    Loved this! Thank you for taking the time to distill these observations and risking the potential backlash for providing a limited insight. I relate so much to the South African aspect of your observations, especially on staffing - and this is coming from a 5th year trainee in the Free State so your observations certainly ring true and have merit.
    I appreciate you and your content Ntwanano.

    Talking about the pressure, I can never sleep when there is a monetary difference that I can’t figure out. My mind will be working even when am asleep, dreaming about it.

    Hi Ntwanano, on the staffing issues point; Do you feel like that's because firms do not wanna hire enough trainees so there's more people of course taking costs etc into account or because not enough people qualify for employment like that? Because I'm thinking it might be more a firm culture thing in that they say teams will be this size and jot taking into account the amount of work that will need to be done and the number of employees that would be adequate so if teams are a specific size there's no more in depth client and work basis and analysis that is done to actually determine whether more assistance would be needed which then results in the team having to put in more work or other people being brought in later on in the audit...

      I think firms hire a lot, the issue is they struggle to retain talent.. every year audit firms hire new graduates as trainees, hire newly qualifieds, experienced manager etc but within a year or two they leave the firm. If you pay attention youll realise more people resign than new hires.

    @Ntwanie What is the standard time for you to stay at your audit firm, to cover your sponsorship of helping you go over?
    How many years do you have to stay in audit?
    Will you eventually move over into advisory or industry?

    • @NtwanieNgomane
      @NtwanieNgomane  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      External or internal? If internal, thats easier, you can apply for internal audit roles, external youd probably need to go with one of the audit firms, doesnt have to be the big 4 but essentially youll need to be working towards the Ca designation in an articles environment to be able to be exposes to external audit

    Hi Ntwanie
    Would you say the environment is a bit more relaxed in the Uk due to the fact that you not in one of the big 4 firms and in SA you were in a big 4 firm?
    Could the relaxed environment also be attributed to the size of the firm and clients that you have, e.g. listed or not,?

    Hi
    Regarding work-life balance:
    Do you still work overtime and weekends on the non busy months (May - December) in Audit.
    If the non busy months are fine then can one not plan their lives around busy season, I.e no major plans during the 3 or 4 months of busy season
    With experience would one become efficient and learn to handle things better?

    • @NtwanieNgomane
      @NtwanieNgomane  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hey.. currently no. I didnt even work overtime during busy season(maybe that was because i was still on boarding).
      Yes you definitely can plan your life around it but you cant plan emergencies that occur during that time.
