Great video! Really enjoyed this one. As I mentioned in my livestream I did about this topic, I was so confused by people criticising his collection as "not being true to the house" when he literally recreated looks from the archive that cohesively fit in with the aesthetic of what he designs. I think the problem was that there was 0% innovation, no risk taking and the whole thing seemed to fall flat. This is something I respect about Sebastien Meunier - he found ways of referencing the house while creating clothing that looked completely different to what Ann made herself. I do like Ludovic's design language in it's own right and I personally think he would've maybe worked for Ann D long term but we will never know because they literally only gave him one season. Such a shame.

It is true! it was super similar to Ann D that it made me question what was his role for this debut then? because for rhe 2021 &2022 reser collection under Claudio x Ghost designers, the collection was already borrowed from the books. Are we doing another borrowed theme again? I think why it semi failed is we were all anticipating a goooodddd “surprise me what the hell was that” kind of collection which we really didnt see. I saw de Ann Demeulemeester clothes in real at the Antwerp shop. It was 08/2023. In real they look absolutely superb. The fabrics and cut are absolutely high-end. Staff is very friendly. You really have to see and touch the clothes to understand the high quality. Absolutely superb.
it’s the experience I suppose and thatbis priceless! I love the second floor where you get to see the boots and accessories. Carmine, the guy who works there is so lovely!❤
Excellent input .. I only bought decades ago a Ann D pendant of a scull on endless leather ribbons .. I wore it until the leather atomized lol still have the scull tho And I think as well LSS isn’t still in the maturity level Ann was at his age. Taking over a house is always hit or miss .. in Valentinos case pier Paolo does an excellent job in modernizing the Valentino esthetic. It didn’t hurt he works beside the main designer for a few years. And OMG can you look anymore stunning ..

Ludovic also designed under rick Owen’s fun fact and worked a lot with TYRONE a tonnnnnnn for 4 years actually and a lot of ppl dont give ludovic his flowers at rick he designed our most fave designs there
now it makes sense why they are somewhat close Tyrone and Ludovic. So sorry. I wish I have researched more and more. Gave me an idea on what to do for my next video though. Thank you. May I know what Rick season Tyrone worked for RO?

I would be more open minded for it but all of my personal LDSS brand items are extremely cheap looking with very poor quality details and hemming, construction and cuts wonky and LDSS is not cheap either. The clothes wear decently well enough but for Ann Dem house code I honestly understand why people would be wary.
Her formative years and experience in Margiela and her stint at Vetements and Brioni are impressive. I shouldve mentioned it in the video. Thanks for pointing it out. I actually love her Ann Dem story. Definitely have a more teeth compared to LDS ‘s story.
Ludovic's clothes for AD men are way too feminine. impossible to wear if you do not have a perfect body. All open in the front or transparent. I am rather happy he is gone.
