omg those beats at the end are so fucking good. i don't understand how julian does it. he comes up with so many rhythms, each so different yet equally amazing. its hard to explain really i mean holy shit
Comedown Machine is probably my favorite. Doesn't sound like anything else that came out that year. A little bit of everything on that album. Loved it.
i understand that people are kindof disappointed it doesn't have the 'old strokes sound' and i miss that too, but i've got 3 albums with that sound i'm yet to get tired of and the new stuff is amazing in it's own way.
+miikesnow50 He is bold, always coming up with something "different". I do believe he is a genius, a freaking rockstar and probably one of the best artists of the 2000's
Man, I keep rewatching the old tyranny teasers/ads. I can’t wait for their next album. Hopefully what I read about it coming out early 2018 is true, and that early means January.
If you're lucky enough to freeze-frame it at exactly 4:05, you'll learn the record sounds exactly like dolphins making love. #biggestfan #juliancasablancas
Goddammit so great when there's a mysterious but substantial sort of interview/making of video for an album I'm too psyched for. And the bonus is if it includes Mr. Casablancas it's inevitable I'll end up watching this a dozen times before the month is out.
that little melody at the end is fantastic. julian really is great when he isn't with the strokes. i'm not saying he should quit the strokes cuz i really like that kinda music as well and 2 bands means more music, but his music in solo shows how much of a genius he is. phrases for the young was really a piece of art
Really glad they released this short primer sort of thing. It kinda puts the rad ideas behind the album firmly into context and makes it more accessible. I appreciate it when artists do that. Though I hope they dont raise the expectations too high! Lol it's Julian, who am I kidding..
Lovin it mang. I dig the new style. Grew up off punk myself, then punk got old. As i was searching for something new, i heard, "When it Started" off the spiderman soundtrack. I listened to it over and over again. Then i searched more into the band, The Strokes, and that's what opened up my liking to new music. That's also what made me want to play my own tunes. so thank you for that Julian and the rest of yous guys
Jules is making some kick ass exciting experimantal music and it is sounding incredible. Love the fact that Beard is in his band. This album should be something interesting
This is so COOL!! Thank you for making this to let us know you!! Julian you rock man! You're an amazing artist and the guys of The Voidz seem to be amazing to, great team.. CAN'T WAIT FOR THE ALBUM!!! :D
I really don't, it's just he wrote Is This It when he was like 22. It's expected to be all "waaaah I really like this girl but internal conflict is hard." Just as his music and lyrics are expected to get more mature as he does. And it sounds to me like you need to mature as well.
Some of the instrumentals here really sound like Comedown Machine (I'm kind of surprised cos I thought it would be more like Phrazes). Either way, I know that I will totally fall in love with the album. Julian has some serious talent.. it's been shown in the past and I can't imagine being disappointed in the future.
Once a week I call Waterloo Records and ask if there's a release date for this record. They are getting pretty tired of the phone call BUT I HAVE TO KNOW.
6:08 " Today were all like ,Oh Yea slavery is terrible, but when it was happening in its time ....... cluless, but then 30 years later....-Maybee Slavery wasn't all that bad" - HULI- ANN FERNANDO CACABLANCAS.
He NEVER said "maybe slavery wasn't all that bad". You need to take that out of your quotations. He said "30 years later everyone will say oh yeah slavery is terrible, but when it's happening in their day its like..clueless". You even have the quote from the video cued up in time in your post. get it right man.
You're clearly the kind of people that seeks the devil in every sentence a human being pronounces. Use your brain, not what the TV made out of your brain, and you'll see Julian is right and that there is nothing offending about what he's sayin :) he's just sayin that we can't see a situation the same 30years later as we we're seeing it when it happened, it's just true. For human beings (slaves didn't like it but it was a common thing, like positive racism let's say) slavery was just a common thing, a bad or a good one depending on who you were, but now it's horrible to us cause we're thinking with our 21th century head. Sorry for my english :P
he's saying that people don't realise what is good or bad until they have perspective - often retrospect. but i don't blame you for not misinterpreting, casablancas doesn't make sense most of the time
discopowerpack hes basically saying more famous dead than alive. ie Van go, Cobain , Strokes. On slavery however. Slavery aka indentered servitude was an economic labor system. that killed serfdom. slavery was popular until it became obselete to industrialism and to globalization. However america was late on this trend. France and Engalnd had already made it illegal because they found that workers were more productive when their workers could jump into the middle class. No we look back and say slavery was horrible. Now that we have globalization . Its replacement (ROBOT LABOR). We will look back and say , oh yeah Chinese Sweatshops and Wal mart were horrible.
I think I saw alex carapetis on the tv show impractical jokers today can't confirm if it was him but the guy looked just like him and was also Australian
I just realized this Beardo guy is my neighbor.
Lucky haha
No way....

