I use cheap makeup brushes with my pans all the time without issue. I don’t feel I waste too much but is a little dustier.
In Australia you can use an image to copy for educational purposes. You wouldn’t be allowed to sell or exhibit what you’d done with it with gaining permission.
Alain Picard got us to copy a master in his portrait course recently. We had to write our name after ‘insert artist’ if we signed it. I did a Rembrandt so my said White (my last name) after Rembrandt.
I only use photos from free reference sites or I ask for permission.

This is great. I don't know why, but I always struggle to get my colored pencils to layer over pastel unless I am using sanded papers. What is the secret?

Thank you! I wish it was easier to ship them overseas too. I've had too many problems with things getting held up in customs for such a long time and the customers complaining that I had to stop since all of that is outside of my control. Here is a video with my pencil recommendations ❤ th-cam.com/video/V1HjJMjvWdk/w-d-xo.html

Look up the work of Ivan Hoo. He uses pastels over acrylic ink on Pastelmat. It probably depends on the surface and how thick your acrylic is underneath. Ink still leaves the texture of Pastelmat for pastel to stick to.
