I was a Christian for 14 years and didn't understand what mourning of sins was and repenting until now. I just felt sorry for myself regarding sins. Now I understand what salvation means. Great message Pastor Colin Smith

Great, great teaching. Totally explains my pondering on why the church has so little desire for more of Christ.

I have been studying and praying for the virtues in the Beatitudes for over a 1 1/2. I have been led by the Spirit to listen to these lessons, and they are being such a blessing to me. At church I attended a class on the Beatitudes, but the teacher saud we could never live them. However, the Spirit led me to pray for them and study them The more I studied and prayed the hungrier for them I became. What a blessing! Hearing these truths have make me weep in thansgiving.

What wonderful truth to take to heart every day! Without true humility, godly sorrow and mourning for sin cannot take hold of saving faith and repentance, both pure graces needed to cling to Christ daily.
Thank you for such sermons as this one!

I love these lessons. I have shared many of them since the Spirit led me to listen to Colin Smith yesterday. So many churches have denominational inbreeding. They never listen to anyone outside of their own box ,and so they avoid being challenged and thus become a dying branch of the vine. This grieves me.

Your teachings are always a blessing to me. This sermon is filled with many lessons for me. You helped me see that I cannot continue to mourn over the many losses I have experienced in the last 2 years. He gives and takes away, blessed be the Lord. I pray I am following His will and I cannot have mourning in my heart for what I do not have. Thank you.

    Dear Pastor,
Beautiful and heartfelt sermon. Yet the view that “natural mourning” comes naturally doesn’t ring true to me, especially when the loss is overwhelming and/or strikes early in life. The more natural response, I believe, is either denial or bitterness.
These are the scars (“proud flesh”) on our personalities that CS Lewis deals with in “The Great Divorce”. These extinguish the gifts of forgiveness/ gratitude.

Everyone believes in something or someone, and they express their belief in how they live. Faith will always be seen in the actions of the one who has it. A Christian living by faith will experience a real relationship with the Lord. Without that relationship faith is inactive. The true Believer knows there is a God because there is good and evil. All of creation proves it. Man will either pursue to know God or not, but he will still pursue and live for whatever he does believe. What ever you believe will be expressed by your actions.

Romans 8:22,23 the whole creation groans, and travails in pain until now,) and also the christians in Christ. . .BLESSED ARE THEY THAT MOURN BECAUSE THEY SHALL BE COMFORTED - MT.5:4 - THE CHRISTIAN GOES THRU THE SAME TRIALS AS THE NON CHRISTIAN. COMMON TO MAN TYPE SUFFERINGS, IN ORDER TO BE MADE COMPLETE IN LOVE. TO BE SYMPATHETIC WITH THEIR NEIGHBORS. 1 PET. 2:5,9/GAL.3:29/REV.5:9,10 THE SPIRITUAL SEED OF ABRAHAM ACCORDING TO PROMISE WILL BLESS ALL THE NATIONS OF EARTH. MUCH EASIER TO DO SO, BY HAVING GONE THRU THE SAME PROBLEMS IN LIFE. HAVING MOURNED, TO LATER BE COMFORTED IN SALVATION. AND THE WORLD COMFORTED DURING JUDGMENT DAY TO HAVE 144,000 EXPERIENCED KINGS, AND PRIESTS *SERVING THEM IN HUMILITY, AND IN LOVE.

21:15... I was good until that point. First grace isn’t cheap, it cost Jesus His life, brutally I may add. Second by saying we can add or detract from that sacrifice by doing something like forsaking a sin diminishes that sacrifice. Lastly you are saved through faith, not forsaking. You’re either 100% forgiven or you are 100% not. There is no in between. Paul struggled with a sin and Jesus said I’m not removing that temptation, My Grace is sufficient. Paul said it was not removed less he boast. You can’t add to the cross.

Go back and listen again. He is saying that he was taught the things you mentioned, such as a form of cheap grace, as a teenager. He is not advocating that now.
