I find it interesting that Kaeya has the most "loyal" fans among 4*, because they would vote for him even when 5* characters are available in the poll. However, he only lowered in positions when all those who had initially voted for a 5* character were forced to chose a 4* character... Which means that the characters who beat Kaeya in the 4* exclusive poll are actually other people's second choices, since they couldn't vote for their "true" favorite characters. On the other hand, Kazuha was quite solid. He got 2nd place in the overall poll, and he got 1st place on the 5* poll, which means that when those who originally voted for a 4* were forced to choose a 5*, many of them voted for Kazuha.
i wouldnt say wanderer winning top character is really a recency bias thing cause if you go to like any poll where he is pitted against any other character even from different franchises (like there has been a series of polls by polygon going down on twitter last couple days) the fans come and vote for him and this has been going on even before he was released. i think he just has a big/dedicated/both fandom tbh but i can see how some votes did come from recency bias as the playerbase was foaming at the mouth over having a character that could fly and for a decently long period and pretty quickly if u wanted too.

amazing thank you, this is fascinating when compared with "sales number" of each banner, for example here medium female aren't really popular, yet characters like hu tao have a record banner in terms of revenue, same for Nahida (which is the least popular type). So I guess the most implicated people of the fanbase don't represent the whole fan base in general

idk if youre still reading comments but have you tried messaging the mods on the genshin subreddit directly to see if you can make a new post that they can approve for you? from what i've seen videos (specifically externally hosted videos) don't tend to do so well on there either; ive never posted on reddit so idk how itd work, but posting the main ranking as screenshots or as a text post and then linking (or embeding) the video in the text or a comment might be better than directly posting the video itself? i really think a lot of people would be interested in this, so it'd be a shame if the subreddit(s) surveyed never got to see the results! at any rate, very cool info, very cool findings! i agree w the comment that scara is probably less influenced by recency bias than you'd think, it's probably did boost him a little but hes also just popular: he has the most liked drip marketing by a landslide, and constantly trended on twt during livestreams regardless of whether or not he appeared or had any relevance.

It would be interesting to point out the proportion of votes more often instead of only saying the winners/order. Not necessarily the actual ratio (unless it's something outstanding like the character gender breakdown by redditor gender), but if it's a close call or a landslide. For example, the favorite character votes aggregated by element have a more even distribution than the favorite element result. Favorite enemies even have some clusters of popularity!
the reason i didn't mention proportions all the time is...I was worried about this video being too long and deterring people from watching. So I tried cutting time whenever I could--I initially wanted to make a 20 minute video, but overshot. There was still a lot more content in my analytics I didn't get to include...but I wanted to include at least everything I included in this video! But yeah, some of it I def could've gone more in-depth into. Maybe I'll make additional posts? Not sure yet.

I knew Wanderer was popular, but I didn't expect him to take first like that! And nice to see so many people believe in Anemo supremacy, although less so in Anemo Archon supremacy. I also thought Dendro would be more popular given that it's new and has complex and powerful reactions.

When you do this survey again, maybe you should either stay away from the race question or make it more comprehensive, because the US "official" classification is very limited (and honestly, a bit racist). Like, what does "Hispanic" mean? You can be white Hispanic, or black Hispanic, or amerindian Hispanic, or even black-amerindian Hispanic. It's a culture, not a race. Same as Asian. It's a denonym. A Russian person, a Lebanese person, a Vietnamese person, a Bangladeshi person are all Asian, and their experiences and perspectives cannot be grouped under one ethnicity. So it might be more interesting to do it by nationality or region, otherwise you'd have to go into the most extensive classification you can make to include race, ethnicity and nationality.
Yeah I agree it should've been more granular. The problem if it's too granular by having like too many options like including every single nationality...it might deter people from answering the question--because some people get intimidated by large dropdown menus! Or it might be too specific for people to be comfortable answering. But yeah, definitely a question I would approach differently in the future.

About the favourite region statistic: people ALWAYS vote for the most recent - I've seen this in surveys in another game I play where they rank weapons looks. The newest one almost always wins. That statistic is pretty much useless, imho.

I think the amount of time it takes to go from level 54 to 55 is the amount of time it takes to go from 1 to 47 combined haha It gets really slow towards the end to get like 1 acquaint fate haha
