The following comes from a mission statement that appeared in the inaugural issue of SPIN. It means as much to this current staff as it did to the original writers and editors.
A confession: SPIN is imperfect. It’s rough-edged, restless, insatiably curious. A little aggressive, a little cocky. Youthfully uncompromising, but maturely flexible. Romantic - definitely! Irreverent - sure! Unpredictable - yes. Very alive.

Video footage of Yngwie being patient and respectful.
Up next: Bigfoot playing chess with a unicorn.
😂😂😂😂
He is very kind and respectful in person
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
LOL
He wasn't respectful. When the guy on the right started talking, Yngwie jus
interrupted him.
Yngwies bends are always perfectly intonated i swear
Yes it is. That is what Steve Vai loves about Yngwie - his intonation. Even if the vibrato would come from a nasty slide.
Scalloped frets
@@shayne974 almost doesn't change anything. It's all skills.
Good quality fretwork and bridge stability plus using vibrato to get those last few cents is key. I’m not even talking about practice, of course.
@@mrpierreedelhave you ever played a guitar with scalloped frets?
Meanwhile the other guitar isn’t in tune. Sharp AF.
Thats the first thing I heard. Painfully out lol
One is tuned to Eb standard, the other in E standard, both fretting the same location in the string, so yeah one is sharp or the other is flat 😂😂😂
Half step dissonance is nasty AF😂😂
Yngwie always talked about notes and chords as if he was in E standard, but always tuned to Eb 😂😂😂😂
Not sharp, different tuning. Standard vs 1/2 step down
@@TheMusicalMedic No, it's not a different tuning, that's not s half-step difference.
bro looks like elvis and ozzy combined
Ozzy and Elvis kid 🤣
Ozzy Presley is real.
Yes!!!! Was trying to figure it out!!
@@edgarsifuentes3248👏👏👏👏 well said
Ozvis
I must say,Yngwie’s vibrato is just gorgeous.
With a scalloped neck.
Wonderful guitar player and it takes a lot of practice. Just don’t like that guitar style lol. Be boop be boop be boop thousands times over. No real melody
@@billymerkel3553 He has the same vibrato when he uses other guitars
Yngwie in a rare moment of calm and patience!
He's a lot more like that these days.
@@mr.brenman2132 Yes! And, I think that is good for him. I think we all get there eventually.
he's aged like wine. I keep seeing interviews with him in which I actually like and appreciate what he is saying.
@@ammarayoub3246 I guess everyone eventually changes. I will concede that he's become very different rom his early days.
"1 more simple thing"... Proceeds to eat the guitar😂
Pretty nice sounding guitar eating, I must say 😅
A lot of people only look at Yngwie's speed playing without realising how gorgeous his vibrato sounds. Even when he is going really fast and aggressive, Yngwie's vibrato is always spot on.
Scalloped neck
@@ohmthepoet8428 Even with all the scalloped neck, you still have to possess good technique. Otherwise you will not be able to pull it off.
Basic technique in music cannot be sorted out simply by having another gear.
I'm always so impressed, at how impressed, Yngwie is of himself.
Hahahahahahaha
Well Said!
I like that he's being nice nowadays at least it seems. He's kind of pulling a Mike Tyson and just being chill and cool in his old age
Dude looks like he came back from the future teaching his great grandson how to play guitar at an adult age 😂
He is extremely talented. Don't be jealous. You rock dude !
in a parallel universe where randy rhoads was a singer and ozzy osbourne a guitar god
Without Sabbath Ozzy would not been known, Randy was destine to be known and that’s the difference.
@@metallion0738why? This had nothing to do with that.
LOL, he’s like Ted Williams teaching how to hit: “You see the ball, you hit the ball..it’s that easy”.
Nice example. Ted did books and a series of videos called "the science of hitting". he used physics. he didn't say it's easy, not ever
Yngwie is in a League of His Own. There are fast players, and then there is Yngwie. Nuff Said 😎
Yngwie is freaking awesome! Listened to him jam 30 something years ago.. and i still like it!
*plays one note*
"Yeah, you got it"
*plays 700,000 notes in 1.2 seconds*
😆😆😆
Scalloped frets!! Love it
Their deep too.
Bucket item to get a guitar not only with scalloped, but also fanned frets. I just gotta try one!
@carlbaumeister3439 i have a rare guitar store the next town over and I tried one with scalloped and fanned frets it was amazing, just out of my price range unfortunately
@@manhattanmike6959 Whoa! Would it be rude to ask how much?
@carlbaumeister3439 no it's not rude. It was just shy of 3 grand
hope you didn't offer him a donut.
