@@skatewrld4002 yeah, wish I hadn't stopped, but also really happy to get back into it... Agitated an old knee injury yesterday though, so it'll probably be a couple weeks off for now...
This is a really good video , it's like you kind of forget these even you seen them hundreds of times . Watching that was definitely a blast to the past
Ronnie Bertino and Maldonado's tricks were the two that really stood out when I was a kid. Marc Johnson's kickflip back tail was at Sequoia Jr. High. I went to school there and K-grinded that one -- which I was stoked on. When Marc did that, a couple of locals were there and told us about. I didn't believe it -- I didn't think you could kickflip tail a rail. Then the Maple Seven Steps to Heaven video dropped and the evidence was there. That trick was incredible for 1996.
this was the best thing I've seen in footage compilation history! I would pay good money for a full length version with some behind the scenes and a couple solid interviews.
It’s so epic seeing Heath and Shane hitting up El Toro back in the day. Now they could literally do a handrail compilation with just the Red Bull team alone! It’s amazing what the Red Bull team has accomplished in the last few years. This is history tho, I grew up on “Welcome to Hell” and the Alien Workshop videos so this is nostalgia for me. Anyone remember the Adventures of Boozy the Clown?! He was before CKY and Jack Ass!
+Erik Gunderson Politics, youtube pros can't skate as well as people in videos outside of this platform so they compensate with their opinion only a ten year old cares about. That's all.
Great compilation! Derek Elmendorf's roller coaster of a rail in the Thrasher video entitled "biggest handrail ever?" should have made it over a couple of those, though.
the one i was waiting for but didn't see was the carlos ruiz bs lip down el toro. i remember being blown away when i first saw that. i guess you can't have it all
Malto's bs overcrook is to me probably the most beautiful and insane trick ever to go down on a rail. Grinding on the front truck down a steep rail like that..
Gonz definitely did some other crazy hand rail tricks before 1991 though because he was doing 180 grinds down the rail at the Ohio Skateout in 1988 which blew my mind at the time.
They could do like 20 editions of this, some of these guys have 20 tricks alone that could be on here. Also maybe a Scott Kane trick or Carlos Ruiz back lip el toro just to name two.
+Matt Wright kickflip back 5-0 (ppl still really never do that on a rails. hubbas are 10x easier), switch heel front noseslide (still an NBD...never even see it on ledges let alone down rails), sickest kickflip back crook some pretty big rail, kickflip front crook, kickflip front nose blunt (craziest shit ever), suski down big round rails, bs feeble a monster rail that kirchart later fs boarded as an ender, he basically had like 3+ NBDs at every famous rail in socal. he could also skate stairs and gaps and he did some really sick lines, too (even shit at love). i really just loved his style and board control - he did everything so proper and effortlessly
hannessf19 Fuck yeah bro. Matt Berger is an amazingy talented skater. He skated Phx am a couple years in a row where I live, and I witnessed him backside lipslide up and down the handrail at my local skatepark! It was crazy witnessing that, he even bounced after hitting the first part of the rail and hung on in there. I think it was Phx am 2014
Whoops-missed Gonz at "OHIO SKATE-OUT" (oh yeah pre-'89") in 1987. First I ever seen go up a handrail. Also, his 180 to 50-50 in Video Days. I'm still a Gonz fan!
That steep as board slide he did could have easily been in this! Do much mayhem though! JT's ender of Welcome to Hell could have easily been in there too.
+Niko Kääpä Sure, but just imagine how long it would be to simply compile a video with ALL of those. I think this video pretty much covers the bases just right. It starts with simple slides, then flips to slide, some variations, increasingly big rails, going up the rails and then very hard tricks to slides/grinds.
+Drinkstoomuch83 actually it's the other way around, small margin for error means there is little that would be allowed to go wrong. Think of a margin as brackets, if the brackets are small or close together, you can't fit much between them, very little error. If the brackets are large or far apart, then much more fits inside of them, much more error is allowed to get your desired result.
crazy how fast skateboarding progresses. first handrail was boardslide in 1989 then just 2 years later someone was already kickfliping into it? insane!
+version191 YES!!! Totally forgot about that until you mentioned it. Like a 25+ stair rail. or was it the double kinker that was in an old 411 opening? Either of those. I remember it was like 25 stair boardslide on his 25th year as pro or something like that. Eric Bork's 25 stair crooked grind in 1999 should have got honorable mention. You can't get EVERY gnarly rail trick in a 5 minute clip. Yeah...Cab's was awesome.
Make an extended version of Handrail Hell that's twice as long. Same footage as this video plus other groundbreakers that didn't make the cut in this one.
This is making me really feel that love I have for skateboarding ❤️❤️❤️
crazy how im seeing this comment 4 years later

This is skate history. Great video. Thx for sharing it.
it's amazing to see how the shape of boards has changed over time
This is a really good video , it's like you kind of forget these even you seen them hundreds of times . Watching that was definitely a blast to the past
That rail the Gonz boardslided is insane. I've been there, and I will tell you that it is video game like.
This video is incredible. Some of the greatest tricks to ever go down. Fuck yes!

This is the best compilation rail history ever! With the coolest music! Kadavar creature of the demon
Malto's nose grind in slo mo is truly sublime. His trick and Arto's back lip are my favourites.
Best video ever to watch before skating.

love it how the first clip was the year I was born, got to watch skating evolution through my whole life
+Jamie Deakin I was born a few decades before you and I can say the same exact thing.
Cardiel is the only one allowed to be in this video without a make
Time?
He landed tricks in this?
Some legendary stuff here but I think Burmans Philly rail drop off takes the cake.
impossible to choose the sickest one from these
Brought back memories from when I used to skate. Those were the days. The good ole days! 92-95.. 🤘
I know like half these guys from the Tony Hawk games. Seein them just takes me back...
wow..great classics. thnx for posting that stuff

where is Silas's 50-50 gap 50-50 that one is mind blowing
+goldcrossLOLs Too Transworld for them probably...
Ok I will make a new video but it makes me look like a wannabe

best history lesson ever

That was incredibly entertaining.

+Axl Rose ate my Buick Or his kickflip front board? You could make an entire video dedicated to his handrail tricks.

that ollie north to smith was crazy!
CARDIELS 50-50 IS THE SICKEST RAIL I HAVE SEEN IN MY 24 YERARS OF SK8.
Awesome. Could've added dollins crooked ender from sight unseen
That switch tre nosegrind tho
Malto's had a huge margin for error, scary.
You mean small margin for error?
Small margin for error would imply that there was almost nothing that could go wrong!

crazy how fast skateboarding progresses. first handrail was boardslide in 1989 then just 2 years later someone was already kickfliping into it? insane!
