PCT 2024 Episode 16: We Have Arrived… THE SIERRA!! - Days 53-55 on the Pacific Crest Trail

- The PCT journey continues! After enjoying the final morning at Kennedy Meadows, we hike out and start climbing in elevation. After the long, hot desert, we are rewarded with trees, green meadows, and an abundance of flowing water! It’s a dream come true! We finish off by meeting up with our friends, Harrison and Acacia, and link up with Acacia’s parents for some incredible trail magic! Cheers!

So, 17 miles is not a big mileage day for a PCTer?
We were doing 20s heading into the Sierra. Doing 17 or less through here though. A lot of PCTers are still hiking 20 mile days here. We’ll have to average over 20 miles a day after the Sierra to finish before October though, so in the end 17 will be a low mileage day.
Justin, Anna, I hope you know how much this means to those of us who just aren't able to do something like this. Watched just a little of your older videos but these PCT ones are brilliant. LOVE it all so much. 🤘😎 Inspires me to keep up the little hikes and still see the beauty and enjoy. 😁 Thanks and be safe. 😎

Well let's see, what are the plusses of this long section of the trail...much cooler temperatures, plenty of water (no long water carries), incredible views, and if you're lucky, wildlife (other hikers have seen bears on the trail, and plenty of deer). good luck on the trail.

Other than some day hikes in Yosemite, the Sierra has escaped me. Looking for to seeing you there. Heading to North Cascades in a week for some Glacier play.