Yngwie: "Don't even mention it." 🍩🤢🤮
@@davide724 hostile...
Dude back in the 80s me and my friends were like yeah he's the best he's badass
He is the king of guitar still
And still is really
Elvis with long hair and a shredder is iconic
One thing I did learn from this. How to pronounce Yngwie’s name 😂
Back in the 1980's I was living in London, and used to go to the Hammersmith Odeon box office on Friday mornings to buy concert tickets. I can’t remember which tickets I had gone to buy, but I knew that tickets for an Yngwie tour were about to go on sale, and that he was expected to play the Hammersmith Odeon.
I asked the assistant in the box office if she knew when tickets for Yngwie Malmsteen were going on sale. Instead of answering she just asked me to repeat what I had said, and the other woman also stopped to listen as I repeated my question. ... They thanked me as they had seen his name written down, but didn’t know how to pronounce it. 😆😅🤣😆
She didn’t know, and in the end he didn’t play the Hammersmith Odeon, he played the Dominion on Tottenham Court Rd instead, which was between West End theatrical shows at the time.
Amazing, after this single video I sound just like him! What a great teacher!!!
This dude is an absolute legend. Cool to see him in my feed.
Yngwies vibrato really deserves more recognition. Everyone knows his harmonic minor doodely doodely wooodely doodely do shred but his vibrato is really really good too
That f*ckin' vibrato...
yep and it's only half good as Gary fukn Moore's
More is more!!!
one thing I've noticed is that Yngwie and John Mayer are the only two guitarists who actually play their signature guitars all the time. which means they really put effort into designing it.
keep practicing ingwie.. you'll get it!!
That patience came with a truck load of doughnuts. 😆.
The Maestro is earned the title, came to u.s. with only a toothbrush and guitar, I have cassettes with him playing in alcatraz with gram bonnet on vocals I think and with steeler?his classical background even had my mom liking him when metal was young ,seen him 3 times at the arcada in st.charles with wall of marshalls, always has time for his fans at signing events ,his love for deep purple is honest ,when zep and sabbath influenced players.reminds me of Paganini, dark lord of violin.Rising force is a masterpiece and his covers on blue lightning are well done.didnt know what an arpeggio was before him,and forgive my spelling.Him and Uli Jon are on a level beyond others.frank Marino is up there also.
Y'all know that deep inside, he is the undisputed king of shred guitar.
He is probably 2nd on my list. 1st is buckethead for me
KYNGwie!
Uhmmm shawn lane?
Paul Gilbert
Sorry, that's paul gilbert
Stunning player great tone and vibrato
From that smile pulling the bend and the vibrato.... he made Borat so happy. "That's Naiiice!"
Guitar tech: how much reverb?
YM: Yes, please
reverb is life. so is wah. wah reverb and distortion = guitar hero
I have PTSD flash backs to the yngwie malmsteen tutorial video tape.
I love you yngwie malmsteen
I can confirm that once you has some time put into the guitar, its very difficult to not just go nuts on it🤣🤣🤣. ESPECIALLY when that badboy is amplified!!
Yngwie vibrato!!❤
Simply unique!!!😊
Those jimi bends sounded like lil angry elephants 😂
It looks so easy for him to play fast😁
The greatest guitarist who’s never sold an album! I can’t even tell you his best song, because I can’t think of any that stand out
What's that one different song he has that uses the harmonic minor scale.....oh wait 😂
YOu don't remember, I'll never forget
Well... Rising force? Bible of neoclassical
@@rikmarlon Less of a Bible, more of a church pamphlet. It's his 17th best selling album at a whopping 52,000 sales 😂
Eeeh, not at all. He sold a lot of albums especially in Japan and Russia. What do you think made him a millionaire back in the 80s??
He’s a beast on guitar
The Ferrari badge! Gangster
THE MOST HUMBLE GUITARIST EVER!
Nope... say it again after you meet him yourself
Good joke that one
😂
😂😂😂👍👍👍😂best joking comment ever !!!
@@crimsontv123 r/sarcasm
So you bend E and then start shredding. Got it.
You gotta bend up first...
Beast!
I really like to see this aspect of Yngwie
He's as fast and clear in person as on recordings and not many can say that.
Amazing speed with clearity and feeling
Yngwie: "Hi, I'm Yngwie Malmsteen"
CC: "Hi, I'm Amy Marblestein"
It didn't even say that? It said it correctly
@@ohmthepoet8428 It did on my phone at least. weird.
