after all this years i finally found the name of the game i used to watch my father play all the time when i was 6-7 years old, SD F-1 Grand Prix, no wonder i never found it, it is a japan only, man i can't even describe how happy i am, this brings so many memories, thank you
Top Gear 1 and 2 are some of the best SNES racing games ever made , along with F-Zero and Super Mario Kart.
Especially TOP GEAR 2 I spent multiple hours on that game!

Taz-Mania was definitely released in Europe, and Mario Kart came out in Europe in 1992 as well. Just some idiot on Wikipedia who made up a release date messed up everyone's info.

Thanks to this video, i FINALLY found the racing game I used to play as a very little kid. Turned out to be Nigel Mansellis World Championship!! I could tell instantly.
Uniracers!!! One of the best 2 player racing games ever, it holds up to this day! Most people don't know about it because Pixar made a short 3d film about a red unicycle and sued the game developer forcing them to stop selling it and remove every copy from stores! Good thing it's still around via emulation. Try this game if you have never played it, it's so much fun!
Oahu Pc I picked up a good repro cart from ebay of UniRacers and you're right, it's tons of fun. Another great one is Rock'n'Roll Racing.
Top Gear, F-Zero, Mario Kart and Rock'roll Racing are the best ones.
RoC 2 also great because it's F-Zero but bigger (upgrade system, 2 classes, realistic vehicles, etc).

Yeah, Super NES had a lot of fun racing games. But you can't beat F-Zero, Super Mario Kart, and the Top Gear trilogy.

My favorite SNES racing game was and still is Top Gear 3000. I would spend hours having fun with it and I still play it sometimes nowadays.
Besides Top Gear 3000 my second and third would be Mario Kart and Super Off Road Baja respectively.

SNES was the place to be for racing games in the early 90s. Mode 7 was such a game changer, since it allowed for a real sense of speed and real-time movement around the corners. For many of us it was the in-between step to real 3D. Sadly, there were many bad racing games in SNES, too, which weren't planned and executed very well. Nevertheless, the ones that made it to the top really were mind bending.

I remember going to my friends an d got to play road rash on the genesis. I loved it but only had the SNES. I tried desperately to find something similar and got suzuka 8 hours. Let's just say I was a little disappointed...
Wow, even the "bad" ones are light-years ahead the Sega Genesis racing games.
How? The Genesis has some amazing racing games like Outrun, Virtua Racing, the Road Rash games or Micro Machines 1 and 2, just to name a few.
Absolutely right. Most Genesis racing games felt outdated after the SNES came up with Mode 7. Mode 7 made it possible to have real movement and real speed on the track. heck, you could even turn around and race the wrong way. it felt like a quantum leap. Not saying there were no good Genesis racing games, but none of them had SNES quality. Specially not Sega's home ports of Super Scaler Arcade games, they were very disappointing because they lacked fluid scaling.

Genesis had bad racing games except for a few like outrun or super hang to name a few of them, there is something about mode 7 with racing games on snes, it just works

Let's not kid ourselves. Both the snes and Genesis/Mega drive had lots of bad racing games. Most racing games from the 8 and 16 bit era haven't ages very well.
Damn, some of them are really awful but the ones who got it right are still enjoyable today!

Does anyone of you remember an SNES racing game, kinda like Top Gear... but this game has this particular thing that, when you're _racing_ the environment changes like... it'll suddenly start to rain, or snow would fall or it could even display a sunset or nightfall if you where racing a huge road.
I remember you could choose different colored cars...
I played it around 1995 or 1996 when I was 4 years old, so that's the only things I remember about it.

btw, I think you missed one. Sugoi Hebereke (or one of the Hebereke games). it was basically a run around the track type of racer.
Quite a few of these look way more basic than I remember the snes......some look more like NES games. than I remember.

Snes wasn't a nice place to race. Few good games on the library.
Many Formula 1 games but yeah most of them handled better on the Genesis. However, outside of F1 the Genesis doesn't have anything as cool as F-ZERO.
Not really, the Snes has many great racing games, however has many bad ones too so you have to see which ones are worthy first and sadly many good ones never left Japan, fortunately most of them can be played without knowing japanese.
The mode 7 technology allowed the racing genre on snes flourish

Mode 7 racing games look terrible, like a kid with a toy car pushing it on one of those plastic mats with roads drawn on it. NONE of these games come close to OutRun arcade graphics engine OR Amiga 1000 from 1985 running Lotus Turbo Challenge 2 fullscreen at zero frame drops with arcade levels of roadside objects. Super Off-road The Baja is the only interesting looking one of the lot unless you have no taste in retro racing games.

Same here unfortunately. I remember it was a twisted-metal type game I used to play quite a lot with my mates back in the 90s. Thought it was Street Racer when I saw it but now I‘m certain it’s not.

In the racing division I think Sega had better games. Here it looks like most of the games are just Mario Kart or F-Zero reskinned. I believe there is more depth in the graphics on the Sega Genesis for this type of game.
