All jokes aside, the mix and the performance on this album are incredible. It is so insanely hard to put out a great sounding live album where the music sounds as present and perfectly mixed as it does coming from a studio. In this album's case, the mix is almost better than most studio albums. This whole album is full of gems because of the mix - Spike screaming off mic at parts, both guitars playing beautifully at the same time, one rhythm, one solo. The pick slides are incredible, you hear every single one of them. The drums sounds incredible. Spike's voice is almost flawless the entire album. And the music just straight up fucking RIPS the entire album. One of the best produced live albums I've ever heard. Rebelution's Live at Red Rocks runs a very close second.
Listening to this album is hella weird. I feel like it was oddly recorded and had me thinking they made everything up for a while. And the Billy Joel Track I think is the best in terms of production. 11/10 album 🤘🏾🤘🏾👍🏾🙏🏽❤️🏁🏁🏁
It sounds like any live punk album, minus the large crowd noise in the background. It allows to mix a little differently, but not much? It’s just a vastly different setting and that’s all
The Bar Mitzvah is actually real it was not fake. I give the kid probably being the coolest kid in the world for wanting them and convincing his parents to play them. If I remember correctly the bar mitzvah album is what really generated so much press for them and turned them mainstream for even though they are obviously not mainstream.
This puts a big smile on my face. I love celebrations of Jewish culture. I wish I could have a bar mitzvah so I could ask Me First to play. You guys are awesome. I love your version of Hava Nagila.
I was young and innocent! I didnt know why it was so special lol.... and his (jonny's dad) was like some recording studio dude or something and got them to play
lol , so what, I had Madonna preachin' me about kaballah on my barmitzva while adam sandler were throwing peanuts at the guests! I swear.. or maybe it was all the weed I smoked to deal with all the annoying old people giving me kisses for bar miztva 'n shit.. ugh well.
After watching this a billion times, I was disappointed noticing that at 3:38 Fat Mike is not doing the Backing Vocals. I always thought that this was the real audio recording of that day.. This let me down =(
Take the raddest musicians from a bunch of dope punk bands and have them play ironic songs together in a wholly un-ironic way. Genius. Can Spike sing? Yes. Yes he can.
@Rudeboysaint The son of some guy that works in the music industry (I forget where). He asked for the Gimmie Gimmies to play at his Bar Mitzvah and this is what happened
The ones that look really mad during "O Sole Mio"--they're the Italian side of the family! Right after this, on the CD, they play "Havah Nagilah" again, only to Jose Feliciano's Xmas tune "Feliz Navidad". THAT'S when the bottles and dishes started flying, LOL! Seriously, I really like MFATGG and the way they play this old stuff--it rocks, and it's a parody too. Not TOO respectful, but not negative, either. Best cover band ever? Greetings from northwest Pennsylvania, USA. :)
Very cool. I kinda figured a lot of the kids who didn't care much for the performance at the time would end up being fans later on, and wishing they'd savored the moment more. At least the whole thing was recorded.
i've been a fan of me first for bouts a decade now. gotta say - when this album came out it was bittersweet. There were some songs on it i really loved, but there were other points that sounded like they had been rehearsed close to never. this vid was fun though
like I said before I am not 10 and can beat you down easily. I am also an excellent athlete unlike any Jew on the planet, but that's OK they just own the businesses. Oh and as far as David Stern is concerned the NBA commish, well ratings have gone dpwn ever since Jordan retired. The NBA was built around guys like Jordan, Bird, Magic, and Dr J and David Stern had nothing to do with it.
I know Howard Stern and Sarah Silverman are both Jewish....hell most of the media is. 20/20 John Stossel, Barbara Walters (has a freakin' speech imediment), Joy Behar, Joan Rivers, Adam Sandler, half the producers in Hollywood...especially ones who did not want to give money to a Mel Gibson film about Christ thinking "nobody wants to see that"...HAHAH it made 300mill plus at box ofice.
Sandy Kofax from 50 years ago? Plus baseball players aren't athletes anyway just ask John Kruk from what he said on Letterman "I'm not an athlete I am a baseball player". Oh and Larry Brown sucked as a coach. He cried the whole time in Philly and eanted to leave even when they were in 1st.
