This came out such a convenient time for me!! I've always watch all of your videos on this channel as well as those of some other designers but just recently started watching Mayuko's and Jarvis'!! I'm a double major in comp sci and design so I wanna try to do both! Thanks for the vid:)

Super video. So much of this is true across the board in other fields as well. Coming from the Semiconductor world, there are many different kinds of engineers that touch a product through its lifecycle-- "throwing anything over the wall" is never ever a good thing no matter the profession--- even if you're both engineers. Cheers to this!!! Loving your channel Charli!

I’m so happy to hear that Ahmed! Sounds like more/better communication is needed in those roles too then!

👍🏽 - those of us [designers] who have been in 1 or more awkward situations with engineering where empathy & patience during a project would've saved the day (sped up the build process), but instead fear, frustration & misunderstanding were the outcome.

Really great and important convo to have. I'm a designer and I can remember the "Over the Wall" days--I've always thought that engineers and designers operate from different sides of the brain, so it's great for us to hear that there is massive overlap in how we can produce an efficient design. Also, designers and engineers can be arrogant assholes in their own special ways ;) so dialogue-ing early is so important so that we can feel we have each other's backs.

I want to be a UX designer because of that. Currently busy with my minor in programming. I suggest everybody look into the opposite field, makes it way easier to communicate.

to become a UX Designer, you have to earn a design degree (in graphics or Industrial/Product)

One of the problems I had with the developer in a company I worked at was sending the designs' assets and details to the programmer and I would love to know what apps/services we should use to ease this task. Thanks for the video.

I study a software engineer program that has a few courses in interactiondesign, and one of the specializations is in design and human-computer interaction. It sounds like I'll find some of the courses helpful in my career. (I'll probably go for a specialization in software engineering or computer security).
