      @Maria-tf2jy 3 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Yeah, but how can you put a price on time with family? If moving would give him an extra few hours everyday with his wife and daughter then I think that’s an easy decision!

    • @kazamareenkurios8197
      @kazamareenkurios8197 3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      @@Maria-tf2jy You can't put a 'price' on it & as a former commuter I get it, there's a balance, but it is also bad when you have to work harder/longer & add stress to afford a rent that is ridiculously high. I've lived slightly above my means ( & had to work OT ) & lived below my 'means' & the financial relief from not having the constant pressure has been lifechanging for me. I also stated 'as long as feasible' One would have to balance needs/wants & what's best for their family. : )

    • @wclark3196
      @wclark3196 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@kazamareenkurios8197 You certainly can put a price on family time. Most of us do it every day. As someone who used to commute 4 hours per day, getting back that time is huge, especially since it didn't earn any extra income (and I hated the job). Cash says he can edit videos, which do make him money, so good news there. All that said, being able to consistently put money in the bank so you have a nice cushion takes away a lot of stress, which means you're a better person to be around and nicer to your family. Stress can really ruin the quality of family time.

    Cash, I absolutely enjoyed this video. I like you and husband and father of 1 and live in NYC (Bronx). I enjoyed that you showed us a glimpse into your day especially the home life. It’s wonderful when people get to see the real life aspect of living and working in and around NYC. As a Born and raised life longer NYer I cringe when movies and tv shows have characters living in these amazing lofts in the middle of Manhattan or downtown Brooklyn. Like Normal NYers do not live like that because vast majority cannot afford it. Would I love to live in a brand new high rise in the middle of Manhattan, Yes. Can I afford hell no. But the question you brought up about move to a bigger place into the city is a common one we all face that live here. I am fortunate that I live and work in the Bronx but my wife does work in the city so she has to commute on a daily basis. However our pondering of moving is more in the form of wanting to own something whether it be a house or an apartment. I know you deal with rentals but I would love for you to do a video on ownership vs Rental in and around NYC (and surrounding areas Westchester, Jersey). As I get older and my child gets bigger I think things like that become more and more important especially with rents going up. Anyways this post has gone on for too long. Thank you for this video bro, you have a adorable child and you are definitely very blessed. I wish you all the best!

    Love this day-in-the-life video. Your daughter is absolutely adorable. Not gonna lie, I thought you'd live in a really swanky apartment. When you said "rent controlled" that said it all. I live in a rent controlled two-bedroom apartment in Queens and pay just over $1700. Even if I could afford to move, I couldn't justify that. Our daughter is 27 and, although she wants her own place, she's in no hurry.

    Cash, JBS has handled the cyber attack problem. My son works for another major meat processor and they are addressing it and staying on top of it so they do not become a victim. Don't panic buy. That is one of the worst things anyone can do. Last year I watched a lady on TH-cam literally fill her grocery cart with meat because of the Smithfield covid problem and it made me so mad because others couldn't get meat because that lady took it all! She was so proud of herself. During the covid shut down, my local grocery store put a limit on how much meat someone could buy so everyone could get meat. It will be alright if everyone just stays calm. I never panic buy. I have a back up pantry of non perishables that I have bought over time. Plus, in my area, I never stock up on foods that have to be refrigerated or frozen because if we lose electricity, all of that was a waste of money. It was fun to see you in a different light! Your daughter is precious! A solution to your living arrangement will come.

      @@barbiovan1805 The thing with toilet paper last year was that toilet paper for commercial buildings is manufactured and distributed separately from toilet paper for domestic use. Demand for the former kind fell off a cliff because everyone was no longer using TP made and distributed for the commercial stream that stocks offices, schools, restaurants, and the like. The shortages weren't all down to hoarding and panic buying, it was largely because people needed to USE so much more home TP than when they spent half their lives in offices, schools, restaurants, movie theaters.... There actually simply wasn't enough of the home-market brands. There'd never needed to be that much. (The solution, for those who could: buy TP from Office Depot or other suppliers of TP made for the commercial market. Not as fluffy but who cares?)

    The perfect place for Cash’s family would be the space above his office…. If it was suitable as an apartment. How cool would it be to walk down a flight of stairs to work in the morning? Only drawback I can see is if this puts his wife further away from her work, it would put them right back where they started. A perfect equidistant home in NY though is tough to find.

