that should be the Norm. Not like the NXZT H1 Disaster. Fractal has former Experience with the Torrent and the faulty Fan Hub, Quick Reaction inclusive.
@@rainerbehrendt9330 Yeah i agree,. it should be, but sadly its not . a lot of half baked products make it out and companies dont give a crap - usually.
Hell yes. Fractal is a real gem in the industry. People often say not to be brand-loyal, but Fractal's positive behavior over the last decade is really making me want to be.
Refreshing to hear about constructive, productive communication between a review outlet and a manufacturer, both with the best interests of the consumer in mind. Thank you for looking out for all of us!
Couldn't agree more with all the drama currently in the tech review space I can think of a few tech creators who could learn a lot from how Kit Guru go about buisness. You don't have to burn everything down to make things better.
Well this is great news, I always liked Fractal products and thought they were generally pretty high quality. The fact they listened to Kitguru and took samples off the production line and then decided to retool them (or whatever) is a credit to the company, They rose again in my estimations.
Fractal is an excellent company. Whenever I have contacted their support team they have been amazingly helpful. I have been wondering when their next case might come, intrigued to see it!
It's always a really good test to see what the support level of a company is like before you buy. Just found out that lesson the hard way from a different company.
I love this kind of review. Instead of trying to do a sensationalist gotcha moment you guys worked with the manufacturer to come to a solution that helps everyone.
I like to hear some positive stories from time to time, the tech world is just so damn negative now and full of creators fighting and companies just releasing crap.
Bravo James! You saved so many customers from dealing with this issue. It's great Fractal is pulling the case and working to make things right before customers could be impacted.
Fractal used to be overally top notch company: good products; service and reacting to faults well. But honestly with the cases they reached the peak with Define 7/Meshify 2 and since then never made something better or at least as good. Probably selling good cases isn't profitable due to high cost and minority of customers noticing their superiorities. I bet this was another example of what I said before. I would love to see e.g. next perfect Define with dual chamber, bottom-top airflow and sound-dampened sides, bottom and top. And then such Meshify. Not an affordable RGB case we already have enough to choose from.
What? They've released Torrent and North since then, both of which have been consistently at or near the top in everyone's tests (including beating Meshify 2)
@@skuckon Torrent compared to Meshify 2 is less convenient, mechanically worse case with more airflow nobody, but 500W+ pc owners need and see benefit from. And I doubt this airflow would be better than Meshify 2 with added two good exhaust fans on top. Plus cases are not only about airflow you seem considering as something at least most important. North is mechanically closer to budget cases and awful downgrade compared to Meshify 2. More budget case for more premium money, but I guess some people value more looking at wooden panel.
That is going to be a fairly expensive hit for Fractal. They are going to have to retool for that back piece of the case to be stamped correctly. As an engineer with experience in tool and dye manufacturing I can tell you that is a manufacturers worst nightmare. You are correct that most manufacturers would just ship it, rather than retool.
It's great to hear about a company that cares about providing a quality product for their customers and listens to the feedback from the reviewers of their products.
Expensive mistake on Fractal's QA, but better to pull the launch than the nightmare of handling all affected cases individually through end-user support.
Thanks Kitguru - your devotion to ethics and helping has saved a lot of people from buying a flawed chassis design and Fractal from an RMA nightmare because of it.
Great job - both you and Fractal. Fractal have form here: remember how excellently they handled the Torrent fan hub issue. Then there are other companies who have not handled issues so well.
Playing devils advocate you could argue they should never have sent these out without checking first, but I guess it might have been a hard one to replicate by just looking at the case without someone inside Fractal lifting random samples to take to base, then build a complete system inside. At least they didnt just ignore the feedback and release - and they took steps - do they know you are posting this?
Awesome for the quick action of fractal. It is a win for the manufacturer, win for the Reviewers and most of all a win for the consumer. Hope all manufacturers follow this dynamic with reviewers.
Sadly it rarely happens which is why we wanted to bring it up. I know a lot of tech reporting is negative, but its nice to be able to report something positive as well.
Yes, very happy to hear fractal are the kind of company I hoped they were, I have had 3 of their cases now over the years and would happily buy them again, I hope you get a new version soon to check
Well, that no doubt made you feel good about your role in consumer product quality testing. You are right about Fractal...they made a mistake for sure and should have done this testing themselves first...however they did the right thing painful though it may be and should be commended for that. I would be interested in where all this went wrong for the case; was it the initial design or, as they stated, in the global manufacture standards being an issue. I have used Fractal cases before in making builds for customers and I have always found the cases to be of a high standard.
Fractal really is one of the most respectable brands out there. They have made the tough decisions when they need to when an issue happens. I still really like my Torrent Compact when I run air cooling. Thumbs up!
I like fractal. I had a define r4 and the audio header had the mic and headphone case panel jacks switched. I reported this to their customer service. I got an email 1/2 later asking for my address. 3 days later I had a new panel. I wasn’t required to send the old one back.
This is a typically excellent response from Fractal. There never seems to be an indication that they want to blame others when their products fall short. Thank you James for your work on our behalf. I quite like the pixelated case design, might be an idea for a Minecraft build ;-)
Not a massive waste of time at all. bravo KG and well done Fractal for admitting the cock up and taking steps to fix the product before they ended up dealing with unhappy customers
I thought they asked you to do this, but I saw your comment they didn't so they werent even chasing positive PR either for doing this - which makes it even more valuable to me. not controlled
Good response from Fractal. Oh, that case looks like a tower-style case. A competitor to the Antec Flux (Pro) perhaps? Anyway, even if they re-release the case, it will certainly postpone the launch for several months.

I think a company like this should have staff who go in, lift a few of the line and actually. build into them. This is how this would have been caught, but its still good how they acted
Great testing methodology, I trust you guys 100% not many tech chanells I do - you have given me so much good buying advice in the last 5 years wish I had found you earlier

I've got a 2nd system in my old 2017 define mini C (plastic window) . I am still pleasantly surprised by the built quality every time i have to open it up and clean it.