Herr der Zeiten plot twist: princess Zelda's second name is Reptilia... DUN DUN DUUUN
Matt Reptilia More like whales.
omg those beats at the end are so fucking good. i don't understand how julian does it. he comes up with so many rhythms, each so different yet equally amazing. its hard to explain really i mean holy shit
I can't shake this feeling that some of the bassline comes from Blondie - Heart of glass influences.
WHAT A TIME TO BE ALIVE
JULIAN IS WEARING THE 100% IRISH HAT OMFG
Seems like a lot of people are disappointed with the last strokes album.
Everything Julian does seems to be nothing short of brilliant IMO.
Comedown Machine is probably my favorite. Doesn't sound like anything else that came out that year. A little bit of everything on that album. Loved it.
i understand that people are kindof disappointed it doesn't have the 'old strokes sound' and i miss that too, but i've got 3 albums with that sound i'm yet to get tired of and the new stuff is amazing in it's own way.

that little melody at the end is fantastic. julian really is great when he isn't with the strokes. i'm not saying he should quit the strokes cuz i really like that kinda music as well and 2 bands means more music, but his music in solo shows how much of a genius he is. phrases for the young was really a piece of art
Cant wait to hear this...i will be in another universe once this is released..i wish julian did more interviews.
The Hype is real, I really like this interview, im glad to hear more about The Voidz and how this all started!
Really glad they released this short primer sort of thing. It kinda puts the rad ideas behind the album firmly into context and makes it more accessible. I appreciate it when artists do that. Though I hope they dont raise the expectations too high! Lol it's Julian, who am I kidding..
Wow everything sounds amazing! I can't wait to hear the rest!

FATHER ELECTRICITY
im really digging this. it seems less self-centered and 'young people problemsy' than the strokes
I really don't, it's just he wrote Is This It when he was like 22. It's expected to be all "waaaah I really like this girl but internal conflict is hard." Just as his music and lyrics are expected to get more mature as he does. And it sounds to me like you need to mature as well.

6:35 I can not wait for that song :D
Does anyone know what song he sings at 1:22?
Father electricity
That dolphin-making-love simile was spot on.
Is the last track played intense to sound like One Way Trigger or what?
My best advice. Stop fighting each other and work together. You'll be fine
6:39 One way Trigger/YOLO Rip-Off? XD
What's the name of the song at the end of the video?
nevermind I find it. Love you cult records.
@@Dreamwave what was the name of the song?
@@sebastian.2.311 It's called "Dare I Care".
1.) Julian is a musical genius!
2.) When can I pre-order?!?! For real!
5:23 is the demo version of the human sadness sound effect only slowed down
I think I saw alex carapetis on the tv show impractical jokers today can't confirm if it was him but the guy looked just like him and was also Australian
i really prefer the ending of Father Electricity at 1:30 compared to the one we got on the album :I
Jeff Kite sorta looks like Albert Hammond Jr
100% dope flavour
quando q vai vim?
Phantoms of liberty is amazing
Anyone know the name of the song at 1:22? I don't think they performed it live...
i think its Father of Electricity.
Julian, come to Lollapalooza Brazil with The Voidz band!
Time Machine Rock.
That last fucking track. Holy balls. Can't wait
Beardo just sits there while Julian Casablancas is getting all deep
i cant wait...
That song at 7.05 though
Wow that part at 7:23 sounds really groovy, I wonder if thats on the album?
its weird because it sounds exactly like One Way Trigger...
Evan D I was just about to type the same thing
Evan D I don't think it sounds like One Way Trigger at all.
Evan D that was the first thing i thought of
Evan D It's the voidz version of One Way Trigger
Alan Watts at the start? Even more hyped now!!
4:04 "the voidz music sounds like dolphins making love..." julian casablancas
0:32 Does anyone know what kind of car is that?
