Wow, I'm surprised with Eva in this, I don't like her rendition of this song neither on the CD nor the DVD, but here she sounds amazing! And Siobhan Dillon is simply fantastic, one of my favourite Ellen's for sure ^^
+unidan82 I haven't seen her as Kim. I've been 4 times and every time it was Eva. Hopefully Tanya will do the UK tour. She has a really nice voice but I feel Eva has a good time and a more innocent sound.
Ok so I heard the original (which I love) version with Lea Salonga and Claire Moore, which I can't help but compare to, and this rendition is not bad though. The harmony at the end is the part that I thought was done really well and seems to hold a candle to the original. The lyric changes for this song is what made it less impressive for me but that's mainly because I felt that the original lyrics were brilliant as it is and made their stories more impactful to listen to. One thing I noticed and I've been trying to determine who did the higher and lower notes during the harmony and it looks like it's been switched here. In the original, Lea sang the alto or lower harmony during "Until we die" part and Claire did the higher part, whereas, 3:46 Eva did the higher and Siobhan did a lower one. Siobhan did a pretty good job; she sounds pretty close to Claire though. Eva is decent as well.
ELLen' lyric change was done to make her character more concerned about Chris' trauma. I didnt like the lyric change at first. But then I watched the " the making of" and the lyricist explained why they did. And then I listened to it on repeat. I understood. It makes It makes Ellen not selfish, and care about what Chris and what he went through.
I love Lea Salonga as much as the next person, but Eva Noblezada isn't acting out Lea. She's playing Kim. You must not be a theater actor, because it is an unwritten rule that you should never try to completely copy a previous actor.