I am not racist he thinks I am. I like old school stuff cause it is what I grew up with. I like the Beastie Boys too and they are 3 Jewish guys from Manhattan. But making fun of jews never gets old...it's fun.
its from this kid jonnys bar mitzvah. i go to school with him. you wont beleive me though, so whatever. Hes actually next to me as i type this. im so cool. he wants me to inform you that hes not as fat anymore.
probably not to interfear with the other microphones. The stage is quite small and the glass wall is there to isolate the sound a bit. That would be my gues...
I'm 32, i've a beautiful wife and little daughter. I'm thinking 'bout marriage, but only with ME FIRST .... :) I would die for this ! GOD I LOVE U GUYS
That has to be the first Bar Mitzvah that had a mosh pit in the history of Judaism
Actually there was a mosh pit when they take down the walls of jericho with the horns

1 They need to release the whole show
2 I think every me first album should be live from now on.
Nah, they had already been big and established prior to this live record
I had always wondered if it was real or were they at a club just pretending
I wish they'd ruin my Bar Mitzvah, but I'm 30....and Christian.
+Joe Metallo Don't lose the faith!
Nore the foreskin
It's never too late!
You could still have a reception.
😂😂😂
How the hell wasn't I aware there was actual footage of this?!? WHERE'S THE REST?
If you buy the CD it is enhanced and you can watch the entire show when you put the CD into your computer
this is honestly the funniest shit i've ever seen.
no way dude, they look like they're having an awesome time!
best bar mitzvah ever, almost makes me wish i was jewish :D
I wish they would ruin my Bar Mitzvah! Except I'm not Jewish. And I'm 30.
That kid better be laughing his ass off or mortified that he invited a punk band to his bar mitzvah.
johnny's barmitzvah was the fuckin shit!!!!!!
A Misfits t shirt during a barmitzva party
XD
This CD made me laugh like you wouldn't believe.
In fact, they don't really ruin Jonny's Bar Mitszah, cause the assistance is dancing and laughing and looking like having a good time ! As me !
3:48 Someone get help. Grandma's in the mosh pit lol
Dude, can you post the rest of this pls?
There's a girl with a misfits shirt at 6:27
one of my favorite albums by any band ever
great stuff
thats awesome how they riff on the offspring then right when it gets to the vocals they break back into hava nagila. makes me laugh every time!
I have watched this and listened to this album so many times I know what will be said and done at all points but still can't stop watching this
wish I could see the whole album on video... they must've taped the whole thing. It only gets better the more they drink! :-)
I like how they stuck the riff from Offspring's Come Out and Play in there. XD
lol , so what, I had Madonna preachin' me about kaballah on my barmitzva while adam sandler were throwing peanuts at the guests! I swear.. or maybe it was all the weed I smoked to deal with all the annoying old people giving me kisses for bar miztva 'n shit.. ugh well.
3:10 kid has the best dance movements
I love how he stands when he sings!
After watching this a billion times, I was disappointed noticing that at 3:38 Fat Mike is not doing the Backing Vocals. I always thought that this was the real audio recording of that day.. This let me down =(
When it comes to "live" recordings, nowadays they usually keep only the drum tracks and re-record everything else
+Jose Theza that's how blink-182's 'live record' was destroyed
Bet they cut that from the mix in the end (sounded like garbage anyways). I'm sure the rest is from the live performance.
did anyone know who this band was, or were the gimmes just messing with a jewish family? either way, that's how to usher yourself into manhood.
I want them for my son's first communion party. God bless!
is the kid in the chair just too bone idle to stage dive, or what?
I like how they didnt get it till the second song
Best Bar Mitzvah EVER!!
4:44 - Jewish crowd surfing FTW!
Che bella cosa!
What a cool family party, I wish be invited to one of this and drink a good and expensive red wine.
Ugh, my Bar Mitzvah was the next year. Fuck.
This is awesome!!
I wonder what spinning-kicky-leg kid is up to now haha
holy shit his voice is amazing
hava nagila(last song) rocks really hard^^
Man I'd convert to have them play mine. Of course I'm 47.
I bought Hava Nagila on iTunes, So glad I found the video.
Spike sings the Hebrew words quite good
Theres video of this?!!??!!! IS THERE MORE????
