Your best bet is when the Kokanee are staging for spawn close to shore in the fall.

You could also get some once the ice melts and until the water gets over 56 degrees

Love your channel. Took the leap and purchased a kayak and set it up using your advice. Caught my first two Kokanee over the Labor Day weekend. Question: is there a reference chart you recommend to for determining trolling depth based on weight, speed and line length?

So happy to hear that Jack! I use a basic rule for estimating depth that works for me. For every ounce at 1.5 mph with 100' of 10 lb monofilament out I am getting 10-15' of depth. 2 oz would 20-30'. 3 oz would be 40-60'. If you troll a little slows you will go deeper. Also remember that the inside rod will drop quite a bit on the turn as well so be careful if trolling shallow. Good luck on you kayak Kokanee adventures!

Hi spilt milt, really enjoy your videos and the info you give, I’m just getting into Kokenee fishing, what kind of Reels are you using with your rods?

In this video I am using the Daiwa Lexa 100 LC and the TICA Samira Kokanee reel. Both are ultra compact reels perfectly suited for these fisheries.
