You are not being harsh, you are speaking the truth. Four week retightening should only be necessary in the beginning stages, after that go to 6 weeks or maybe more depending on the hair growth.
This video is so on time. I am experiencing thinning in the crown of my Sisterlocks and have been expressing my concerns to my loctitian who continues to give the explanations you’ve stated. I will wait for your follow up video on potential recommendations to slow down the process before moving forward with either cutting off some of the length or starting all over again.
Ok great! Yes, this shifting of responsibility and failure to speak with more insight to clients is disappointing and takes the easy way out. It bothers me.

I am only 4 months in my loc journey, however this will be my third loc journey lol, the other two I was not really taking care of my locs nor did I have an understanding about the density of my hair, my water in take & stress levels. Sigh!! That's a difficult one..they say black curry essential oil is supposed to help. Some say many early gray pigments can be caused by lack of hair health. There are several essential oils can assist such as rosemary, black seed, brahmin and lavender. One of these days I'm gonna experiment. But as of now, I am unsure. 😒

Sisterlock Mafia 😂 I’m tickled but it’s true
Just to elaborate on the points you made, I think a fat lock going through new growth is a high contributing factor, and then the lock is folded over too, uhm - so tools, tools tools and technique definitely do a number on our locks. I know I have always had frizz when I was seeing a loctitian, plus I would hear and feel my hair being ripped at the roots. I am now convinced frizz is breakage! So sisters! wrap your frizz around the shaft of you lock to prevent thinning. Even if you do not self retie, twisting the frizz back onto the lock is something we can all do. Recently here I have been playing around with the london-loc-tool, I pinch my lock right at the tip so I do not need to fold it through the new growth, I am liking this way better.
Hello. I’m not sure what you mean by “freeze”. Can you elaborate? Also, do you go for a retie with a dry or oiled scalp?
@@plumercrs1386 LOl! I guess I did not spell the frizz correctly, was too sleepy I suppose🤣. The fly away hairs along the lock. I could not tolerate these, but now since I do my own hair, I faithfully wrap them around the lock. Some sisters swear by these frizz hairs, they say it gives their hair volume? I do both, retie on dry or dump hair. I prefer slightly dump, but then again, I do my own hair so I am very gentle either way.

I was reading this and saying, " Oh shucks, I need to talk to this lady!!!" As I scrolled up, I saw it was YOU! LOL!! That frizz thing is an insightful observation. It really is!! I notice I have frizz at certain times cyclically! I was just thinking this week, the last few retis have been lots of frizz and it's been too that a lot of hair is growing in with the serum--- which means there was some to grow in in the first placr-- which means hair was lost somewhere somehow....hmmmmm.......I like the idea if wrapping that back in. Serious piece here, your point. Please remember to add this to our discussion in case I forget.

Im hearing a lot about loc count. Watching all these videos is overwhelming a bit. My install date is 12/14. I want healthy hair that looks nice and full. I do want small locs. My grandma had a head full of hair as well.

Yes. The higher the quality the better. Sometimes, you can overwater too. Be sure the water is not HARD otherwise it will have the opposite effect. Check out my latest video (uploaded today) on extra dry hair.
Also sisters, does your loctictian gather the hairs that grow outside your lock back in? Actually, I think its hairs she broke the last time she locked your hair🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣that's why it looks like hairs are growing outside the lock. These hairs should be incorporated back in to fortify the "stem". Also, borrowing hairs between locks is another culprit. Are locks brittle dry? Why are they dry? apart from hydration. I am loving taking ownership of my own reties😊😊

My locks are thinning in the top and the ends are kind of fat. Most of the ones coming from the crown are still open on the end. Also, I have tooo many micro size sisterlocks up top. Im sure im over 550 total and want some combined. I am 3yrs locked as of last week.
Do you feel payout locs have caused it or do women in your family have that pattern of thinning. 3 years seems early to experience such thinning. Im sorry about that. It's gotta be hard.
@@TunisiaAli not family nor me. My hair has always been strongest in that area so I think it’s a few of the possibilities that you mentioned. My hair is beautiful but I’m doing what I can now to halt any further progression. Thank you sis!
So I have a question about pricing if you are a loctician and your client comes in at 8-9 weeks how much you think they should be charged
I think that is a personal business decision. BUT, I do have several videos on pricing etc where we go on depth into this cost business. I really feel like it has the potential to force many to begin self retis.
