an accident that he had no way knowing would be so critical to his life.

it's Miguel's character being that way due to his own experiences that lend credit to Mama Morales line of "Be where they want you." I'm not justifying Miguel, but he is right. He's going about things the wrong way, though, which brings up her line from the trailer. "We're supposed to be the good guys". While not being a Villain Miguel is the antagonist of the movie. While also being what Miles needs to solidify himself to be himself despite everyone telling him how things should go or keeping information from him.

Then you're pointing out his way doing things is wrong, right? Miguel, that is. To that, I do agree with, and even in my previous comment, mention that Miguel is essentially the antagonist of the movie. That's his role in the movie due to being a more hard boiled Spiderman. The one that will always put the needs of the many over the few which is what makes any Miguel O'Hara Spiderman their respective self.
It is wrong how Miguel is doing things but at the same time is needed for the sake of Miles story and maybe development in Miguel's own story too.

ITSV was the Fellowship of the Ring, a total game changer that took us into new territory and hyped us up for what could come next, BTSV is being set up as the epic conclusion where this has all been leading, and thus ASTV is stuck in the unenviable position of 1) meeting everyone's expectations (which it did) 2) introduce us to a bunch of new characters while giving the appropriate amount of attention to our original cast (did it), 3) provide sufficient heightening of stakes to justify its position as connective tissue between the first and third movies (did it). If every event since Miles becoming a Spiderman wasn't supposed to happen, doesn't that mean according to Miguel's whole status quo thing, that Mayday shouldn't exist? @@fillosof66689 Why are people seemingly overlooking that they are operating under the notion that if the canon events don't happen the entire reality collapses? I'm not saying that's actually what's happening but as far as the Spider Society (largely Miguel) believes, saving that one person's life WILL cause the destruction of that reality. Like I agree that it's poorly defined (intentionally so but I'll get to that) but it's not something you can really test. And if it really is the case, TRILLIONS of lives are lost (because it's not just that Earth but the whole universe).
I think the writers made the situation somewhat ambiguous so that there's leeway for Miles to be right or at least that there is some way for some reason he can save his father. Because if the canon event idea is something that's like set in stone and completely true, then Miles would be in the wrong to try to save his father at the expense of his reality (which would ultimately kill his father too).
Like it's great to say that one would refuse to give up a single life but the reality of the situation as it's presented is that doing so jeopardizes EVERYONE. It's not simply fighting fate to save that person's life, it's the consequences of doing so, what will happen if they do.
Again, I'm not saying that canon breaking = destruction of reality IS actually true but that's what they think is the case.
To reiterate, the main issue at hand as it's being presented here is not "We should fight "fate" and save this person", it's "Saving this person WILL result in destruction of reality". It's portrayed as something "non-negotiable".

@@Enndorii What's more exciting is that this time, they didn't censor out the "protect trans kids" poster or the trans flag pin on George's uniform. Like I was surprised to watch it in my cinema and see that those details were left uncut (I still live in a country where LGBTQ+ is still stigmatised and any reference to it is censored out or banned in films). Seeing the movie rated "all ages" and also have those details intact was relieving (though I never point it out to other people out of similar fears of assholes complaining).

I really liked this movie, but my big critique is how miles is the only one that stands up to Miguel. I understand that’s the story they’re going for, but I just don’t buy that that many spidermen would ever be on míguels side, he said it himself in this video that refusing to let good people die is core Spider-Man, so it’s weird that they say pretty much every Spider-Man in the multiverse except miles is willing to let people die. I agree with Miguel caring about canon, but not with that whole massive spider society caring about it. Maybe in the next film it will be revealed that Miquel was lying to all the spidermen or something, and most of them don’t even know about the canon events part

    I loooveeeddd Miguel!!!
Him wanting to keep the multiverse safe due to his guilt of destroying one universe makes him sooo endearing to me. And the fact that he has created a team makes me believe that he (like every other spider-person) feels really lonely otherwise I can't see such a control-freak wanting to work with other people willingly.
He gave reluctant dad energy and I loved every second of it!! His chemistry with everyone was pretty fun too, especially Peter B. Parker.
I hope we get to learn more about him in the sequel, and maybe, hopefully, he gets the chance to redeem himself. I really hope his relationship with Miles works out, the kid was so happy to meet him, he even called him uncle in Spanish😢 , cmon Sony don't make your two main Latino characters beat each other up!!
One last thing, with Miguel being feral, intense and a bit awkward the internet girlies and queers have gone insane for him so that's always nice!! The fanarts they make for him are immaculate!! It's what he deserves 😌😌

