As a freelance filmmaker/film editor, every year or so I find myself trying odd jobs (fitness associate, working in a warehouse, etc.) for the same exact reason of not only having extra income but just to switch up my environment and try something new. Being a creative full time is fulfilling, but exhausting. Not making art my full income allowed me be more selective and pursue projects based on passion vs. desperation.

TLDL: I enjoy part time creating over full-time. Full-time "influencing" requires the delusion to assume people actually care about knowing my every move. (I don't even care about my every move LOL.) I will continue to pop on both channels when I have a storytime, experience to share or something educational. I genuinely cannot bring myself to make errand lists, record myself crying trying to be "raw" and relatable or showing my bedroom doing tours. It's weird LOL.
Also I'm forcing myself to attend community college classes in person starting in summer!! I have time for a part time job or I can do one or the other.

i don't think glamorizing the struggle is going to fix the issue - i just think you need to find purpose elsewhere. having a job isn't fun! i think you could find purpose in school, volunteering, classes and learning new hobbies, going to different types of social events etc. but wishing you well either way :)

It’s silly to undermine service people, blue collar, stay at home moms etc and assume they don’t matter. whatever you feel like you need at this point in time - give yourself that. who cares how others define success or whether they think it’s a “downgrade” or anything along the lines of “why would you do that”. it’s your life. i think it’s inevitable that you’re feeling this way about being a full-time influencer as someone who always reflects on her experiences and learns from them. i really do believe that you’ve got a lot more to offer to the world than what social media would ever allow you to do

I get it. Purpose, discipline, and structure are really fulfilling. I’m currently on the opposite side of the fence. I do hair twice a week in nursing homes and senior communities (outside of my own salon suite) but I have this urge to really create content to share my knowledge and make money on my own terms. Not religious anymore, but when I used to go to church I volunteered as a Sunday school "teacher" aka daycare for the 3-4 year olds. Just a once a week commitment for just a few hours and it could offer good opportunity to find aligned friends/community. Or volunteer work with special needs, or maybe work at a flower shop/planet nursery. Since money isn't an object, definitely lean toward something that will bring you fulfillment/peace♡

Just the idea of not having to commute, having more time to just exist, etc. Picked up enjoyable hobbies. But it got old after a few months. Coming back to seeing the students face to face, there was nothing like it. I realized for myself that I need that personal, human interaction. I needed that feeling of doing something rewarding. You are doing something incredible, but gosh, how lonely when your entire job is virtual. We are all completely unique, but deep down, I think we all need to feel that human connection with others. Truly wishing you all the best!

I know its an unpopular in todays time since the new wave is to become a boss business owner or influencer/content creator of some sort. But I dont mind working a 9-5 in a corporate world doing a job I love. Content creating has become.... something. It is surely not for everyone. I would enjoy it part time, but things are getting weird. Since 2020, all I want is to live my best peaceful life adjusting to this new age or normalcy we are in now. let's break this down. $4000 for a 1 to 2 minute spot. that spot brings brand awareness and customers to said brand. said brand makes sales and a profit. which is good because said brand has employees to pay (employees feeding their families). said brand might ship items, so now the economy at large is benefitting (truckers, warehouses, packaging manufacturers). said brand pays taxes which goes into public services.
influencers need to get over their imposter syndrome. it's important work and those who think it's silly don't understand economics.

(I’m not a career women either, which is why I chose a job from home with my own schedule) I always think about the times where I was never on the phone and I was going to school, always with friends. Now I go online because I’m so bored all the time and it’s so unfulfilling. I want to be busy with work and friends and forget the phone again!!! It’s funny because I just applied to Panera 5 days ago and I am SOOOO excited to work a part time job too
Im going to quite this job where I’m sitting at home, work part time at Panera and go to school for a career. I want a job with people, stress, goals etc. I want to be excited again!!

I've loved your channel since I found it a year ago!! I do see your point - having a job does give some type of structure and a different purpose outside of ourselves, a feeling like we are contributing to a community.
You will have a unique perspective going back into the job force, and you may very well treat it like a hobby you get paid for! Which is a dream in and of itself :) You don't need to work a 9-5, you *want* to. Cheers Kelly!

That’s a great way to look at it. It’s the same reason why I wish all influencers would work a serving job or have some type of responsibility before living the lavish life. I feel like I’m the only one without rich parents backing them up. Being in the service industry showed me that most of humanity sucks, but you can draw inspiration from it lol. If I was an actress, I would see it as method acting.

The accomplishments we have die with us. Work isn't the way to achieve the goal. It is the goal. You just need to find what it is you'd rather be doing, and do that. And for me that was giving up making other people money and watching my own kids. I"ll get back to "work" when they're older. Love this Kelly! I hope you find something cool!

I have so many thoughts... I understand where you're coming from but also I think you've definitely squandered away the good that your influencing job has brought you. You could've created something more- a business, a podcast, a more produced skit channel, a book, music, art, ANYTHING with that free time. You could've become a pilot! People love watching pilots on TikTok now. You could've purchased a house and started renovating it for content! Or done more travel stuff... IDK the possibilities are literally endless.
I'm sorry but the jealousy in me is leaping out as I'm sitting here, listening to you wanting a job while working my full-time job that I don't like but am still grateful to have an easy remote job. (Also 4k for one sponsor......... kms. Almost twice my month's salary.) I'm trying to build up my own channels on top of learning programming so I can get a better full-time position, but listening to this rant made me a bit irked lol. Love you, hope you find what fulfills you since I agree that I don't think influencing is 100% fulfilling. Just wish I were in your shoes of being able to chaotically make your life harder lol.