All through this video i was waiting for yngwie to shout at him😂😂😂😂
Hi I'm "Amy Marblestein" lol the captions got me.
Saw him live last year. He is the best guitarist I’ve seen with my own eyes
The burny arpeggios are so old my friend!!
And they don't produce one memorable song
@@thomasnickel1278 True, very true. But they are cool to listen to.
@@thomasnickel1278 No, it produced a whole album...Rising Force.
That editing lol Good times.
Thanks to everyone involved, here.
Where is the fookin fury?😂
He seems so pleasant
If 77 elvis played 80s guitar
I love how the other guys guitar is out of tune and has zero effects. Gotta love Yngwie and how patient he is haha.
maybe yngwie can demonstrate how to be a universally loved and admired guitarist? im waiting for that lesson
I think he has been loved and admired already. I don't look to celebrities to be perfect saints. Maybe you should try doing the same.
Saw him live, untied his shoes while he was playing, didn't even notice...
The key to the perfect vibrato is those scalloped frets. No friction, full control
wow, yngwies action is really high
The Power Slide is for amateurs..I prefer the Arpeggio..
Ingvie can still FaceMelt 🙂
The uncle we all deserve 🎼
Saw him live with my dad when I was a teenager.
Was in a small indoor venue. It was awesome.
Scalloped frets on Yngwies guitar 🎸 😊
When he was young, he wore a pentagram necklace.
Now it's a crucifix
Elvis getting his shred on.
My mom worked at a department store in Dayton, Ohio when he was in town at Hara Arena. The band came in to buy jeans and mom got to help them and hang out for a bit. Said it was amazing to just happen so randomly.
I’ll always respect Yngwie… not because he’s a good player (he is). But he’s consistent: he loves his yellow guitars and he loves red Ferraris.
Best vibrato in the world. I don't think anyone can compare with his vibrato.
Wait until you hear Dave Gilmour and BB king 😂
Still the man
yes The super amazong guitar player 80s he took rock by Storm .LEGEND ..MASTER PLAYER, TEACHER..GREAT GREAT GREAT
This guy does not age he's got some great genes
I'm so glad he said this. Tired of people thinking playing with your teeth is difficult... it's not.
.
It's so funny the differences between how to impress a guitarist and how to impress a non-guitarist.
That vibrato!!!
He's got seafood on his fingerboard.......
I guess I’m the first one to get your joke. Ha!
@@carlbaumeister3439 seconded!
Getting my own fretboard Mackereled at the weekend, those bends gonna be insaaane
@@James-ju4gj Now that was funny!!! 🤣😂😁
@@James-ju4gj Maybe some "Grotto" vibrato too.....
Such an awesome player
'I don't emphasise to play fast...'
O RLY
I never got how people could play with their teeth, it hurts thinking about it. I'd be worried about messing up my teeth, perticularly because i already had my front tooth fixed twice from chipping it as a kid.
Your teeth are fine. It's your gums you gotta worry about 😅
Yngwie has always impressed me, mainly his speed and precision. However there are many who I prefer to listen to, it’s all subjective. Paul Gilbert plays with equal precision and speed. His vibrato is outstanding. But his songwriting is great. For me, it’s always going to boil down to great songs and innovation. That’s why Edward Van Halen will always be the GOAT. He pioneered the majority of the techniques that are the arsenal of just about everyone playing today, he changed the way the guitar is played and made. Yngwie is one of the most impressive technicians and neoclassical players ever and deserves all accolades given, but Edward will forever be the one that had everything. I’m glad we still have Yngwie still with us and playing like the master he is.
Lars Lannerbäck is so nice in this video, he almost had me believe that he likes donuts.
Yngwie forgot to say about his Eb tuning 😂
Master of the Led guitar
Thank euuuu -Thank ya vary moch !
Your learning from the MASTER!
He is the king!
I still have his first cassette.
Yngwie is cosplaying Ozzy
Yngwie a living legend 👌
I feel a rising force ❤️
King of reverb!
He's not teaching he's torching an amateur guitar player for just few seconds😂
🍩 🍩 🍩 🍩 🍩 🍩 DONUT
Yngwie: "How do I delete your comment?"
I got "donuts" for a "dimebag"🤣
I'm glad you were honest in the video "How" to shred with guitar god...
Yngfie! Your hair is awesome! What color you've using on that frisure? You worth of it!😅
Not even in tune but he's good enough to go with it 🙌🏻
In the 90z he was touring with Dio & & Dio called him a Swedish meatball. I ve met them both. Yngwie twice
Flight of the bumblebee please!!
When the guy started doing the same bend..so he started getting wild...