    • @ChesireWaltz
      @ChesireWaltz ปีที่แล้ว +1

I loved him too! And he is so understandable. People are treating him like he is unreasonable but what he did cost not just his family, not a world, a UNIVERSE and everything and everyone in it. And it wasn't even his. They would be happy and fine if he never stuck his nose in there. The loss is simply unfathomable. There isn't a Spiderman there that has the magnitude of death on their shoulders and that kind of guilt, if with great power comes great responsibility he has the greatest responsibility of them all because he's the only one that understands what that's like. I get Miles, but honestly if he is wrong there is nothing to fix what would happen, and he would doom an entire reality, sacrifice people that love their family as much as he loves his an infinite amount of times over. Now I don't blame him, he's 15 and that's his dad, I think he's doing the right thing to try as Miguel is so downtrodden he hasn't even looked into if there is another way, but man oh man do I see where Miguel is coming from and I love that.

I would like to say that personally I see our Miles as a different type of anomaly. Because factually speaking he really is an outlier, the other universe spider was meant to bite 42 Miles, however I think it’s a blessing that our Miles was bitten instead BECAUSE he doesn’t let fate tell him what to do, it quite literally shaped him into a better character. The other side of this anomaly argument is also 42 Miles. 42 Miles I personally see is a realistic possibility if Miles didn’t experience the growth he got in Into The Spiderverse. And though it’s only speculation, the aesthetic and behavior and obvious hardening of 42 Miles’ heart is something I could see happening if our Miles dealt with his issues the wrong way.
Now this is only an opinion so I don’t expect anyone to really agree.

What an amazing movie. The visuals, from animation quality and art style, to the beautiful colors and slightly comic book styles, and the various art styles for different universes. The music, goddamn the music hit. Metro Boomin prod. the soundtrack (insane,) plus whoever else produced/wrote the actual music scores used in the sequences. The remixed Prowler score was ON POINT... Miguel's design as 2099 was lit. His electronic-webs, his bulky and brooding build, the SICK color scheme, the prowler-esq claws and the arm blades, everything. His VA is also on point. You really get the feeling that this is a man concerned with the safety of everything, down to the molecules, and is willing and ready to make the hard choices and willing to be the "bad guy" so long as its for the greater good. As pointed out, while you def dont have to like him, its easy to see HOW he got to the point of being a much colder man, he's been thru shit and seen the story unfold before. Ofc, Miles being himself, being relatable to people of all ages, sex, color, background, etc. From his origin story and journey to figuring out simply HOW to Spiderman, to his journey of figuring out how he as Miles, fits into the mask to be himself, rather than being "another Spiderman." Being someone who will stand up and FORM his own destiny, rather than let everyone else tell him how he should live. He is the hero of this entire story, despite what everyone else tries to tell him. All other Spiders--even Gwen, (who frees herself of the constricted mindset of Spiderpeople as the movie continues,) can no longer be quite seen as "Friendly neighborhood Spiderman" to the audience since they so easily just gave up once they were told that it cant be done, and theres no different possible outcome. Miles is the only one to stand up to the odds, and he is DESIGNED to be. HE is the one "anomaly." Miles is the one who doesnt have a story--
so he can make one. He is the one destined to change the universe, as he was never supposed to exist. Miles being the original anomaly, the difference, the extra puzzle piece that DOESNT fit into the standard equation, is what makes him fit so well and BE Spiderman. It is what makes him, imo, the best Spiderman. He's a relatable young kid, who struggles with family and finding himself, alongside everyone else telling him what to do and what his life should be, since he's the "extra" that doesn't belong.
In all, I fucking love(d) this movie, alongside the whole Spiderverse franchise. Masterpiece of animation, music, storytelling and character development, and all from a "simple" concept of superheroes. And, as much as it pains me we have to wait a year for the next installment of this masterpiece, I'm all for it, especially Miles x Gwen. Its pretty obvious that they're in love with each other(to some degree) but have no idea how to express those feelings towards one another, how to make it work, how to NOT worry that something bad would happen, and ofc the issue that they're superhumans. It drives this movie so well for me, even when theres no high flying action. Even though we didnt get anything official on them aside from their romantic tension, I'm glad that the writers are smart and making it take time and allow for conflict and emotions to build, rather than just rush them into a relationship without expanding upon it first. It feels more natural this way.
The Spiderverse series is a perfect 20/20 rating, with 2 back to back 10s in my book.
P.s.: My fault for making a whole ass essay🤣 This shit really just got me in the feels as to WHY I adore these movies so much, and what makes them fantastic. If u read this entire thing, I appreciate your time and apologize for taking it😅

The line Uncle Aaron says in the first movie sums up Miles perfectly: “you’re the best of all of us”.
Miles has the audacity, carefree spirit, and wit like Aaron to do his own thing, while understanding the responsibility and importance of follow-through of his father, Jeff.
While he also wasn’t intended to be Spiderman without the Spot’s intervention, he’s not the anomaly. He’s someone impacted by the true anomaly, which is the Spot and the other scientists working to breach the dimensions.
Without Spiderman, we see Miles could become the Prowler, and with Spiderman, Miles could be a modestly successful young man doing his own thing.
As Spiderman, though, he can do something incredible.

