Welcome back David, you look and sound great. As one of your subscribers for a very long time, I’ve seen your struggles. I watch several different reaction channels and many reactors are struggling with their mental health. Keep this as a fun outlet for you and enjoy it!
So glad you’re back! This is actually Freddie’s very first recording. Trident Studios wanted to experiment with the Wall of Sound technique and asked Freddie to record 2 cover songs. They hadn’t even recorded the first Queen album at this point. Freddie told them he wouldn’t record a cover under his own name so he made up Larry Lurex which is a play on the name Gary Glitter, another singer at that time. He also recorded I Can Hear Music under Larry Lurex as well. Brian and Roger were on the tracks as well. This song was originally recorded by The Byrds. Gerry Goffin and Carole King wrote the song. They also used a part of this at the end of Mother Love.
Freddie’s first studio recording was in fact ‘I Can Hear Music’ recorded in 1972 WHILE Queen were finishing up recording their debut album! Freddie recorded Goin Back in 1973 and released it shortly before the release of Queen’s debut album
@davebain1982 Brian May said in an interview that they included a piece of Goin Back on Mother Love because it is the first thing Freddie sang in the studio. I assumed that he sang it while recording. It was the B side of I Can Hear Music and both recorded in 73.
Its one of the first ones freddie sang. A carol king cover..i think 1972 and the first one he recorded, so it was put at the end on the last one he ever recorded in may 1991 'mothet love'. Larry Lurex was pre queen but brian and roger are on this recording as well. Phil collins coverded this also some years ago
Jack, jack, Jack, welcome back!!! So glad to see you. Yup, that was the put at the end if Mother Love with the backwards songs from ack album and his impromptu vocalization with the crowd at Live Aid, though it wasn’t really impromptu. Love this song…I never wanted to listen to it…now I’m glad I heard it. Adding to all my other Queen and Freddie collection is songs on iTunes. ❤️👍
Welcome back dear David, we missed you so much... looking pretty good despite feeling cruddy though... love the hair and beard... looking forward to more Queen songs... yes, Queen music has brought a lot of us Queenie's through tough times over so many years, thank you Freddie... yup, living my days instead of counting my years... I don't celebrate years anymore, I just count decades... blessings.
The line "live my days instead of counting my years" is my basic view. Because I have this life limiting thing ( so much more cuddly than terminal 😂) I really believe this has made past my sale by date which was march this year. Carol King wrote this when he was recording this he wasn't happy with the musician he was given and eventually he had the roger and Brian playing ,then it just flowed. I'm so glad you chose this route back. Here you among friends, hold on tight the fight not over yet but you are near the top of this shit hill you've been climbing. God bless, you remain in my prayers xx
Hi David! Good to see your face again. This song WAS actually featured on the Made in Heaven album, or at least one line of it, at the very end of Mother Love. I went to a concert tonight in Portsmouth NH USA. The band was Brit Pack and they covered three Queen songs along with other British artists from the 60's, 70's, 80's and 90's.
This was originally a Dusty Springfield song. Freddie, Brian and Roger all appear here. As part of their first studio deal, they were asked to record a couple of tracks to test the gear in a new studio. They also recorded 'I Can Hear Music' from the Beachboys. They were later released as Larry Lurex because Queen didn't own the rights to the recordings. They were later able to acquire the tracks and as you have said, sampled them on the 'Made in Heaven' album.
A nice surprise to see you back again ❤ You won't be surprised to know I'm at a gig in Liverpool 😊 Was just reminiscing the other day about all the great reactions we had over the years ❤
Hiya! Hope you are well. I love this one, finding out it was written by Carole king is the icing on the cake. The ending of mother love borrows a lyric from this song.
Nice to see you again. I hope things in your life are such that you can be here some and enjoy the experience. This is such a mellow song but to be honest, it sounds like a song Brian would have written back in the days of Smile and had it been a Queen song, I would have thought it was one of Brian's from when he was more in this mood and working with a trio instead of a Quartet. Brian kicked it up a few notches with Queen and went more for the heavier rock sound and a more screaming guitar. This song was actually written by Carole King and Gerry Goffin so not a Mercury composition.
What a pleasant surprise to see you back! I’ve never heard this. Thank you for reacting to this. I really liked it. Can’t wait to see what you react to next.
