    This video shows you, how to remove the huge „dead zone“ around the center position of the steering of this 1:28 4WD Wltoys K989 Ford Fiesta rally car.
    I discovered this issue, after I realized, that my "Micro RC" system offers a much better steering accuracy...
    How can we fix this problem? Well, we have to replace the entire electronics, except of the steering servo and the motor!
    In order to have access to the motor wires, I have to disassemble the entire drivetrain. The differentials are also disassembled, cleaned, and greased with silicone grease.
    Of course I’m using my 2.4GHz Arduino „Micro RC“ remote control system. The ESC is a 10 brushed type from Banggood.

    And yes: Idiot drivers always have a lot to repair. At least, if they do a race with worn tires and finally produce a huge crash!

      you don't expect such a little car going so fast can it go even faster?

    • @TheDIYGuy999
      @TheDIYGuy999  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, I guess it could be even faster, if I would change the gear ratio... But the problem of such small cars is, that they need a very smooth surface to run

      Would adding extra weight help, as in if your engine is quick perhaps youd get more traction

    What surprises me about wltoys is that they make METAL micro rc cars. 4WD., LIPO powered veichles RTR for under 60 bucks yet kyosho makes AAA powered 2wd cars for over 100 dollars, wth?

      You can also use a remote like this for the conversion: www.banggood.com/New-Version-AUSTAR-AX5-3CH-2_4G-Transmitter-With-Receiver-For-RC-Car-p-1046802.html?rmmds=search

      Then try it. Programming the Arduino is relatively easy. Have a look at my other videos and on the transmitter manual on my GitHub for more details.

      hmm, might bounce a bit, so perhaps stick it to a sponge, then the sponge onto the car body ... double sided sticky tape perhaps.
      Anyway, if youre up for that - that would be fun. Have a good summer, all the best

    hi can you provide a tutorial how to make the transmitter and receiver(step by step using common pro micros) and is it the potentiometer with the deadzone or is it the circuit adding the deadzone

    • @TheDIYGuy999
      @TheDIYGuy999  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Receiver: th-cam.com/video/yzYWgpmcsE4/w-d-xo.html
      Transmitter: th-cam.com/video/HNjLZuy2b2A/w-d-xo.html
      The videos above are not step by step, but with the help of the schematics on GitHub, it should be a piece of cake to wire everything up.
      According to my measurements on the Wltoys transmitter, the dead zone is added by the circuit. So the transmitter could be used as a base for the "Micro RC" conversion.

    Older video I know. But I changed my esc to the same as yours but 1 big problem I had. There was a delay between applying the brakes and transitioning to throttle. Do you have the same issue with your esc?

    • @TheDIYGuy999

    this is 7.4v system. technically I should be able to drop my RX-461 receiver from my MT-4 could I?

    • @TheDIYGuy999
      @TheDIYGuy999  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Most ESC have a 5V (or higher in bigger models) BEC voltage regulator integrated. So you always have a stable supply voltage for the receiver and for the servos. So yes, you can.

  • @NJCastillo
    @NJCastillo 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Your micro rc receiver is designed to support 7.4v? Thanks

    • @TheDIYGuy999
      @TheDIYGuy999  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, the receiver supports 7.4V, but servos usually require 4.8 - 6.0V. In this car, the receiver is supplied with regulated 5V from the BEC (BatteryEliminater Circuit) in the 10A brushed ESC

    Is it possible to connect one of these cars to a dumborc 6fg?

    • @TheDIYGuy999
      @TheDIYGuy999  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, it has a standard 3 pin servo interface. You also have to replace the ESC with one with standard interface like I did here

    • @hazeblazer9194
      @hazeblazer9194 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Leider kann ich Ihnen keine persönliche Nachricht senden. ich bin ein totaler Anfänger wenn es um RC geht. ich finde es super was Sie machen. Würden Sie mich für ein Entgelt beraten und unterstützen?

    • @TheDIYGuy999
      @TheDIYGuy999  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Danke für das Lob. Ich kann gerne ein paar Tips geben:
      - Nur Fahrzeuge mit Ersatzteilsupport kaufen. Für den K989 sind z.B. Teile bei Banggood zu finden: www.banggood.com/search/k989.html?p=NZ29024828314201605E
      anscheinend im Moment aber nicht alle.
      - "Hobby Grade" Fahrzeuge haben immer 3pin servos. Viele billigere können aber problemlos darauf umgerüstet werden
      - Wichtig ist eine präzise und möglichst spielfreie Radaufhängung
      - Federbeine mit Ölfüllung verbessern die Fahreigenschaften stark, da das Fahrzeug nicht "hüpft" (Falltest aus ca. 20cm machen).
      - Für einen Anfänger kann ich den HBX 12891 empfehlen: www.banggood.com/search/12891.html?p=NZ29024828314201605E
      dieser kann auch auf brushless (Motoren ohne Kohlebürsten) aufgerüstet werden
      - weiches, flexibles Plastik ist oft besser als die vielen "upgrade" Metallteile, da es sich bei einem Crash ver- und wieder zurück biegt. Ein gutes Beispiel ist der enorm robuste WLtoys 12428
      - Sehr viele Infos sind in dieser Playlist zu finden: th-cam.com/play/PLGO5EJJClJBCjIvu8frS7LrEU3H2Yz_so.html
      - Immer die Video Beschreibungen lesen, um alle Infos zu bekommen.

      Vielen herzlichen Dank für die ausführliche Antwort. Jetzt habe ich erstmals ein wenig Material wo ich mich damit beschäftigen kann :-)
      Ich habe einen Tamiya Neo Fighter (ready to run set), diesen würde ich gerne etwas schneller machen.
      Was halten Sie davon: Kugellager Satz montieren und mit einem 3s Lipo 4000mah und LipoWarner (oder gar 6000mah) betreiben?
      Auch würde ich gerne meine Coke Can Cars etwas tunen, da habe ich Ihre Videos gesehen und denke, dass könnte ich vielleicht hinbekommen. Jedoch würde ich gerne auf einen 2.4ghz Pistolen-Sender aufrüsten, doch da habe ich leider keinen Plan und wenn noch Arduino ins Spiel kommt, dann ist nur noch Latein. Gerne würde ich von Ihnen lernen und fragen ob Sie eine Video Konferenz (Skype oder Whatsapp) "Master Class" für mich anbieten würden, gegen Entgelt versteht sich. Das könnten wir via e-mail besprechen.

    • @TheDIYGuy999
      @TheDIYGuy999  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Bitte. Kugellager für den Neo Fighter sind eine gute Idee. Ich habe sie von Anfang an verbaut. Der original ESC verträgt leider keinen 3S Akku. Dazu ist ein Umbau auf brushless, wie in meinem Video nötig.
      Der Umbau des Coke Can Cars ist für einen Anfänger weniger geeignet, da alles extrem eng ist. Auch die Arduino Fernbedienung erfordert viel Wissen. Für den vorgeschlagenen "Privatsupport" habe ich leider zu wenig Zeit, beantworte aber gerne Fragen hier in der comments section.