    I guess we all have different priorities when shopping for an apartment. The sink sprayer doesn't do it for me, and I'd pass on any kitchen that doesn't have a couple of drawers for the eating/cooking utensils and the "always necessary" - junk drawer. It doesn't make sense to have a full sized dishwasher in a micro studio. Clothes Washer/Dryer - always a perk. I've learned a lot from watching your video's - and am amazed that a bean counter could transform into a celebrity broker. But as the New York song says "if you can make it there, you'll make it anywhere"... Keep up the great work & Thanks!

    • @jacksonmorganfroghin4815
      @jacksonmorganfroghin4815 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      There was another "bean counter" who turned into a real stand-up guy, namely, Bob Newhart. His motto as an accountant was, "That's close enough."
      He not only had two successful sitcoms but is well known to the younger generation thru his appearances on Big Bang Theory ÀND traveled the world with Don Rickles which is quite an honor.
      Cash, like Bob, has that dry sense of humor so necessary to survive the asphalt jungle that is the Big Apple. I could see his 3rd career being in the world of comedy if he wanted to. He can adlib better than most comics today. As long as he doesn't get political he'd be a star. A huge star, in my humble opinion and a connoisseur of funny. CASH JORDAN is the most likable guy on TH-cam today.

    Violet is a cutie! One of the traditions I instituted was "early" birthdays for when family members are strapped for cash and can't afford an oil change, new shoes or a tire for their car. If your friends and loved ones place their wish list online with a major retailer. Amazon, Target or Wal*Mart are some examples then people can given them exactly what they want and more importantly NEED. I also am big on sending small luxury gifts to family who are going through a hard patch in their life. It makes it easy for this person to take time to pamper themselves when life is overwhelming them especially when the big stressor is finances. You can also just bake a small batch of brownies or cookies to gift a person with. A gift can be something small, but personal. Those are the things people remember. I also am a big believer in dollar cost averaging in terms of purchasing goods. You get what you need and don't overspend. NYC is an expensive place to live, that's for sure! I used to live in Los Angeles which isn't much better.

    I feel you on that Cash. I was in my 3 bedroom rent stabilized apt for 21 years paying dirt cheap rent but I had to move due to not having an elevator and getting tired of the neighborhood. I pay $700 more for less space BUT it was worth it. P.S. Violet is beautiful.

    Your video tours are awesome, direct to the point, showing the neighborhood, and the room measurements, and your Sink Sprayer reactions, have me laughing. Your comments and personality, is the icing on the cake. I think in you showing apartments for others, you will find the perfect apartment in Manhattan; Gramercy area for you and your family... Your daughter is beautiful, thank you for sharing Cash... You know how to sell, you should be working with the Big Dogs, selling Millionaire type Park Avenue, whole floor apartments. I hope you hit the Mother Load $$ Apartments, and GET that Commission!
    Hope all is well with you and your lovely family.🙏

    Hey Cash. Having lived in a Rudin Management building for 4 years when I heard you were looking I had to recommend them to you. Their one bedroom units are very well laid out (many are Emery Roth buildings), with decent sq. Footage (usually over 850), competitive rents, seem to be very friendly to young families and offer 2 year leases!! My rent on 57 St for my 900 sq. (3750/mo) went up 50 bucks over 4 years. The apartment, albeit a bit noisy, had 5 closets, a large terrace and a 19x12 bedroom. It may be a bit above your budget at first, but, they are great landlords and are really helpful with making your space comfortable. Just when I heard about the commute and having lived in Queens most of my life and trying different buildings in Manhattan I was really happy with this big, but private landlord. Hope this might be helpful. Just want to thank you, too for the great videos. I love your candid comments. Keep ‘em coming!!

    Cash it was nice to see your place and your beautiful little daughter. You have given me great insight as to prices, sizes and areas of available rentals. I have seen so much of NY from your vids and although I am not all that familiar with the City I prefer Manhattan from what I can see thus far. You are a wealth of knowledge and info Cash. Thank you so much.

    Unless you can afford private school or are going to home school, the biggest thing to worry about isn’t space (though that is a concern), it’s going to be school district when she turns 5 and goes to school. That’s the reason I bought my home where I did.

    I get you Cash about the rent stabilized apt; I live in one in Murray Hill. My husband and I had raised almost two kids (15 & 20) in a ONE bedroom apt with SEVEN closets, laundry room, gym, doorman, elevator, and a roof top deck. Sure I wanted to move to an OVERPRICED larger unit but we have been spoiled with our closets here and the super low rent. We plan to pass on the apt to the kids once the youngest graduates from college. And then we will move to an overpriced unit or buy a home elsewhere.