Hi David ✌🏼 SO HAPPY TO SEE YOU !! You are the best and we all miss you when you take a hiatus 😂🤣 Never worry about pausing with us…… only you can do it without upsetting Queen fans… when other reactors do it I stop watching them! You know what you’re doing and we know it and we like it 🥰 😂 You’ve done a lot of Queen why can’t you do Queen again without watching what you’ve said before …… everyone changes and it would be fun to see if you feel the same way … maybe you have a whole new way of looking at a song now!! OR just do a lot of QUEEN LIVE ! Whatever you do WE are happy to see you ❤️
Welcome back! Thank you so much for reacting to one of my most favorite early Freddie recordings! His voice is so pure, and the song has such an air of innocence to it, not just lyrically, if that makes sense. Thanks again! Peace and love ✌❤
Not sure you want to react to these but listen to Under Pressure- Feel Like - Early Demo. When Queen were in their studio in Montreaux David Bowie was there recording as well. They started jamming and decided to do a song together. They were working on the song Feel Like. This turned into the embryonic version of Under Pressure. It was a good song in and of itself. Also listen to Under Pressure (A-Capella) - Only Vocals. Listen to Freddie’s voice at the 1:55 mark. Absolutely amazing!
It's a cover of a song written by Carole King. Few weeks ago Queen 1 Boxset was released so please react to Great King Rat with Freddie guide vocals or Mad The Swine ( guide vocals) and there are also songs from Queen's first ever concert in Imperial College ( without John Deacon)
Oh David I’m elated to see you back so sorry your not well loving the long hair very 70’s sorry I missed your first reaction back on to late for me look after yourself your very special catch you next time x x
Great to see you back Dave. It would be amazing to watch you react to the re-release of Queens debut album Queen 1, and see if can hear the new sound, and get your opinion of it
The emotional impact of mixing Freddie's last recordings with his first recording, followed by the sound of a baby crying makes the song difficult for me to listen to 😭
great to see you. you actually look really well to me and seem chirpy. Think you were a bit down on the last video I saw of you but you sound and look happier so I’m glad about that.
Hi David, Welcome back....I like the face fur. I too have been in the wars health wise...2024 can go straight to Hell. Feel better and take good care.❤
Song was written by Gerry Goffin and Carol king. It haa been covered by alota artist. King recently heard Mercury cover. And rated it amongsts the best.
regards getting older on the inside I think you feel the same. It’s just the exterior that changes and gets wrinkly. also it helps to keep moving the goal posts like when I was 40 I thought 50 was old and now I’m in my 50s I think it’s not old but 60 seems old. 😀
This version (official) is pitched up. I like the original pitch: th-cam.com/video/8AXNfSxkZZc/w-d-xo.html if you pay attention to "mother love" final, this is the original pitch
Dude. This is not a Queen song. It's not a Freddie song. It's Freddie testing studio equipment under a fake name, and the song is by Dusty Springfield. And could you go more than four seconds without stopping it? It does no good to haul all us Queen fans in here just to drown us in yap. Hope you feel better soon. Seriously.
Endlich wieder neues von Dir und Queen! Ein Geheimtipp von mir, "Rock in Rio Blues" von Queen. Hab ich noch nicht bei Dir gehört.😍
The best choice for your coming back! Love your reactions!
I'm so glad you're back! I've missed your reactions, and my friend. I'm looking forward to all kinds of music, including your own!
Hey Dave, great to see you back. In spite of your current illness, you do look healthy. Cheers from Sydney Australia.
Great to see you!

Welcome back! Long overdue
Freddie's young voice is so delightful! Turns out the diss to Gary Glitter was well earned!

Missed your reactions. Glad you are better.
Oh David welcome back. I knew you were braver than you thought xx
David! It is so good to see ya back. Thank you for doing this one, it is one of the one's that started it all if I am not mistaken.

Great song....as always!
Welcome back! From Larry Lurex aka Freddie Mercury check out I Can Hear Music! Also a great cover, as Going Back was, and played with Brian and Roger!

Glad you’re back!!! I’ve missed ya!

welcome back dear 😍 so glad you made it back ❤️ beautiful sweet Freddie Mercury ❤️
Thanks, Jack! Not really familiar with this.. but love it!
Great to see you mate 👍
Class that your back! 🎉
The first two verses of this song were merged into Mother Love at the very end of the song.
The emotional impact of mixing Freddie's last recordings with his first recording, followed by the sound of a baby crying makes the song difficult for me to listen to 😭
We're so glad you're back!!!
👏👏👏👏👏👏❤️💟
Welcome back. We’ve missed you
Welcome back David 👑❤

Do the B side to this, "I can hear music", another cover but brilliantly sung.
it,s song is Carole King..

Freddie did not write this song.
It.was written and recorded by Carol King
