Thanks for the compliments and welcome to the hobby. You'll find lots of folks on here and on the forums who are happy to answer questions and help you along.
Great videos Danny. Always glad to see your videos, especially with the narrating. Btw it looks like they should replace the switch at the spur and siding.
Thanks. I'm not sure which yard was the SSO&G. The yard just west of Magnolia Ave is still there, but only two or three tracks. The yard just to the north of there is the Fla Northern Yard. That's still in operation. DH
I only used the T3i on one video. These HDSLR's are not suited for one-man video use. They make great pictures, but are hard to focus and offer no good viewfinder option. I opted for a camcorder. The Canon XF100. It's at the high end of the Canon consumer line. Uses the same senor as the Canon XA10 and the Vixia high-end camcorders, but has professional features built on. I'm pretty happy with it, so far. DH
I always thought engines were run back-to-back so turning wouldn't be necessary at terminals. But CSX runs a lot of engine sets elephant-style, too. Don't know the reasons.
Don't know. Just noticed that when you commented. I'm guessing that was a bad order defect. I don't believe you're supposed to able to turn off ditch lights. Should have been flashing when he blew his horn.

I would love to learn how to read signals on Norfolk Southern and I really enjoyed your series on the CSX seaboard signals I would also like to learn how to read union to see if I can how to read Northeast corridor if you think you can do some work on that
Great job thank you, enjoyed it. My own HO layout is CSX in WVA Have been numerous times in the USA travelling along the CSX-lines. Will try some of your locations in 2015 Jan, Denmark, Europe
An oddity to me was the ditch light pattern on K-820. Usually, most trains have alternating ditch lights. this one had simultaneously-flashing ditch lights.
Great video Danny, I am new to railfanning and have videos of folkston on youtube. I love your videos and bought one from wistling dixie in Folkston. I am from virginia and made a few friends in Folkston while i was there working for two months. I have I haven't quite mastered the art of identifying trains but i am learning any tips would be appreciated. I have ATCS monitor and have joined ATCS monitor on facebook. love it.
hey danny sunrail announced on there new website that csx is going to reroute over 9 trains that run the A line to the S line so you may see more traffic running on the S line once sunrail starts operating
Nice video Danny!! Did you even notice that #556, the leader of K820, there was somthing wrong with the dicth light!! and nice catching the SD90/43MAC!!!
Nice video, Danny, TFS..... one question: is there a specific reason why the engines are hooked up the way they are? ( some nose to tail, some tail to tail etc )
Yesterday, 11/28/12 at 5:15pm, I saw a weird train going north at Vitas JCT. It looked like a GP40 pulling a buisness coach and a track inspection car. Have you ever caught a train like that? One day in Palmetto I watched a Westinghouse Shnabel car with a huge transformer makeing its way to (then) Ohio transformer on 301. They had a crew of men come out of a Westinghouse Caboose and walk along side the train as it crossed streets. Have you videoed one of those yet?
Hey danny. that was an excellent video with excellent narration. I just have one question. Why were both ditch lights flashing at 7:30? dont they usually alternate.
Hmm, Blackwater creek, here in NW Florida runs into the Yellow river which dumps into Escambia Bay. And here in NW Florida, Blackwater creek has foundations from the 1700's out to the Civil war, so I think ours has more of a claim to the name. It goes back to the beginnings of Pensacola, which is one of the oldest cities in the state. There, I went and gave history of our area up here. The Panhandle of Florida.
Ha! Well, I won't argue with you about "whose Blackwater Creek is better". There were settlers in your part of the state long before there were in mine. It just happened that our New York businessmen were a little better than your New York businessmen. :-)). I'm not sure what the rules are regarding naming of non-navigable waterways in Florida. There are two Lochloosa Creeks in Alachua County. Go figure.
Our Blackwater Creek in North Santa Rosa County used to have steamers going to the saw mills up there. We can see the remainders of the mills footprint on the ground. It's used mostly for canoeing and tubing out of the Blackwater State Park which has several very good rivers and creeks for doing just that. Coldwater creek doesn't get much over 4' deep, but for the most part it great tubing on it. And if you happen to go into the water, it lives up to it's name .... it's like ice. Pensacola is over 400 years old as it was first settled in 1559.
I wish I could give two thumbs up on this one. A railfan's delight but a car-driver's night mare!
Thanks for the compliments and welcome to the hobby.
You'll find lots of folks on here and on the forums who are happy to answer questions and help you along.
You sur are one of the best youtube railfanners
K820-22 passing me as I watch! Great update on the happenings down there and the trains. Thanks.
I liked the shot with Q652 and the way the bow wave effect was going on from the mat along side the rail.
Great video as always Danny, your narration makes it much better to watch so we who have never been down there get an idea of all that happens
My wife and I really enjoy watching your videos. The quality and narrating are right up there with Bentrax. :)
Wow Considering How Slow Q652 Was Going Over That Bridge, He Really Put The Pedal To The Medal In The Second Shot. Great Video Danny!
Thanks!
Yes, a lot of folks have commented on those synchronized ditch lights. First time I've seen something like that.
DH
Getting it done with the handheld, nice job. Cool seeing all the K trains down there, hope ya had a great Thanksgiving.
Another great video as always Danny! Your quality of video is why I had my mother Order your Jacksonville video as my Christmas present!!
I like the shot with CSX 556 and the car-alarm ditch lights instead of the alternating ones. Great video Danny!
I have a video of a GEVO with that problem.
Your videos are first class! please keep them coming.
Not sure if I've ever noticed an SD9043AC in any SE rail films. Great work as usual Danny. Thanks for your efforts.
Thanks very much. Yeah, you sure don't see those 9043's around here very much.
Another great video. Thanks for sharing you Florida railfanning adventures, Danny. I'm already looking forward to seeing the next one.
Many thanks. Yes, God rest his soul. Will miss Porter.
DH
Sure is great being present for running meets on the new double track, isn't it? Great video as always!
10:54 those things are pretty much impossible to find in 2023 on the UP
Great job Danny, unfortunately this time of year we don't get much daylight for a whole day to railfan.
Great video, Danny. Things were surely busy that day; I really wished I would head up. At least I got 452 down home.
Great stuff as always! You should offer a "tour" sometime of an area, like the tornado tours in the Midwest... I would pay! :)
Wow again! That's one of the nicest compliments I've gotten. Glad you enjoyed it.
Great videos Danny. Always glad to see your videos, especially with the narrating. Btw it looks like they should replace the switch at the spur and siding.
Normally I hate narration. But your narration, is absolutely AWESOME!!
Thanks.
I'm not sure which yard was the SSO&G. The yard just west of Magnolia Ave is still there, but only two or three tracks. The yard just to the north of there is the Fla Northern Yard. That's still in operation.
DH
Yeah, that track inspection train was in Tampa on the Port Tampa Spur yesterday morning. I guess they went back north in the afternoon.
That light looked strange and cool at the same time!!!
Excellent work and narration. Realy enjoyed having site names for future reference.
EDanny, always enjoy your videos and bought 2 of your DVD's at Whistl'n Dixie in Folkston, Ga.
Wow! Did not know that was to a single manufacturer. Thought it was some distribution center. Thanks for the info.
The 7512 is a GE Dash-8 engine with a "conventional cab". Some call it a Spartan Cab. I call it a standard cab. Versus a widebody.
Many thanks!

