Thanks for sharing the passion for bonsai
Greetings from South West Missouri. I am still fairly new to Bonsia and have been enjoying it immensely. I am so excited about airlayering and have been trying my hand over at my Mother's place in order to get a start of certain things in her yard. She is 98 and in a nursing home she is doing well. I never really cared about her collection while growing up. But now it's different the Airlayers that I started (failed) they had heavy callouses at top no roots. I am depressed with this result as I am maybe trying too hard. I watched the videos and read all I can. I have always grown plants /roses etc
That mother plant you showed at the start of the video is a good example of how long it takes for these maples to thicken up.
Thanks for all the tips!
Time is of the essence
Loving the amount you're posting at the moment David. Its clear you've got a lot of very interesting trees and techniques to share with us. Keep em coming!
Thanks Toby I'll try to do as many as possible!
Another instructive video. You have given me a new/better way to plant air-layers. Love the box idea for larger/taller air-layers. Keep them coming my friend !

Good day David, thank you for once again a great video. I was wondering if you could clarify whether or not you remove the cambium when making an airlayer. Thanks for the great content!

@@BonsaiSociety Iranian living in New York. Hope to visit your nursery one day.
@@deineath very nice I noticed there is a growing community of bonsai adepts from Iran! I don't have a nursery per se. It's more a private collection but we can always arrange something
@@BonsaiSociety Ah, I see. I'd love to. And you're absolutely right. I'm seeing more and more content from there, specially after the pandemic.
Thanks for the wonderful teaching! If you lift the tree a bit, how do you know that you arent leaving a pocket of air directly under the trunk? I didnt know there was different kinds of hormone powder! I will have to research what the difference between them is! Thanks again :)
The nebari on the tree is magnificent 😍
Did you say what process you used to develop such lovely roots? Was it just years of diligently repotting and pruning the roots?
Thank you for sharing
When Is the best time to start the air layer, what seaso ? And how long it should take?

Hi David, thank you very much for the knowledge you are sharing. I'm wondering, where do you get your bonsai training pots? I can't seem to find any appropriately priced in the US.

Super
Are the roots enough to support such a big canopy? I understand that it is late in the season and it needs to come off but is this a bit risky?
I have to mist the foliage often to reduce the stress.
@@BonsaiSociety I see, thanks for replying
How can you tell a Shin Deshojo Japanese maple from others similar types?
I can’t seem to find seradix rooting powder for sale. Im in Washington USA. I see hormex for sale on Amazon but it says not for delivery at my location… any advice?
Good work sir.
Sir, Can we do airlayer in pine trees. If you have any idea please give me a solution. Thank you
Yes pine tress can be layered but it takes from 2 to 10 years depending on trunk thickness before they form enough roots