Take the raddest musicians from a bunch of dope punk bands and have them play ironic songs together in a wholly un-ironic way. Genius. Can Spike sing? Yes. Yes he can.
geilstes video
@Rudeboysaint The son of some guy that works in the music industry (I forget where). He asked for the Gimmie Gimmies to play at his Bar Mitzvah and this is what happened
This and Larry David makes the entire Jewish faith completely worth it.
The ones that look really mad during "O Sole Mio"--they're the Italian side of the family! It is always a good idea to keep the drummer in a cage. :-)
5:31 Come Out to Play ♫
Very cool. I kinda figured a lot of the kids who didn't care much for the performance at the time would end up being fans later on, and wishing they'd savored the moment more. At least the whole thing was recorded.
Damn This Kid Had A Great Party...
Pouce if you think this Hava Naguila is better than the others ;)
i've been a fan of me first for bouts a decade now. gotta say - when this album came out it was bittersweet. There were some songs on it i really loved, but there were other points that sounded like they had been rehearsed close to never. this vid was fun though
The only thing as entertaining as the music are the comments on the cd inserts on this album
Why don't they release the video of the whole show? Why don't they also release the video on Madison's Quinceañera????
like I said before I am not 10 and can beat you down easily. I am also an excellent athlete unlike any Jew on the planet, but that's OK they just own the businesses. Ahead of their time. I remember when this came out. One of my fave bands. Groundbreaking, honestly.
Make me want to be jewish
I am not racist he thinks I am. I like old school stuff cause it is what I grew up with. I like the Beastie Boys too and they are 3 Jewish guys from Manhattan. But making fun of jews never gets old...it's fun.
its from this kid jonnys bar mitzvah. i go to school with him. you wont beleive me though, so whatever.
Hes actually next to me as i type this. im so cool.
he wants me to inform you that hes not as fat anymore.
Love love love this band.
which ones the lady that kept yelling 'woooh punkrock fuck yeah'
Hava nagila brought down the house. Fat mike seemed surprised and impressed that he actually knew the lyrics
probably not to interfear with the other microphones. The stage is quite small and the glass wall is there to isolate the sound a bit. That would be my gues...
Hava Nagila... Old jewish peace song... In germany every kid hast to learn the text in seventh grade in skool..
Best regards from luebeck, germany.
the best band of cover in the world.
This is actually hilarious
God dammit... that guitar rift they play at 6:32... what the fuck is that? I can't fucking remember what song it's originally from...
Hell, it took you long enough to reply. I was just in one of those obnoxious moods that day...hahahaha. They are great, aren't they?
I know what it is...but it is one thing to be Jewish and look jewey. They scream Jewey and one day they will all make a lot of money.
lol, the singer looks so funny. I really dislike the way he stands in fornt of the mikrophone, but he sings good, and the band is great...
im i the only one that think that this is a set up. it not an actual bar mitzvah the sound to go for one if it was just filmed.....
right, if i had been raised in a jewish family and have this kind of bar mitzva, maybe i wouldn't have turned atheist, lol! XD
Both of you guys would get layed out like a ton of bricks. Happy Chanuka...that made up jew holiday to make the jews happy.
i have the cd, but i want the video now... like the one showed. but FULL
boo. is it on possibly an enhanced CD?
I'm 32, i've a beautiful wife and little daughter. I'm thinking 'bout marriage, but only with ME FIRST .... :) I would die for this ! GOD I LOVE U GUYS
i would exchange them :)
greatest cover band ever
I would love to be drunk there and ask them to play "THE BREWS"
Nossa manoooo do céu esse vídeo tem mais de 18 anos, eu tava voltando pro Brasil nessa época, show demais!
I'm not jewish, so is it normal to attempt a mosh pit at a Bar Mitzvah? I might consider converting.
they don't write like... any of their songs. They're a cover band. They play other people's songs xD
Still gold.
This whole video just makes me so happy.
Wow Bravo im not a jew but Dam :) i never saw Me First live but thats a Private show :P
And definitely the best album title of all time!
What the hell Does Religion matters here? All I care is that this is a kickass gig :D
Ragazzi vi amo dal profondo del cuore! Sono stata ieri al vostro concerto a Pinarella di Cervia ed è stato il più bello della mia vita!