fun fact: a train can still run if its headlight is out and it still has ditch lights.
Another professionally done video
I always thought engines were run back-to-back so turning wouldn't be necessary at terminals. But CSX runs a lot of engine sets elephant-style, too. Don't know the reasons.
I use "Winston, FL" as a place name, even though it's actually Winston, Yard. Railroad does the same thing on train profiles.
Another ripper Danny!
Don't know. Just noticed that when you commented. I'm guessing that was a bad order defect. I don't believe you're supposed to able to turn off ditch lights.
Should have been flashing when he blew his horn.
Very nice Danny! I always look forward to your videos!
Awesome Catches! That's alot of unit trains you caught in a single day.
I do enjoy watching your videos

I've never seen ditch lights flashing at the same time on a GE at 7:23. They are usually on the ACes.
I Saw Ditchlights On A Dash 8 Widecab A Few Months ago
I wondered the same thing. Never seen that before.
Lead engine 556! Yup, thats him. How ironic! Tuesday,(11-27) 06:30.
Thanks for the heads up Danny. ;)
I saw 7906 on Q453 in Folkston just a few days before hand. Nice video.
great video danny! love the standered cab dash-8 at 3:14!
I just saw that engine today on the BNSF Chillicothe Sub in Illinois.. Ditchlights still working like this
Thanks. That's what I do for a living.
Don't know. Never seen ditch lights flashing together like that before.
Double track segment Ridge Manor, Rerdell, and St. Catherine. Rerdell is the double crossovers.
I would love to learn how to read signals on Norfolk Southern and I really enjoyed your series on the CSX seaboard signals I would also like to learn how to read union to see if I can how to read Northeast corridor if you think you can do some work on that

Jan Nielsen Thanks very much Jan.

Hope you make it to tallahassee again!!! The sunday of the last weekend we had a 3 train meet in Tallahassee. I recently caught Q179, Q208 then Q605!
7:24 I've never seen simultaneous flashing ditch lights on a loco before. Limited edition ditch lights lolz.
Muy impresionante. Muy buen vídeo. Gracias
Bienvenidos!
Great Video Danny!
Such a beautiful depot in Ocala. Hope Amtrak returns to this line someday.
I enjoyed very much Thank you
Great Job! Enjoyed.

In cumberland the day after thanksgiving I saw at least 5 trains in an hour at my grandma's house.

Nice video, Danny, TFS..... one question: is there a specific reason why the engines are hooked up the way they are? ( some nose to tail, some tail to tail etc )
Used to swim in blackwater creek as a kid
Good stuff!

In the middle of the video how come the ac4000cw's ditch lights both were flashing at the same time?
+Shawn Durfee Don't know. First and only time I've ever seen that.
+Distant Signal I've seen it on an ES44AC before and a few of the ACes also have that problem.
Another great video Danny. Thanks for subscribing to my channel, will be working on new videos soon.
Question, when you mentioned 'Winston Florida', where you referring to Winston Yard in Lakeland or something else?
Great video by the way!
Yeah, a couple SD70AC's and SD70ACe's are wired that way, too.
Hey danny. that was an excellent video with excellent narration. I just have one question. Why were both ditch lights flashing at 7:30? dont they usually alternate.
I think you can see the bridge bending in the close up at 5:59
L-228 headed for the Honda Plant in Marysville.
whats with the ditch lights at 7:41 they're not alternating just solid strobing

Great video. What brand and model of camera do you use? I am looking for a replacement of my old DV model.
why does csx run alot of trains with geeps and sd's still, also nice video
Awsome man.
Why at 7:37 does this diesel have wierd ditch lights?
7:33 what the hell is wrong with those ditch lights xD
Ya what is wrong with it
xFleax I've seen a few of the old Amtrak P32s with the ditch light flashing like that.
He has his hazards on but there’s no siding to stop in.
wow! The mighty booze train! ...but empty, alas! Did they drink it or do they add it to gasoline?
What is wrong with 30 mph? Sounds good enough for me.
