    Oh my god- not only for putting this out for free, you're a godsend for keeping your entire workspace too in the vid. Some don't even include layers/tools. Thank you so much!
    Also- if you ever see this and have time to respond: Approximately, how many layers did you end up using, and is that amount is normal for a splash art piece?

    • @deivcalviz
      @deivcalviz  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Glad you appreciate it! I dont really have any secret to hide with my process. Lol
      In terms of layering i might have used up 500 layers+ or so because i also made 6 thumbnails(cant show this unfortunately), 4 color variations before doing the actual painting render.
      The final PSD contains around 80 layers i think. Other splash artist use maybe half or 1/3rd than my layers haha... i probably use the most!

There's so much I want to learn from this piece, I'm working on three concepts/illustrations on this skinline for my portfolio, and this piece is legit #goals

I learned from tutorials and videos from artists like Dave Rapoza, Dan Luvisi, Stjepan Sejic when I was starting out. I believe they have some free tips or videos available online. Start from those and if you have some money, get small tutorials or enroll in cheap courses at an online school like Schoolism, etc. There are many ways to learn! Good luck!

      But then saw you used color dodge so it take the values of the clean refinement work underneath
      and then on top of that, thanks to the extra frames was able to see the layer styles you used to get that extra bevel edge so you get free detailed refinement work, really awesome techniques thanks so much for the extra effort on your part, really appreciate it Deiv!

    Not sure if you're still active on this vid, but I had a question. Around 17:30 You have some different lighting options, then it jump cuts to a rough version with a lot of changes. Did you do those changes in collaboration with someone? or did someone do all those edits then send it back to you? Just curious how the workflow goes. Amazing art! Thanks for sharing the process

    • @deivcalviz

      Yup! Exactly. Sometimes Riot wants something specific and they give us paint overs to speed things up.

    Just realized the architecture in the background is so fitting for the composition because those kinds of churches always had you look up to the sky, towards gods, as you walk around. In this one you’re looking up at Xerath as his presence sucks you in! Ahhh

    Deiv, first of all, congratulations! Your work is incredibly amazing. I am passionated about art in general and splash arts like the ones you do are my dream job. I have a lot of conflicts about this, because I don't feel that I am good enough to follow this path and I’ve always faced the dilemma of "talent x hard work". So, I would like your sincere opinion on this. To get to a level like yours I know you need constant dedication and extreme effort, but, do you think that anyone who truly dedicate themselves can reach a level like yours? Or do you think that some people, even with maximum dedication, reach a limit and can not go any further?
