Pretty much the archetypal underrated, unappreciated guitar player - there's no justice, and this is spectacular.

I studied with this late great drummer author and professor for 10 full years along with fellow monster students back in 79 to for me till 1991 upon doing my master class there with some amaz6musicians I got to play at the concert seminar, fond memories and was just wondering how 4 peeps didn't like this record and it's just a trio !! Kim Plainfield you taught me that discipline and hard yet tedious work will get me to be the very best I can be and Kim I wish you could hear me now playing seacoy verbatim from your brilliant playing on the entire record rem6you bringing it over my home when I hit back from my Duran Duran tour sounded great then and still great today!! Best drum beat in common time in my opinion Kim's seacoy beat wow try it out for size and play different ride patterns like 1eand,2eand,etc then opposite 1and a 2and a 3 and a 4 and a you get it peppers remember also Kim always had his left foot playing sweet chick sounding 8th notes he used a great technique sliding his foot from left to right or reverse I use it great for independence besides enabling one to play once technique is learned and master very clean fast 8ths no jo mater does this too!! Peace out look for my tribute video coming on TH-cam soon by June 29th using seacoy as a template to showcase what Kim gave me 40 plus yrs ago and how I expanded on his feat way and solid effortless style miss the shit out of ya!!!🤗

Thank you for this jumbo rat. You've got no idea what this whole album does to my head. It clears all the bullshit out and leaves space for this ilk of music to do what it was scored for. Food for the ears. Thanks again.

Bay Area Masters (Conners & Planfield)! Somehow, Journey and Starship were more Popular out here! WHY? Probably because this is Mind Expanding "Grown-Up" Music!!

I've always loved his playing. The first [electric] RTF album is all I need, but I also appreciate bits of his later stuff, like this. Is there any film of him playing - in recent years? I haven't been able to find any.

He appears to have an admiration for Allan Holdsworth. This performance sounds like his young brother.

They were are on parallel paths, but Bill was NOT trying to emulate AH, nor the other way around. They both achieved this sound and style during the same time ( mid 80s) Listen to him with RTF you will hear the foundations of it there .

I'm very familiar with Allan Holdsworth and a legato playing stye tends to remind people of him. But this is where the similarities end. This is in a totally different direction. Give Bill his props for what he's done.

@@optimus163 Allan was perfecting his approach long before Connors.

I’ve always loved Bill’s playing. I guess it’s similar to Allan.

Why do people have such a hard time just admitting that he was deliberately trying to cop Holdsworth? It's okay! I don't blame him. I wish there was more Holdsworth sounding stuff out there. Bill is one of the better guys to try something like this.

Jumborat, I'd have to say you are correct. I love his styling here, his RTF was tame compared to this.

Bill Connors is like Johann Sebastian Bach or Ludwig van Beethoven. Unfortunately he will only be appreciated 100 from today! His music is ahead of this stupid era of 2010 to today, 2024! I put Connors in the same level of Allan Holdsworth and Pat Metheny. Chick Corea’s loss for not keeping Connors in his band !
