Thank you so much for your synopsis of these books by my favorite botanical artist! I've been undecided about diving into learning botanical illustration in watercolour. Having seen your VERY informative reviews of her books, paint selections, etc., I feel I'm ready to give it a go! Thank you again. Please keep up the good work. Happy painting!🎨🎨🎨😃😃

Thank you Pam so much for your comment! It makes me very happy when my videos inspire creativity!! Last year I got introduced to botanical art by my friend who entered a big competition which then turned into a large exhibition in London. Her work is stunning and I loved it but thought that botanical art in general is super intimidating to do yourself and that you have to have the certain talent for it.
But I couldn't even imagine that you could still create a beautiful and frame worthy botanical painting with no previous experience in botanical art just but trying to follow the artist's tips and tricks. Especially if you like the attention to detail you will enjoy the process.
My first ever botanical painting is the artichoke by Billy Showell and although there were mistakes I made I still love it and it's been framed and hung in my kitchen where every time I look at it it gives me joy! :) The sense of satisfaction and achievement that botanical art gives you at the end of the process is quite remarkable :)

A very nice review of Billy Showell's four books. I'm looking forward to part 2. And, a big congrats for reaching 1K subscribers. I'm surprised it took so long, because your videos are so well done. I'm sure it will soon be 2K.

Hello, Alyona! Thank you for all the time and effort in filming and publishing the videos!
I found your videos specifically on Sennelier paints (which are my favorite), I have followed you since!
I really like your personal style, soft voice and artistic touch!
I am glad you have taken the time to flip through the Billy Showell books...
I am now also proud owner of 2 of her books, mainly because Sennelier Paint is featured!
You have incorporated fun ways of using the colored swatches in your journal.....really great creative touch!
Micron archival ink pens are doing a fab job in outlining and this way I avoid inky mess!
My fav. nib in my fountain pen is an Italic size M and so stabilizes my script!

There are quite a few to choose from on Amazon but I find that Billy's books are not only great to look at and display on your coffee table but also great to learn from :)

Hard to say really, each book is great in its own way. I have a review for each of them, not sure if you have watched them all, but it might help you to choose. The latest one is a beautiful format and it's a hardback so doubles as a coffee table display book. And also has a good mix of everything in there. Hope this helps :)