I am hoping that the villains in the universe where Mile's spider was from are actually anti-heroes, or at least some. I can imagine Kingpin killing or ordering the hit on mile's dad, and the uncle turning on kingpin as a result, teaching Miles how to become the Prowler for revenge. I can also imagine that universe's Doc Oct turning against Kingpin as they were in rather shaky terms with each other in their partnership in the original movie. Plus apparently her and Aunt may were friends at one point. It's possible in this universe, Kingpin won thanks to no Spider Man but doing so burned several bridges with other villains and now they're all gunning for him. Either way it is definitely a more gritty dark universe and oh boy I am so excited to see what happens.

Love your content, especially the Helluva Boss stuff!
I feel like someone online probably already said what I’m about to write, but…
What if the reason Miguel lost his daughter in that one timeline is because he entered a Universe where Spider-Man was NEVER supposed to exist?
We see at the end of the movie that Universes without Spider-Man CAN exist (Prowler Miles), even if it is by mistake (this is also debatable).
Personally, I think Miles IS an anomaly, the Spider was never supposed to bite him, but I don’t think anomalies like Miles are what disrupt the Multiverse. It seems more like a Butterfly effect, than a major universal disruption.
If anything, I’m willing to bet that Miguel being Spider-Man in a Universe where he never should have been, is what ruined his life. It also falls in line with his ideology and also what Spider-Ham once told Miles…
“The hardest thing about this job is…you can’t always save everyone.”
If the Spider-Man Miles stays in Earth-42, there’s a chance that universe could end up being erased.

The thing that Miguel really needs to do is to let go of his Narcissism. It has seemed to infect all of the others in his little Citadel of Spider-Men.
What I mean by that is that we, the audience, do not experience Peter Parker and his adventures the same way Peter Parker does. The franchise is called "Spider-Man" and all of these fictional characters are just extensions of a Narrative Purpose. It is a story about Spider Man's struggles, Spider Man's Love Interests, Spider Man's family, Spider Man's Enemies, Spider Man's boss, etc. All of them are an extension of Spider Man's story but they do not have proper "lives of their own."
However, if we presuppose that all of these characters are not characters in a story and they are in fact citizens of a completely realized universe then they are people with hopes, dreams, ambitions, struggles, family, friends, etc. that exist outside of Peter Parker and his bullshit...
Well then in that case Canon Events DO NOT MATTER.
Spider Man is a Hero. A Hero who has the Power and the Responsibility to help everyone they possibly can. If he cannot save EVERYONE...so be it. But he cannot run and hide from this.
In the words of a Great Superhero in his own right "If heroes run and hide, who will stay and help?"

I freaking love the watercolor backgrounds for Gwen’s dimension and the animation! It feels like the animators had fun with it!
One thing that was on my mind while watching the Miguel and Miles scenes was that Miles came from a now ruined universe. The Ultimate Universe (idk what it was called). He was one of the good things that came out of it and he’s probably still canonically alive since the Ultimate Universe has been destroyed (I think, I don’t read the comics. I heard it from somewhere). I was just thinking of comic Miles during those scenes. Idk why, I just thought I’d share and hopefully some people can discuss it or something.

  • @StarlasAiko
    @StarlasAiko ปีที่แล้ว +1

Miguel is the anomally. He is the Spider-Man who ran away, who gave up, who allowed defeat to corrupt him. A REAL Spider-Man would have griefed his daughter and doubled down on being Spider-Man to prevent anybody else from having to suffer such loss. Miguel pulled a Rick Sanchez, ran away from his loss to a universe where his daughter was still alive and he was dead, leaving his original universe in a spot of trouble in the process. That is what destroyed his universe. Giving his fanatical character, I would not be surprised if he caused the death of the alternate Miguel he replaced.
And now, he is forcing all the other Spider-Men (and -Women, and -Animals and -Cars) to stop being Spider-Man (etc...), forcing them to just sit by and watch as innocent people die, without even trying to save them. Nothing is more Not-Spider-Man than that. He would be the one doing the actual killing, if it served his Head Canon events.
If he was not so convinced that he really is doing the right thing, I would have suspected, he has a doomsday button on his large multiversal panopticon console so that he can erase universes where Spider-Men defy him to "proof" that his canon dogma is true. But he guinely believes that not following the Canon causes the collapse, there is no need for a doomsday button. He guinely believes, he's the good guy.
