It's really simple, have principles, treat everyone equally, be fair, don't play favorites, don't gossip about employees, don't micromanage and be honest. It's simple and yet so hard for people in high tier positions to get right.
Perfect. Spont on. People have to want to work for you. Every owner should create this, and there will be a line of qualified people waiting to work there. Again, spot on. Congrats
I'm a contractor and I made all of the other businesses in my area very angry at me. I treated and paid my employees the best out of anyone else in my region, by a large margin. The results were, that everyone wanted to work for me. Many of the other contractors were angry because I was affecting their revenue streams. I could have cared less, they had it coming. Many contractors give a man a fish. I don't, I teach a man to fish, so that he can feed his progeny. Thats the difference between them and I.
Just found your channel. Looks like some interesting videos. I don't see this discussed much, but something I've noticed at my previous few employers is this odd tendency for people to just disappear. I know there are likely legal considerations but when employees leave or are let go, there's no longer any acknowledgement that they are gone, no clue why they left, and it's almost like we, as the remaining employees, are supposed to pretend they were never there. This is hell on employee morale, especially when it was perceived that the person who left was a good employee. I think some of it is the tendency lately of companies to fire when an employee gives notice, and I understand some people are let go for cause. I've brought this up to management at a few places to be met with shrugs or deferring to HR. I don't think many people in upper management realize the downside of this policy.
Ill tell ya from experience, if you dont pay enough, the "good jobs" will be detrimental, if not reflected with pay. I dont have self-esteem issues and I cant feed my family or pay my bills with back pats.
Left to their own devices most employees stay. Just don't screw them over. But please don't ever say it's not about the money. Money is litarally the point of working.
I hear you with wanting to create a culture where people want to stay. But I'll tell you, if I have the choice between two companies that both have good cultures, opportunities for advancement, etc., I'll take the one that pays me $10K more. I have a responsibility to my family to provide for them and if I turn down $10K at no disadvantage to me I've failed in that responsibility. And at least where I live there are plenty of companies that have good cultures. Now on the other hand I will and have left a company for a different place where the benefits were lower but the culture was better.
Heads Up brother we go to work for pay if you're offered 5 to 10k more elsewhere with the same work load you would be stupid to stay there is no loyalty from employers if things get tight they have no trouble laying off yet expect loyalty back I think employers thinking hasn't changed for decades but the new generation of workers have it used to be if you're not happy you can leave stand over bullshit now the shoes on the other foot and the employees respond with the same attitude and they cry pay is first priority job satisfaction second
You should show people that you appreciate them and not saying nothing at all, the job where I work at, the upper management don’t give an hoot about you, I’m moving on
Give them a little at a time until they work their way up to minimum wage then inflate the economy repeat every twenty years or so u will never have to worry about obesity guarantee no weight gain
Retired engineer here. Yes I made a good salary. But what really floated my boat was working on cool projects. I would put in all types of hours if I was interested in the work. So no it isn’t always about the money.

Also, don't announce record profits, and pull up to the office in a new corvette, and then layoff half the staff.

You should do everything this guys says and then pay me more.
In an era of 15% year over year inflation back pats don’t pay bills.

Respect and dignity.
Stop micromanaging
The cardinal rule of labor relations is that an organization which cares about its people does not put imbeciles in charge of them.

Dont drive a new 100,000 truck and not pay your subs. The employees take the heat for your greed.

We won’t be getting any bright ideas dreams were extinguished since adolescence
I dare not speak up for my rights I don’t want to lose my privileges!!!
My privileges are far more important than rights any dummy knows that
1:00 min in “It shouldn’t be about money” then why would anyone work if it isn’t about the money. People work because they need money..😂😂😂😂😂😂

Another tidbit. If you are frikkin 70, retire already, and allow the 50 year old to run the place.
