I love the way Graham Norton sets his guests up and then sits back and allows them to be the star. Absolutely a master host.

Absolutely, best talk show host on the planet. He makes all of his guests feel comfortable, it's always felt to me like less of a traditional 'talk show' and more of a actors 'round table' in a way.

I think it comes from having other guests. Kimmel and Fallon feel a need for 'dialogue'. On Graham Norton, people can tell stories to the group.

Yes! And Jay Leno was the worst at interrupting. If the guest was getting a laugh, Leno would almost seem jealous and try to say something funny, too.

I've taught in a school with hearing impaired kids, and that microphone thing really does happen all the time. It's so easy to forget you're wearing them, it happened to me more than once - not quite as embarrassing as Greg's case, since I never wore my mother's undies...

God, that's happened to me as well. I'm not a teacher, but my friend and I were helping out in a class and we were assigned to different groups. I had the microphone thing cos my group had a hearing impaired kid, and my group was really pissing me off, so I went and bitched about them to my friend. And then that nugget at the end to seal it-when everyone thought the story was over. 👏👏

Those devices that Greg is referring to were often called "radio links". The teacher would wear a microphone and transmitter, and the pupil would wear a receiver. This meant the hearing impaired kid could hear the teacher much more clearly. I often experienced things like the teachers going to the toilet, talking to staff members, etc. If you could recognise the squeak of the doors that the teacher was going through, you could warn the other kids in the classroom (who were messing around while the teacher was away) that the teacher was coming, and everyone would be sitting quietly like little angels when the teacher came back into the classroom. :)

I love how he questions how good the story is at the start but in the end it turns out to be one of the funniest stories told on the couch!!!

That moment when Ryan Gosling (a tall guy) looks like a dwarf near to Greg Davies, weird isn't it :P

Ryan Gosling isn't that tall though. He's maybe 6'1".

Ryan Gosling is a master of knowing the punchline. If you look at him, when Greg mentions the hearing impaired department, he knew this was going somewhere.

Leave it to Graham Norton to have the local flavor guest tell the funniest story during an evening of big Hollywood guests. Davies is brilliant. Graham is even more so. Love this show.
