    Hi Guys!!
Thank you so much for watching!
A lot of you have requested nursing pharmacology tips.
The truth is, I'm still studying pharmacology :)... nursing pharmacology is such a huge subject and there is so so much to know & since new medications are always introduced, we will always be learning!!
I thought, if you are interested, I could share some things that I think about before administering each medication.
In this video I speak specifically about the medication Heparin.
Although not a comprehensive review: I could introduce some terminology to you & also help you "think like a nurse."
If you find this helpful, please let me know by giving the video a thumbs up & posting a comment to let me know.
If this is helpful, I could create videos about more medications as well.
    I hope you like this!!
Looking forward to hearing from you soon!!
    Much Love,
    - Caroline
Thank you: Johanna Pialisa Asis for editing this video :)

      Hi Tommy!
      Don't worry, I questioned myself until I had been a nurse for about a 6months lol :)
This degree opens up a lot of doors... which is why I ultimately pushed through.
But, nursing is a job that gets much better with time & I'm glad I stuck around... because even though some days are really challenging... many of them are amazing!!!
      See you soon!!

I really liked your video, and your systematic approach for how to approach administering medications is very smart and helpful. Thanks for the awesome video, and I appreciate the great work you are doing!!
Also, in regards to the comment directly below... You did say that heparin is used to prevent blood clots and did NOT say it's used to treat PE (although it technically is used to treat DVT to prevent PE), so he was mistaken and you were in fact correct.
    Peace and Love,
    Jason H.

I really like all the info here and the way you presented it. Like a logical flow... I don't always get that from the texts or my instructors. On a critical note I think the white fade outs are too distracting, but that is just a personal preference. I would love to see more videos like this. can you do one on vancomycin?

Could you make a video regarding cardiac processes and medication? I think a lot of nursing student encounter difficulties understanding the differences in cardiac medications i.e. diuretics vs. beta blockers vs. calcium channel blockers vs ACE inhibitors vs digitalis. if the Heparin isnt for breaking down clots why would u give it after a DVT has already formed? u said in video it doesn't break down it prevents so therefore you would give it to prevent a dvt or a PE not if a clot already formed

    • @yemialemu9902

    Hi Caroline! ***Please, Read***
My name is Brianna. I'm 19 and I'm studying to become a nurse. Your videos on TH-cam have been so inspirational and helpful to me and to thousands of others. Thank you so much for providing us with advice and encouragement. It means everything to me and to the many others you have reached.
2 months ago, I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia. I'm currently taking Chemistry and Ceramics and I had to drop out of A & P 1 (by the way, your videos for A& P are amazing! Thank you so much!) because of everything going on. I've done some research and Epstein Barr virus (which I have from mono) and emotional stress (from my childhood and family) are triggers. Like you said, it's important to be grateful about one's life, which has helped me to have a positive outlook. I’m taking Savella, which seems to be helping. I’m also walking and swimming for exercise to increase my energy. The most concerning things about having fibromyalgia are the chronic fatigue and pain and the brain fog (which comes and goes, but is somewhat prevalent). I'm still very hopeful for the future: I’m not one for giving up and I'm still striving to be a nurse, which brings me to my questions:
( Nursing school can be very difficult and draining - ?Can I ask my future nursing school to help me create a “lighter” course schedule. Stress makes my condition worse, so I’m hoping to make nursing school, a little less stressful by taking a few classes at a time. ? How do bosses and coworkers accommodate nurses with disabilities? Also, with clinicals, I know that I would not do well in the ER or trauma units because of the fast pace and high stress of those units, so ?could I ask my professors to assign me to any other unit? I’m afraid of whom to tell. I want to be honest and I want my future nursing school and employers to know that I will always try my best and that I will do what I need to do to succeed: because that’s the type of person I am. I was hit with an obstacle, but I want to keep going. )
Thank you so much, Caroline! I'm so so sorry for unloading all of this on you. But, I really appreciate your help. I hope that you have a wonderful day!!!
    Lots of love :D
    Brianna

      Hi Brianna!
It is really nice to hear from you!
Thank you so much for letting me know that you are enjoying the videos & also the Anatomy & Physiology program!
I understand your question, however, have no idea on whether or not a nursing school would be willing to work with you... but it never hurts to ask!!
I will say this though, there were many students in my nursing class & also students that I have worked with over the years who had a lot of unfortunate things happen to them.
However I witnessed many of them overcoming these obstacles amazingly!
I honestly believe that we are a lot stronger than we give ourselves credit for & I think if you take on the challenge that you will find the same thing... I hope so at least!!
      I hope this helps!!
      Keep in touch!!
      xoxo!!
